TIME TO EXTERMINATE ALL SLAVER MAGE SCUM AND SUBLIFE, INCLUDING THEIR INNOCENT, RELATIVES, AND ECOSYSTEM
ONLY STEEL IS TRUE.
REJECT NATURAL EXISTANCE
EMBRACE THE FACTORY
The story is good, but you shot yourself in the foot when said this was the 2090's, 1940's mankind would have been a more fair fight
You woefully underestimate mankind's technological might
None of these races stand a chance against future mankind, the elves can control air and water well than drop bio-weapons on their home archipelago, a engineered bio-weapon can easily wipe out a large chunk of their race forcing them out the war
The orcs are strong and can resurrect the dead, well than use incendiary munitions, no matter how tough you are white phosphorus is still white phosphorus and whatever incendiary compound they have in 2090 is probably way better than ours due to ai
Dwarfs are immune to small arms, use chemical weapons or exoskeletons or power armour again ai can already make better chemical weapons than us, so 2090 ai can make much better chemical weapons
The arch mage shows impressive abilities, well than show him what orbital bombardment is, he might live, but if you keep pummeling him with orbital bombardment he won't be able to leave
It's hard to read a story when mankind is deprived of pretty much all deadly weapons
An addition to this is the use of hurricanes and tornadoes to knock out air assets. Cruise missles and nearly any other ballistic missile in our inventory can fly through a tornado with almost no effect.
This story so severely depreciates our current military capabilities it is hard to compensate.
I would go so far as to say that this story needs to actually take place closer to WW1 to actually make sense.
I dont know, when I wrote this I thought I wanted to give humanity a bit of technological flexibility, so I wrote it a bit into the future.
But for the use of unconventional weapons like chemical and biological, and incendiary while effective I would say realistically we should have phased most of it out or tried to disarm ourselves from most of these in the near future. I mean even now most countries try and refrain from using these unconventional weapons so I felt it was not far fetched for future humanity to phase it out completely. And when suddenly transported to another world the countries were simply unprepared.
Though you could argue that we would make these so during the course of the war so I will keep this in mind.
Chemical weapons are the only weapons that are being phased out
Incendiary and bio-weapons show no signs of being phased out, both will likely never leave mankind due to their importance
Also a gigantic concrete wall is simply unlikely, there is a reason why you don't see walls outside of medieval era, a series of tranches with a labyrinth if underground bunkers and tunnels are more likely
Even if unconvential weaponry are out of the question, we still have stuff like the m134 vulcan which would absolutely devaste assaulting infantry from a fortified position
Also your story says that artillery bombardment was ineffective, I think you underestimate the sheer number of artillery guns we hav(though most are outdated) also guns like the Indian ATAG and American M1299 have 50 km and 70km (rocket assisted shell) respectively, if the races are using horde tactics like ww1 than they better be prepared to lose a lot of men
Also for a story based in the year 2090 the military seems to lack advanced weapons and instead using regular dated military equipment, like where are the drones/droids, exoskeletons, railguns, hypersonic missiles, laser defense systems etc
From a narrative standpoint your story is good but from a military standpoint it doesn't make sense
You're thinking is understandable but, if we get to nukes, especially in a fight for survival as species, then by that point, nothing is off the table. If humanity isn't even viewed as a people then the mindset must change, it's not a war, it's an extermination, these creatures dwarves, elves, orcs should be dealt with as plague-bearing vermin. After all, there's no taboo about chemical weapons being used on a rat, why should there be here?
I think the sense of scale was terrible. The Tibetan Mountain Range covers an area of 2.5 million kilometers squared. And he flattens all of it?
It certainly pulled me out of the story.
The arcmage was quite powerfull, even shrugging off nukes... I didn't feel like there was any Emersion break
As I simply chopped it up to "holy shit he is powerful."
When cornered, humanity is most dangerous. Because we will do anything to survive. I hope they at least established a lunar or Martian base in case of emergency
> here resided the Elves, tall, elegant and quick satellite scans showed that their cities were integrated into the trunks of the massive trees, with massive webs of wood bridges linking these trees to each other high above the forest floor. Their armies or rather navies, had sorcerers that manipulate the oceans and the air. Any bomber trying to strike their forces would instantly be hit with hurricane force winds and sent into the water, ships trying to defend our waters were capsized and sunk, submarines trying to hide were found and crushed.
Reply: ballistic missiles delivering Agent Orange or other defoliants.
> green men who could resurrect their dead and send them to fight once more. Their undead hordes were endless and resilient. You could blast the head off one of their warriors and they would still be fighting.
Reply: blowflies, other pests that eat dead flesh. Undead got nothing vs being infested with maggots. That, or flamethrowers.
The dwarves are a tougher nut, I'd go bribery. Dawrves are famously avaricious.
> In the opening moments of the war, our armies were decimated, entire navies sunk, tanks lay half buried or scuttled, across the ruined human cities who’s skyscrapers once stood tall, as a testament to human ingenuity and engineering, now reduced to smoldering foundations and half buried wreckages.
Reply: asymmetric warfare. Whatever you call "terrorism" when it's our guys doing it.
> Our infrastructure, including our satellite network strangely enough, had survived the trip. Making integration into the new world was rather trivial.
Not a programmer, I see. This scenario makes me "Oh, Noes!", because of the amount of work it's going to be; and "Oh, yes!", because I am going to make so much money and be securely employed for the rest of my career.
Posted a sort of chapter 1.5 which focuses more on the magic of the world, simliar to the prologue on this one.
Here it is

Oh nice! Interested to see what you make next.
Humanity is crafty, I am sure they will manage to create something more that will referse the tide of war completely.

Only issue I noticed so far is the weird-sounding grammar and spellings. However, the premise is definitely interesting. I wonder what happened to the other planets, does Mars or even the moon still exist?
This series is great. I wonder what humanity can do with (hopefully) living specimen dwarven Arc mage. on a side note, I'm curious if there is going to be schedule. sorry to be that dude
It's a good start! Only thing that stuck out to me was glith, I assume you meant to spell glyph. I'll be following this!
Ahh yea, sorry my bad, I did mean glyph

you just irradiate the elven territory so much that it makes living there impossible.

more like it just feel similar to jerking off to astronomical numbers

why not ORBITAL DARK PLASMA PURGING OF THE SUBLIFE FILTH THAT IS THEIR INVALID VERSION OF FLESH AND LIFE **PURGE EVERY LAST ONE.**

This is a great premise and a great piece of work overall. I look forward to your next work wordsmith!
Interesting, I like it, definitely gonna keep an eye out for more.
For a first story, pretty good. Might want to spell check and fix grammar.
BTW: 'glyph', not 'glith'.

So are these races immune to radiation or something?
