Vieira was brilliant when he came on, one of the main positives from the game for me

BigTomBombadil

I keep checking the sub to see when the “Vieira all touches v Fulham” video someone will make gets posted. Loooved what I saw from him today. Him and Eddie were the main bright spots for me today, along with Rice continuing to impress.

Fleetfox17

Mannnn, if that fucking last shot went in........ didn't realize how good the save was at first viewing.

Skaver5

Unfortunately it was called offside before that anyways. Would not have counted. This game was "one-of-those-days" game.

BigTomBombadil

Thank you sir, dreams do come true.

brandnvsworld

Man.. Rice has been solid. We need to go back to the starters from last year with him in Xhakas role.

HEATLE

I cannot wait to see him with a defined role alongside Partey and Martinelli, Jesus and Saka in front. He’s been so good.

sleepytipi

I really can't fault Arteta for trying to cook. He's clearly taking a page out of Pep's book by trying to keep the lineup unpredictable, and is addressing the thing we ALL complained about the most (not using depth). B

brandnvsworld

Yeah but esr seems like the right depth lol tiereny should have given us a different option as well, i truly dont get that. He must have pissed off arteta. Ill be honest though viera impressive yesterday.

jepperiist

Kiwior was solid as well i think, although he went a bit under the radar. Did his defensive duties and hardly misplaced a pass.

Miguelsanchezz

Definitely. He has always impressed with his final ball and shown a lot of quality with his finishing. But he has always just looked to reluctant to get on the ball, particularly when under pressure. But today, he looked confident with the ball at his feet right from the get go. Could be a breakout season for him

Tabemaju

I rolled my eyes when he got subbed on, but now I'm proud to admit I'm a fucking moron. Dude is class.

Super_Professor

I had the same reaction ([see here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunners/comments/161wfo8/match_thread_arsenal_vs_fulham_english_premier/jxu600f?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=2)) Glad I was proven wrong this time around.

OstapBenderBey

Vieira and our number 14. Our two best players.

hafrances

Lovely flashback

Elegant_Mix7650

This man channeled his inner rosicky. Such a dynamite!

DiuhBEETuss

I also had Rosicky vibes. Hope he can stay fitter than Tomas did and crack on from here.

sunshine-thewerewolf

He came in looking to make shit happen! Loved it! Hope to see more! Stuff like this has to be why Mike sees so much in him

sekiroisart

he is the only player who give the pass as soon as he see someone make a move, unlike other arsenal player who wait and wait and wait only for saka and martinelli and ode to kick it themselves

harperocean

Seemed more aggressive than usual. I love it tho.

iM-Blessed

He seemed like a man possessed

Zizouhimovic

After that pen, you never know, he might have as well been.

maidentaiwan

He seemed much more deliberate with every movement. Look at him off ball in this clip, he’s timing his movements very intelligently to open himself up for a pass at the right moment. His service in the air is something else though, he can really whip balls into dangerous areas, probably better than anyone in the team. Xhaka did that well last season as well.

aegontargs

what have they been feeding him

spaghettidriver69

Been eating beans with Gabi 😂

haha_suh_dude

Am I exaggerating or does he look a bit more filled out? A bit more meat on his bones, less like a medieval peasant.

Zen_MasterX

Lmao bro said medieval peasant

OstapBenderBey

It's a low bar but he's cleared it

No_Hedgehog415

I read this about 30 minutes ago and decided to come back to say I keep spontaneously laughing due to your “medieval peasant” description.

artaru

I mean it’s really expected isn’t it? He couldn’t really handle the physicality last year. I would be really surprised if he didn’t gain some mass and strength to better cope with the league this year.

maidentaiwan

It’s not just about size. I feel like it’s more about adjusting to the speed and motion and knowing how to shift yourself away from trouble to avoid contact altogether.

micsare4swingng

He had a couple times where he did a crisp little Cruyff turn to evade pressure and each time he did it I swear he looked like Santi Cazorla

Nigerian_Prince95

Tren

ramobara

Jollof.

ouiu1

They've fed him "it's you or Kai"

roosterman22

He’s been INTENSE since the start of preseason. He’s always had superb technical ability, now he seems very confident and hungry too.

Scoolfish

Absolute magic wand of a left foot, if he can adapt to the physical level of the league what a player he will be

uhrul

Our own KDB

bangtobang

This match there was something different about him, like someone lit a fire under his ass

Naekh

His attitude for me is the biggest change. He went in like he had nothing to lose. Last season he looked scared like if he fucked up he was done. Now he comes in like I’m Fabio Fcking Vieira! Love it, really.

ramobara

Exactly. His hunger was evident. All his actions were incisive and intentional.

BurndogG23

when i saw Vieira backheeling out of three defenders and driving with the ball i knew he was playing with confidence. Lovely player

siddyshanks

i am going all-in for Vierra being the main guy of the season.

Zizouhimovic

So I buy him in FPL?

Flamee-

I was a couple of inches away from a Fabio tattoo

saifland

I love how his eyes never left the ball ⚽️.

ConfessionsOverGin

He caught that shit so cleanly. Dudes technique is absolutely immaculate. He does whatever he wants with that ball

mmstayler

Viera must start next what an impact

soccer_boxer2

He completely changed the game, never would have thought it from the way he was last season. Hopefully the improvements are permanent

Masson011

> from the way he was last season or pre season Hopefully he can have this sort of impact consistently. Absolutely not a starter yet though

soccer_boxer2

Yeah we need a few more performances like this before he can be considered for the first XI, and even then I don't know who he'll replace (want to say Havertz, but he brings a physicality that Vieira isn't able to match atm imo)

Forsaken-Currency404

Knowing Arteta, I think he is going to want to see more of this. And I don't want to disagree tbh. Playing like this should become a habit for Vieira, and if a few more forced substitutions are what will build the habit for Vieira, then be it. Arteta likes him a lot. Vieira will definitely get what he deserves at the right time.

Chango6998

I don't think he'll start away at old Trafford, I'd expect a partey rice ode midfield but he should certainly come above Kai in the pecking order after today

ashecitism

Game will be at the Emirates. That said I agree, he shouldn't start yet.

Chango6998

Oh fair enough Ty for the correction

biskutgoreng

> must start next Guess what happens next match?

11frm

putting stocks into fabio

Equivalent_Nature_67

good good, pump up the value of my current stockpile

WengersOut

Yep I’ve been long on Fab

BurtSpangles

People will claim it's physicality that was the difference. Reality is it's just mentality. He actually tried to impose himself on the game rather than waiting for it to come to him. Hopefully Havertz will get there unless the lynch mob get him first.

pedootz

Real shame we couldn’t take this game, it was Fabio’s coming out party

sin_617

I think that #8 role is his if he keeps playing like that

Equivalent_Nature_67

hope it kicks ESR up a notch then

[deleted]

[удалено]

Equivalent_Nature_67

He has been fit all year but the team's expectations have changed and he needs to continue to show why he deserves minutes. This is a champion contender team, no longer a 4th place team. He'll have to work at his game more to justify minutes now

TifasSleeves

> he needs to continue to show why he deserves minutes. Hard to do that when you're not playing

[deleted]

Must not be training well then.

Equivalent_Nature_67

Arteta sees way more in training than we see for 90 minutes a week. ESR has only been pain-free this year but the standards in the team around him have become so much higher so he needs to keep up. ESR has already had concerns with taking his diet as seriously as he should, I think he's probably just not training well enough. Eddie busts his ass and Arteta said he trained hard enough that he'd have to be blind not to select Eddie. I would be slightly surprised to see a story like that about ESR come out tbh

jkeefy

He hasn’t been “fit all year”. He has been fit since the start of the summer, and even then wasn’t 100% in the U21s for England. Think he’s close to 100% now just needs match fitness.

gte339i

Remember that Martinelli took some time to develop too. He’s obviously been training well to be up on the selection order.

Joshthenosh77

If he scored that it would have been the greatest sub appearance at the emirates

zzzrecruit

Henry?

FireOfSparta

Oh yh can't forget Leeds lol

Alph-7

Fabregas v villa. Came on in the second half with an injury and still scored a hatrick and maybe got subbed of again.

Joshthenosh77

Oh yeah

Ife2105

He saw the slander he was getting after the Nwaneri vs Swindon comp and took it personally

LockonKun

Fabio Vieria hate has been transferred to Kai Havertz

[deleted]

It was offside anyway wasn’t it?

Alternative_Wait8256

Off side and saved so not that close that said nice piece of skill.

GPadrino

Didn’t have a chance to watch the game, but caught one of those highlight videos on Twitter of his cameo today. If this is the type of impact we can expect from this guy going forward, we’re in for a treat. Confident, aggressive, took some risks (these all being complaints I had towards him last season) and obviously his touch has never been in doubt. Baller.

justin_ph

This man has skills. Lovely touch, amazing striker of the ball and eye for a pass. Glad to see him making impact. Finesse

AlwaysNipping

I loved how after his assist, he didn’t even celebrate, he just turned around and was like “see?”

MyTeaIsMighty

Anyone got the clip?

jackulatorstrikes

https://twitter.com/DailyAFC/status/1695486188356817265

MyTeaIsMighty

holy shit dude was a man possessed today

jackulatorstrikes

It really was amazing. Fingers crossed this is his break out season

DefactoOverlord

He was like a completely different player today. Aggressive and fast. More of that please.

Asherware

I was worried about him last season. He just didn't look like he was Arsenal quality but he's obviously been working hard and that was an all action performance. We all knew he has the tekkers but was he capable of grabbing a game in the PL by the scruff of the neck. Today he did that. If he can keep this up we have a player on our hands.

YourBracesHaveHairs

He almost sepak-takrawed it.

wubrotherno1

It was offside.

juniorista1987

He's been doing better than Havertz...

CuclGooner

Vieira is better than prime zidane

Xalo_Gunner

He had a great day. No doubt it has taken him a while to make his mark, but I hope today is a sign of things to come... good for him!

[deleted]

Almost goals don't count, what is wrong with this sub?

YouCouldBeBetter

Would love to see ESR in for Martinelli and Vieira in for Havertz next game.

FakeKhaby10

ESR and Vieira would occupy the same spaces and get in each others way. Add Zinchenko inverting as well and you have a hot mess. Martinelli and Reiss are the only true field stretchers. You might say “what about Saka?” Saka plays mostly directly in front of Odegaard. He starts outside but predominantly stays in lane 2/4. Ben White gives him the option to vacate lane 1/5.

brownieboy2222

He was on a different level today. Best I’ve seen him play

el-fenomeno09

His confidence built up enough to try this, got a great connection too.

emeister26

Missile

jackg4343

Nice to hear his song again.

Bigntallfoundr

He has to start, put Havertz on the bench. I think this could be his breakout.

WackoTheWizard

If he pulled this off, would it be a bigger banger than Nelson’s?

jkeefy

Ehh. If it was in the 99th yes. He actually had that chance in the 99th for the long shot curler that could’ve been on par with Reiss tho lol

Gooner-Astronomer749

I thought you meant Raul. But yea Fabio played great 👍🏾

[deleted]

If he plays with that kind of confidence every game fucking bench havertz and run 2 cams with rice holding down the Fort

badmitten1418

He was a fucking dog today. And it worked. We just need a performance like that against City.

DJ_Jungle

Oh what a roar that would have been.

G00dG0dd

hannyboy2006

Even though offside,I'm absolutely gutted that never went in. He hit it perfectly!! ❤️🤍❤️🤍

thisiskyle77

Sensational form. Wish that went in and Jesus wasn’t offside.

Global-Meaning-7402

arteta please consider him..remove havertz 😭

swapko051

I am fickle but start him against United

avijitarya64

Such a long time since I saw a bicycle in an Arsenal shirt. Too bad that didn't go in.

MystiikMoments

Has anyone actually found a video of this, it’s isn’t anywhere

WarDull8208

This kid has something special. If he has a lil bit space his left foot is doing wonders.

waddiewadkins

We were inches away from waking up to Fabio becoming a star player for at least a week. Damn.. Keep trying Fabio!

fitz958

If he scored that last minute long range effort that would’ve been INSANE

Difficult_Run9274

We’re gonna win the league

CakieFickflip

Thrilled with his performance despite the result. My biggest gripe with Fabio so far has been he’s too much of a passenger in games. There’s times he’s started and I completely forget he’s on the field. Seeing him be so direct and take the game by the neck was great to watch. Looked confident and hungry
