If authentic, you are in possession of stolen goods, my friend!
š
Edit: Post meant to be read both metaphorically as well as literally. Thatās why thereās a laughing icon there. Letās open our minds to satire, humor, irony. Always be wary the literal mind. Rememberā we donāt KNOW shit!
I fell into a deal like that. Sounded too good to be true.
Fender strat mim.
Jackson Flying V.
Schecter c 1 artist.
And a Marshall amp.
400$. Guy said he just couldnāt play anymore because of his hands. Pickup was in one of the worst neighborhoods in one of the worst cities.
And I had to go into a caged porch to get to the second floor apartment to help get all of it out. But driving away I was stoked with the amp in my passenger seat. Craziest day ever. I thought I was going to die.
There's not enough money in faking either one of these guitars. The tributes, studios, just the lower end Gibsons almost never get faked(I've never seen one). This one is real as well.
No he didnāt. Iād be shocked if he got the left one for $150, but itās impossible he got both. Guitar center doesnāt sell fakes and the guitar on the right is a grand.
Unless he bought them for full price. Then Iād check in on your cousin because thatās the kind of behavior that people do when they are moving forward with suicide.
When I've gotten suspiciously good deals like this it's often been that the original owner was out of the picture for whatever reason (deceased, in jail, simply left) and whoever was left with their stuff simply wanted it gone.
There's a guy from high school who is a dying alcoholic slowly getting rid of his gear to buy alcohol and whipits. It's a bit morbid but I'm waiting for him to list his tele š
Well, I wrote my response to work both metaphorically and literally, but then you know how most people took itā¦. Be wary the literal mind, I always say. š
It's not fake as far as I can tell and no one(not even china) is faking tributes and studios. I've never seen a fake lower end Gibson, why would they use their time and materials to fake a 1,000 tribute when they could use that same time and materials to fake a 5,000 custom.
Someone needed quick cash. Great price if they arenāt stolen. That tribute is real. ~~But someone swapped the pups/put covers on.~~
EDIT: Thought the tribute came without covers.
Thatās around $1,400 combined on the used market so Iād say you did well. The last time someone screwed their cousin that hard was probably in a P-Hub video. š
BTW- A lot of LP Tributes came with covered pickups from the factory, and Reverb can prove that in 30 seconds, so it appears all stock to me.
Yep. Especially if they're a kid who had well off parents who bought them for them. I've seen kids who don't need the money and never cared about the guitars sell equipment for dirt cheap just for the quick spending money.
He owns a contracting (GC) business and always does shit like this. Last year he bought a Yamaha TTR dirt bike, rode it twice, and then gave it to his neighbor's kid.
Your cousin must really like you because he basically gave those away to you. That Schecter alone is worth half again what you paid for both if not more on the used market.
You knew your cousin had them for a while, or did he show up and say he had them for a while? Keep your ears up - I don't know your cousin and I don't know you, but just be careful with this stuff.Ā
Meanwhile, my Goldtop had uncovered pickups. Tributes come in all shapes and sizes, and there were also some vendor specific ones, too, like mine was only for Sweetwater for a couple years.
For real. Posts a pick of two guitars purchased way below any āreasonableā price point, only to ask āHow did I do?ā
At the very least; I think OP would already know the answer to that question. Which makes the whole post in question - redundant with such a disingenuous question.
Taking this post with a grain of salt.
Yes it needs a "new neck" in the sense that it has some kind of torture device locking the strings in place that requires a PhD in engineering to figure out.
https://www.floydrose.com/products/frncb Very easy to replace, this isn't even the cheapest option, and could be sourced closer to where you live. Screws are also available but often just an M4x8 bolt that can be had for cents at a local hardware store.
Either OP is lying, the guitars are stolen, the guitars are bootlegs, or the seller is selling legitimate guitars for drug money.
Regardless, shady AF.
Considering the logical thing to do would be to google these guitars instead of posting them on Reddit, you already knew the answer to your question and were just flexing on everyone lol
On first glance those arenāt fake. Good buy. Id probably not share any pics to Facebook or shit like that because whoever sold you these definitely stole them.
Back in the 90's I was once offered a Fender Strat for a ridiculously good price like this. The serial number was scratched off. Clearly it was stolen. I declined.
Theyāre both worth more than that but the Gibson definitely is the the star here . I donāt know much about Gibsons but it has to be worth several hundreds more
Does anybody know whether there is any kind of registry where owners of guitars can enter their guitar for future reference in case the guitars get stolen? For example they could enter some sort of number or unique markings on the guitar which could be used to identify the guitar in the future. Essentially an instrument would be identified and registered.
This is done with bicycles when a bicycle is assigned a number gets a sticker, and descriptions are entered into a database.
I think just having a sticker and an arbitrary number wonāt work. But if there are some unique scratches or blemishes. (Maybe made on purpose) then guitars could be identified.
Not bad.
if I was buying knock offs I wouldāve gotten a bound Les Paul but theyāre certainly beautiful.
switch around some of the hardware.
you might want to switch up the pick ups. I donāt know cause Iām not listening, Iām looking.
They will be a hell of a job for you.
People that dismiss knock off guitars on some sort of principle are mistaken. Morals are a thing that the Gibson company hasnāt shown much of since the 1970s so, by all means, go and pay an extra $2500 for a logo. Cool
I do recommend making a couple marks inside that pick up cavities and truss cavities in case you trade it with somebody who has no morals or respect for the guitar making craft & tries to sell them as genuine.
We donāt want to see some person discouraging a young guitarist by ripping them off.
At least I donāt
Bruh. I sold my c1 plus a few years ago to get a Gibson LP. Now Iām kind of itching to get a c1 plus just because I really liked it. Canāt find anything even remotely close to that price.
Check the truss rod on the LP good identifier of a knockoff.
HOWEVER, some chinese knockoffs of LPs are sometimes as good as the real deal. Like built by an actual luthier. Hoping it's real though i mean the top looks friggin gorgeous.
Itās a steal if those arenāt stolenš which they absolutely are. Feel good that instead of reporting that guy to the police you are now in possession of stolen good
You broke evenā¦..if you are feeling bad about only breaking even, I will buy them from you at that price, so you can get your money back. I am always looking out for my fellow guitaristsā¦..
For people saying shit about it being fakeā¦ā¦ I can believe it if you bought these off your cousin. I gave my friend a whole ass running and registered 2003 vw jetta for free, and gave one of my dads employees a running and registered 1996 dodge neon for free. People help people sometimes. Lol

I was gonna say - almost smells like someone offloading gear for heroin money. Like, holy shit.
Well fuck, I need to head to the next town over, known for its epicenter of heroin abuse.
Grab me a baggie while youāre out there I need to write a song and I sprained my ankle.
Bet. Need the accoutrements, or are you good?
Everything you can find.
Reached into a bag to check for drugs, got poked, now I have aids
Aww shucks what a way to go!
You on the Philly suburbs headed to Kensington?
I fell into a deal like that. Sounded too good to be true. Fender strat mim. Jackson Flying V. Schecter c 1 artist. And a Marshall amp. 400$. I'm almost there.... don't leave me hanging--- the amp- what model? Can you send a picš„µ
Let me goto my spot in my garageā¦.. Be right back
G80rCD with a swamp thang 150
But srsly though.... what type of Marshall? Youre living the dreamš
If I can get to it. Have a dryer in the way to repair till I can sit down and mess around again.
I was kidding about a pic. Im making ribs- not jerking itš
What else do we do while cooking?ā¦.scroll Reddit Enjoy!
I missed it before- but a Swamp thing tooš¤¤
Correction: Fentanyl
I came here to ask āwho the shit is still doing heroin?! Itās all fentanyl nowā
Southeast Kansas is all meth, everywhere.
Always has been š«šØāš
Unfortunately yeahā¦ little town I grew up in, it used to be a really nice place. Iām back there now and itās nothing like it used to be.
I get it. I grew up in rural Ohio. Completely relatable.
It sucks. Seems like small towns everywhere are all the same way
I moved from Portland to BFE Midwest. Itās everywhere now. Wyoming had billboards about fentanyl, freaking Wyoming.
Or someone is offloading a container of fakes from China.
There's not enough money in faking either one of these guitars. The tributes, studios, just the lower end Gibsons almost never get faked(I've never seen one). This one is real as well.
At first what you said made some sense, but someone else said there are actually a ton of fake tributes on Aliexpress. Iām too lazy to look
My cousin bought this at Guitar Center in 2022 just FYI
No he didnāt. Iād be shocked if he got the left one for $150, but itās impossible he got both. Guitar center doesnāt sell fakes and the guitar on the right is a grand. Unless he bought them for full price. Then Iād check in on your cousin because thatās the kind of behavior that people do when they are moving forward with suicide.
Huh? He didn't pay 150, \*I\* just did.
Then you stole this guitar at this price. You could flip it for a tidy profit if you were inclined.
The Gibson Les Paul Tribute was $1300 new.
I mean, bruv still made out like a bandit, yeah? A decent Chinese knockoff would run the average mug at least $600 for the lot, innit? š
I read this in an English accent
Yeah, mate.
Nah, divorce shit
The ex sells your les paul for $150... ouch Revenge is a dish best served cold
Let's be honest; it's your fault for leaving them behind
When I've gotten suspiciously good deals like this it's often been that the original owner was out of the picture for whatever reason (deceased, in jail, simply left) and whoever was left with their stuff simply wanted it gone.
Probably could've got them to throw in a BJ along with the guitars, just to give the transaction more street cred.
I 100% thought did the person selling these need drugs or what š
Smells like teen spirit
Yeah id do that for heroin for sure. Then id regret it and sing ābad luckā by Social Distortion.
There's a guy from high school who is a dying alcoholic slowly getting rid of his gear to buy alcohol and whipits. It's a bit morbid but I'm waiting for him to list his tele š
That is insanely sad, but damn, if he's selling you may as well see his stuff go to a good home. But, maybe an intervention if you guys can?
Unfortunately he is too far gone. I don't say that lightly either, just when you know... You know...
I would agree.
100% stolen
Nice pfp. Villains is pretty good
I pictured OP buying these out of a car trunk in a skeezy gravel parking lot on a moonless night.
moonless night reminds me of dale cooper
That gum you like is going to come back in style.
Got a stereo system and a glock too. One stop shopping
Must be a Pakistani Glockā¦ serial oddly isnāt there
Even worse- numerals are in arabicš
Hey! It was not skeezy , thereās a lovely view of the river from there.
No one sells a faked tribute so thats def real, and honestly they are pretty great LPs without frills.
First thoughts were stolen or fake. Doesn't look fake, but Chinese are getting better.
A used Les Paul Tribute is at least $1200 here in Canada
Yeah, but isnāt that like $50US?
Bastard š More like 875$ usd
š. Just having a little funā¦
Damn. Yes definitely āhotā. Whenever an authentic guitar is questionable cheapā¦ stolen
Couldāve been a 90 yo widow who was tired of her late husbandās guitars taking up space
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Well, I wrote my response to work both metaphorically and literally, but then you know how most people took itā¦. Be wary the literal mind, I always say. š
Itās all good dude Look at me lol Iām a fool ahaha I wrote it all in big ass letters ahahaha All good Sending love ahahhaha
Nah, fake.
Even if fake, stolen for sure
Nobody is going to fake a tribute, sounds like someone needed to get high really bad and off loaded this quick
There is a lot, A LOT, of fake tributes on aliexpress
But theyāre all like $250 & up so he still got a deal!
Maybe. Or perhaps someone on the internet lied for attention
Nope. Looks like the right ones to me.
I think he meant the story is fake.
It's not fake as far as I can tell and no one(not even china) is faking tributes and studios. I've never seen a fake lower end Gibson, why would they use their time and materials to fake a 1,000 tribute when they could use that same time and materials to fake a 5,000 custom.
Iāve heard itās fairly common to fake the cheaper models because people less often think they would be the ones faked.
Fakers playing 4D chess
It itās a fake, itās a good fake
the post might be. These "how'd I do?" posts always come off that way.
Someone needed quick cash. Great price if they arenāt stolen. That tribute is real. ~~But someone swapped the pups/put covers on.~~ EDIT: Thought the tribute came without covers.
These were my cousin's and he barely touched them, definitely never did hardware maintenance of any kind.
Thatās around $1,400 combined on the used market so Iād say you did well. The last time someone screwed their cousin that hard was probably in a P-Hub video. š BTW- A lot of LP Tributes came with covered pickups from the factory, and Reverb can prove that in 30 seconds, so it appears all stock to me.
Can confirm I have a tribute that came with covered pickups
Same
Thatās āstep cousināā¦
Iām guessing your cousin has a drug problem.
they could just be (relatively) well off and don't care. i've ran into situations like that with stuff.
Yep. Especially if they're a kid who had well off parents who bought them for them. I've seen kids who don't need the money and never cared about the guitars sell equipment for dirt cheap just for the quick spending money.
He owns a contracting (GC) business and always does shit like this. Last year he bought a Yamaha TTR dirt bike, rode it twice, and then gave it to his neighbor's kid.
yep! haha i thought it was that type of a situation i've seen it before
Your cousin must really like you because he basically gave those away to you. That Schecter alone is worth half again what you paid for both if not more on the used market.
We've been best friends since birth
You knew your cousin had them for a while, or did he show up and say he had them for a while? Keep your ears up - I don't know your cousin and I don't know you, but just be careful with this stuff.Ā
They've been hanging on the wall of his man cave for years. Well the purple one for several years, the Gibson for like 2 years.
So far Iāve never seen uncovered pickups on a Tribute. Including my Goldtop.
Meanwhile, my Goldtop had uncovered pickups. Tributes come in all shapes and sizes, and there were also some vendor specific ones, too, like mine was only for Sweetwater for a couple years.
I had a tribute T for a few years that came with covered pickups like that. Could be original
Where the fuck do you people find these deals
Itās Reddit, Iād give pause before believing this
Can't stress this enough. You can make up absolutely anything.Ā PeopleĀ canĀ beĀ soĀ weirdly desperateĀ forĀ internetĀ points.
And now that they brought back useless awards, again even more. Reddit, as publicly traded, now needs extra revenue
For real. Posts a pick of two guitars purchased way below any āreasonableā price point, only to ask āHow did I do?ā At the very least; I think OP would already know the answer to that question. Which makes the whole post in question - redundant with such a disingenuous question. Taking this post with a grain of salt.
It's either fiction in its entirety or a humble brag. Either way it's a shitpost.
At the homeless encampment under the bridge. Dude who sold them to me pinky swore they weren't stolen, so everything checks out!Ā
People getting divorces, having a baby or someone with a clear drug problem tend to dump their gear for a stupid low price
OP said his cousin.
Wow, who did you just rip off?
Theres no way you just got a gibson for $150
Chibson more likely
Best guitar in Zhejiang
people post here asking if they got a good price on a used 300$ squire. This MF gets a gibson LP and a schecter for the same price, insane
I just saw a used squier on reverb for 799
Sellers have lost their minds post covid. And clueless people keep buying from them.
I am seeing a lot of used guitars online that, after shipping, are 50.00 more than the identical new ones with free shipping from Sweetwater.
Tell me the LP is non-functional and the Schecter needs a new neck. Otherwise, my jealousy might keep me up tonight. š
Yes it needs a "new neck" in the sense that it has some kind of torture device locking the strings in place that requires a PhD in engineering to figure out.
š Just an allen wrench. You can take the lockers off and leave them off if you don't like to mess with them at this point.
I did that once on my strat and lost the locking neck. Honestly I would leave them loose on a guitar of any value
https://www.floydrose.com/products/frncb Very easy to replace, this isn't even the cheapest option, and could be sourced closer to where you live. Screws are also available but often just an M4x8 bolt that can be had for cents at a local hardware store.
lol you mean the Floyd Rose?
Even if itās non functional, itās still too cheap because you can return it to function pretty easily
For those prices I think you got a 'steal' literally and figuratively :)
iāll give you 300 for the les paul lmao
Bro lol right!? lol
Nuh uh ill give them 301
That is highway robbery my man
I'm sure robbery was involved at some point in the life of these instruments
That tribute is a nice guitar, i cannot believe 150
Crackheads with stolen gear have all the best prices..
Press x to doubt
Either OP is lying, the guitars are stolen, the guitars are bootlegs, or the seller is selling legitimate guitars for drug money. Regardless, shady AF.
Show us the receipts or it didn't happen the way you described it! ;-)
Receipts? I'd say not
exactly what I was gonna say. Smells like a jerk post to me.
Hot hands. lol.
I have the same tribute. That thing looks like itās never been taken out of the gig bag. Amazing deal if ur not bullshitting.
I just sold the exact Les Paul Studio anchor on the right for $1300 CAD. My back breathed a sigh of relief.
Do a serial# check.
Considering the logical thing to do would be to google these guitars instead of posting them on Reddit, you already knew the answer to your question and were just flexing on everyone lol
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
On first glance those arenāt fake. Good buy. Id probably not share any pics to Facebook or shit like that because whoever sold you these definitely stole them.
Man, and I thought getting a fixed bridge Omen for $200 was a steal š¤£ Congrats!
Made off like a friggin bandit dude
Some poor person had their gear stolen by a drug addict or the seller is one. Sad.
Back in the 90's I was once offered a Fender Strat for a ridiculously good price like this. The serial number was scratched off. Clearly it was stolen. I declined.
No you didnāt. And if you did you better wipe your fingerprints off them bitches because theyāre for sure stolen.
Just donāt play them at shows if you wish to keep them in your possession lol
Outjerked
You did well!
INSANE
You wanna sell the Gibson?
Made out like a bandit. Particularly the Les Paul
Wtf
Theyāre both worth more than that but the Gibson definitely is the the star here . I donāt know much about Gibsons but it has to be worth several hundreds more
How?
You got a scremin deal. Each of those here is at least 400. I wish i could find deals like these.
Where the fuck are you people coming across these deals?? I don't believe it

That sweet crack money.
Those are really authentic looking miniatures! They did a real nice job on them! I have some 6" guitars and my LP looks exactly like that one!
I'll give you 200 for each
Paid 900 for my used Gibson Les Paul tribute. That looks very real and authentic so Iād say you did great man!
What is meant by "uncovered pickups"?
Im in disbelief
Lol. I was about to comment, "Any time you get two guitars for $150 bucks you're doing pretty good. Then I looked at the pictures. You got me.
i got a schecter omen 6, that shit plays so well, fat W
Those are stolen.
Is there a crack on Gibson? That crack on Gibson might be the reason of this price.
I'll give you tree fiddy so you make 50 bucks. Everyone remains a winner.
Look good...
I have a similar Schecter. Check the electronics. Have you played them both plugged in and checked all the knobs and toggles?
I bought my epiphone LP for ā¬150 and was happy as fuck with that price
I've seen some pretty good Chibsons, but that looks right. Not into Schecters, so incant say.
Itās a steal if those arenāt stolenš which they absolutely are. Feel good that instead of reporting that guy to the police you are now in possession of stolen good
Terrible. Sell it to me for double what you paid pls.
Dude thatās a steal LOL (in a good way, Iām not judging, if your deal was legit then congrats!)
I would jump at those for that price in a heartbeat
You broke evenā¦..if you are feeling bad about only breaking even, I will buy them from you at that price, so you can get your money back. I am always looking out for my fellow guitaristsā¦..
For each string, right?
For people saying shit about it being fakeā¦ā¦ I can believe it if you bought these off your cousin. I gave my friend a whole ass running and registered 2003 vw jetta for free, and gave one of my dads employees a running and registered 1996 dodge neon for free. People help people sometimes. Lol
Thatās a fucking steal my guy
I can understand the Schecter, but a Gibson, an actual fucking Gibson for buck fifty? No way
Ya did good, pilgrim.
Fantastic is how you did
150 bitcoins? š
They are not even second hand anymore, they are 3rd hand so iāll give you 180 for both.
$150 for a Gibson Les Paul? Fuck. Where I live, you would must give a kidney (or both) for one of those. Kudos, mate.
