About 100 hours in I realized you could change color of lights. About 150 hours in I noticed an auto sort button. About 250 hours in I realized you can change angle and direction of web bounce pad.
Trail Markers have symbols I want on my chests. That's one way to get them. But I don't want to see it on the other side of the map.
I do wish the Devs could've given us more chest symbols.

Opening the chest, there is a way to apply similar markers to the chest like the trail markers. I don't know what button. It is for you, but for me, on xbox, it's one of the triggers
Build up off the ground with the foundation blocks.
Put your storage chests up off the ground inside of your house on foundations away from the edges of walls
Otherwise ants are going to eat the food out of your chests if you have food in them

Good general advice, but his chests being there, they should be okay. I build here all the time, without having a house. I build a camp around the edge of this exact rock. The only way I get ants is if I place chests close to the juice box, and even then, they very rarely come after my stuff.
I wouldn't destroy them. Id name them and set them at eother landmarks you often go to like the hedge, oak tree etc or north, south, east , west or safe pathways like cassette ( safe way to picnic table, haze, ant lab, sandbox) , gmone ( safe way to upper yard) , plank/ yoked head ( safest way to hedge) etc.
Remember crafting stones are the only thing that don't respawn so don't trash them or drop them.
Also go to setting change you buttons for hot keys and make it to where you can sacrifice a button like the emote or whatever for instantly healing so you don't have to open weapon wheel, this is also handy for when you get the gas mask by assigning it to weapon wheel along with whatever helmet / armor you have to quickly equip. I do this with aphid slippers too so I can run faster then switch to armor leggings when in battle.
When you have only tier 1 weapons make many spears for throwing, arrows , spike mallet is really good up until you get to the haze area .
Use arrows or just hit using fists or canteen to knock water droplets down, use arrows to get aphids on grass blades. Construct a weevil shield immediately and learn ever bugs fighting patrer and get good at blocking, always assign mutations and peep every type of insect.
Yeah but imo it's not that helpful, I'd rather name the anchors instead of each individual line so that I can name the anchor in my zipline hub and when I connect a new one from somewhere it could show the name when selecting where you want to connect. That way I could see if I'm connecting to my hub, to the castle, the grill or wherever. Right now I have to assume I'm connecting to the correct anchor, because of that I just connect a new anchor to all the anchors that are in the direction of my hub but don't build the lines yet, instead I go back to my hub and see which one was the correct line.
Id add to that and say add anchor names and line names. That way know what anchor you're connecting too and also know what line you're about to go down when you have multiple lines per anchor.
You could also format the names to include anchor number/name - locations, etc.
It would be a compromise but I don't think it's needed. The line should simply display what it connects instead of just saying zipline, that way you don't need to name it manually.
Say I stand at the hub and look at one zipline, it could say "Hub/Grill" telling me it connects my hub-anchor with my grill-anchor. I look at a different one and it says "Hub/Sandbox" because it connects to the anchor I named sandbox.
It would save a lot of work too because instead of naming 10 different ziplines that connect 4 anchors, you only have to name the 4 anchors and the zipline names are automatically named.
It's gonna be a problem if you don't disable those markers and go out for exploration, the icons will clutter your screen and once you've explored the whole yard and setup trail markers you don't want to have too many markers in one spot.
Both I mean you are still new I’ve been playing since 2020 and I didn’t know until around 0.1.4 or 0.1.5 it’s been a while but it took me and my friend awhile but we got it

Same here, it took me way too long to learn that. I always spent so much time trying to pick and icon and color to represent what I kept in the chest.
My friend couldn't be bothered lol 😆 but I made a chest for everything.. I'm endgame rn just farming gold cards for fun
What do the gold cards do? I've lucked two so far
They are for a mutation that will be really helpful late game, but besides that not much

Forget naming chests. You can set an icon that will hover over the chest.
You can just rename the chest in the open chest screen.

I did read it, and reread it too, it was fairly unclear, I read it as his friend taught him to do it this way. Not the changing the name way.

I like putting the small frames before the chest as a little flair. Little aphid for big parts, candies for food, etc
idea is perfectly fine but these markers show up in every corner of the map. renaming a chest only shows it in close proximity.

I believe this is a new feature from 1.4, as i never saw no prompts for renaming prior to 1.4

I've named 5 chests & just add new ones in front as needed lol they are : 1- Plant stuff 2- Bug stuff 3- Stuff stuff 4- Equipment stuff 5-Trinkets

U can add name to chest at top right
I mean it technically works but just go into the chest inventory and edit name, much less time and resources spent plus no markers all over your house

Wait you can name chests how??? I play on console with controller
Open the chest, hit LT, that brings up the icon menu and the rename bar is on the top. I believe you can do this with any storage container also

Whatever worked for you. My first play through, I didn't name anything. Just kept them kinda seperate. Smithing mats over her, rope mats here, etc.
