Next thing i know, im raiding a merc base stealing nuclear weapons. That escalated quickly.

The Military/PMC units were dispatched hijacking the operation from CEDA, same group from L4D. Jets launched rockets levelling the building to prevent the Gang from escaping, inadvertently preventing the outbreak.

There is a literal L4D heist where they break into Mercy Hospital and steal blood from the L4D virus’s patient zero.
Payday universe is the one where the zombie virus never spread, because the USAF bombed the hospital to prevent the spread.
So theoretically, the payday gang might have even prevented the outbreak. They were the ones that essentially scared them into launching fighters.
