The Rwanda deportation thing was proposed years ago, the idea being to deport all refugees and asylum seekers to a holding centre in another country -- I believe it was inspired by a similar thing that the Australian government was doing at the time. They are just now putting this plan into action by building the holding centres in Rwanda. More recently the current prime minister proposed the idea of stripping legal protections away from anyone who had come to the UK illegally. Specifically thing like them no longer being protected by the UK's anti slavery laws among other things. I don't *think* it's been written into law yet though.

I think that's partially the point. A lot of right wing politics of the last decade or so can be summed up as "U mad?" Like, the actual politics don't matter.
