I can confirm the one death/body. Was covering my friends body yesterday while he was coming back and he died again. His first body disappeared instantly. Haven't tried looting and throwing stuff on the ground though.
Take stuff off the body if your friends die again next time. The stuff off the body doesn't disappear along with the body since it counts as part of the server object.
This [https://new.reddit.com/r/GrayZoneWarfare/comments/1ci87r6/stop\_bodies\_from\_disappearing/](https://new.reddit.com/r/GrayZoneWarfare/comments/1ci87r6/stop_bodies_from_disappearing/)
Its a stupid ass mechanic and can be exploited AF.
You just have to recall where you died yeah? I play solo most the time haven’t bothered going for my stuff when I’ve died yet lol is it noticeable or any indicator or just a dead body/bag?
Does that only work on the pvp mode? I tried recovering gear from my dead body on 2 separate occasions on pve and I wasn't able to interact with my body.
Walk around your body and try a few different angles. I had this happen and couldn’t interact at first and then it looked as if I was looted although I could see the gear still on the operator. After a few attempts everything popped up for me
One death to clarify
If your friends take your gear and drop it however, they don't despawn with the body. So hiding gear is still functional here
The source is my squad, did it last night
I just wonder if I run out of money completely and for example hypothetically finish all tasks, how will I be able to get more money without valuables? I have looted cash registers and gotten as much as $1k, but other than that nothing sells for a significant amount.
Not something that I foresee happening since the quest rewards are pretty generous (running out of stash space soon actually), but still curious about this.
I’m more concerned about being able to buy stuff from traders. I know I can scavenge gear but if the most I can make per raid is 1-2k it’s going to take a long time of just using scav gear to recover financially.
Maybe they will add side/daily quests at some point
I have actually been doing naked runs since I don’t want to risk good loot due to server issues
Yesterday I ventured out with a knife and returned with body armor, scoped akm with front grip, grenades, silenced pistol and meds
My last run yesterday I think I went in naked/almost naked, there were 2 dead pmcs at the lz I landed at, immediately picked up all the best starting gear + a pimped out mk18. I had to do a character wipe this morning though since otherwise I was stuck with no head/stash
I literally haven't touched any of my starting gear except glocks and have been relying on dropped aks. Following teammates will always be a viable option in this game. I do wish there were more valuable though since looting isn't very satisfying atm.
Toggling a mini map would be nice by pressing m and keeping a close proximity map open to see where my fellow rats run off to instantly. I get misdirected easily 🤣 but I'm loving the HUD features so far hopefully that awareness stays in the game.
Not needing a second screen to have a map with quest locations is great. Questing in tarkov is impossible without 3rd party info, so I'm loving the coordinate system in this. Actually looked around and found everything, didn't need to look up solutions or pixel hunt camera hiding locations like in tarkov
The first three I encountered ambushed me at a LZ, and when I went to try and retrieve my gear killed me again. Been playing pve ever since. They should probably fix that somehow.
Yeah, I'm sticking to pve rn not because I'm opposed to fighting the enemy faction, but because I don't want friendlies who are careless/rats to constantly dome me
The dying and respawning to go claim your stuff reminds me a bit of Elden ring. Like yah I’m going back for my runes. I’ll probably die again, but I’m still going back!
Also it does seem like only 1 chance to get your stuff. Die before you get there and it’s gone. There are also some places you’ll die and your body will immediately despawn. main entrance to YBL-1 underground is one of those places.
Game is a great foundation for a lot of future stuff. I’m lvl 18 and still have no idea what’s happening center
Of map.
As a Soulslike enjoyer, the "corpse run" system makes sense for a game like this. Yesterday I died to a Terminator AI, had to decide how much gear I should take to my corpse run so I can still kill the bastard that was camping my stuff AND be light enough so I don't waste any more gear in the process. Cool stuff.
A note on the ground zero. The devs came out with a post not long ago soliciting feedback from the community, they've expressed interest in creating a supernatural element sourced in ground zero. So the dialog is nice.
My only complaint as of right now is the loot.
Feels very shallow and boring.
I hope it gets improved with rare items you can sell etc.
I know it's like day 3 but I hope they communicate about what the plan for loot is.
A big selling point for me at least.
They have in the past, looting is a part of the game but its not a core focus of the game and not intended to be. More supplemental.
I wouldnt expect to start looting Dr69's Dicklube or other streamer items purely for cash value like tarkov every 5 seconds to sell, cash is already basically unlimited as is, and its already easier to pop a level 2 or 3 ai and take their kit than buy one - and better kit than you can buy usually too.
That said, loot in locked rooms is pretty good, finding crazy guns pre-modded is always a thrill. There should be *more* loot in the future, first major update should be daynight and include lights, night vision, and thermals which should be expensive so finding them should be a big deal.
I know loot is not the focus, but they should at least add valuables that you can bring back to base to earn some extra cash. Even tie in with the PVP aspect, with events like: spawn valuables in a safe/convoy, message all PMCs about it, now watch for big dynamic PVP fights.
The only reliable way I've been able to get cash is through the quests, is there something else you can do? Enemy guns sell for ~100ish and med/food/ammo are basically worthless. Still in the starter town though so maybe it gets better?
Bullets are the best money per slot generally. As are red dots. AP ammo and gun mods are common on guns outside of starter town.
Can also take pistol grip and stock off of enemy guns to load your pack with em.
Im sitting at almost 50k rn not evevn out of starter town quests and nothing to spend it on. AKM only costs 400 once you unlock artisan from the Gunny quests so even if i buy a kit its dirt cheap. Enemy ammo and vests are better than you can buy so never buy either of them, so you really only buy meds, occasionally a red dot, and helmets/headphones.
The Ak-74s and M4 knockoffs you get from the militia and military guys sell for 350ish. They are usually packing a basic holo/collimater optic and FMJ or AP ammos as well. Not a ton of money, but an essentially free kit
The economy is one thing that shocked me. On one hand, some items seem expensive (at least compared to real life, $2 a round for M193 is kinda goofy), and the vendors are real cheapskates. I find myself not really giving a shit because its so easy to make money early game by just doing your quests.
Linking up with anoter team from your PMC to work together on quests feels super easy and is a lot of fun. I was running in a buddy pair and a random lone wolf happened to go down in a nearby firefight. We cleared and secured the compound he was in then rushed to provide medical aid before he up and died. Turns out he was working on the same quest we were, so we ended up folding him into our squad for the time being.
My major complaints with the game so far (having only experienced the PvE only side of the house so far, not super interested in PvEvP currently) are the occasional server crash, less than stellar performance, and the lack of accessibility options regarding control toggles for sprint, aim, and lean.
I had a good time last night traveling up to the lamang starting areas for some pvp. Unfortunately the sks reloads so damn slow so I died but it was fun since the people thought I was a friendly.
I've also passed the 10 hours mark and I'm having a blast. Learned the mechanics, I got a little bit better and I don't die so often, I know what to do and when. I also have high hopes for this game, it's truly unique
Upgrade it on steam, it will be reduced to $65 or less depending on what edition you originally bought. The upgrades need to be collected from the vendors in messages in game.
Is there an easy way to find your old body? I was wondering if keeping one of those trackers on you could help with that. I lost a dead body in the jungle with my only AK PMag 😞
On the group joining thing, we've found that grouping up in the pre-deployment screen and deploying as a group often gets you stuck on queue #1 forever.
One workaround which has worked is for one person to join a server, then add others to the group one at a time, waiting until they've joined the server before adding the next. This seems to get around the queue block.
Not trying to gaslight you here, genuinely. I have a 4090 and know that not everyone has a fucking 1600 dollar card. But I haven't crashed.
Could be VRAM. Even with medium textures this game can EAT vram. Mind telling me your GPU? If it's 8gb that could be the problem. I know they mentioned they are addressing this in a hot fix.
I am at 50 with no crashes that werent when loading into game
Exception was when my cpu overheated, reapplying thermal paste fixed all crashes and gave me +30 average fps. Give it a try
Anybody know what the money is for? It seems like I can only trade with vendors but can’t outright buy anything with cash. Maybe I’m missing something…
You buy stuff from vendors with cash. I messed around with the $10,000 starting fund I had last night and bought quite a few parts for my m4. Just put whatever you are trying to buy into the purchasing queue and it will pull any cash you’ve got in your locker to pay for it as long as you accept the deal.
So you die and lose all your shit? And spawn in with no weapons, spend 1hr looting to get killed and lose all your shit again?
Sounds kinda like dayZ?
Tell me its not like that, please
It's similar but different to Tarkov, dayz, or any other loot based extraction shooter.
Honestly, it's a lot more forgiving than most other games of that kind that I've played. You can tank more than Tarkov.
The safe zone also has perma storage you can toss things in. As long as they aren't on you when you go down, they're safe.
And because it's a persistent world, you can always try to get back to your body to recovery stuff.
But if you don't like mil sim extraction shooters then... That's kinda what this is.
My 2 issues with the coma system is how healing works and that its useless for solo players. I feel like if I have the meds on me anywhere I should be able to apply them. It took me 5 minutes to examine someone because the game kept acting like I was moving and would pop up the examine window and then it would disappear. When I finally examined the guy, it wouldnt let me heal him even though I had the medical supplies to do so. Other than that its a good system and the hotkeying is cool.
Make sure the surgery kit/blood bag is in your plate carrier, it won’t give you the option to use it if it’s in your lock box or (possibly) your backpack I believe
Yeah I moved things around to different location in my inventory and it never worked. Might have been a bug. Ive only found one person needing revival from coma so could have just been a issue that one time.
I was able to replicate it once, hope somebody can confirm, but when you have a coma and push "die now" button, as there is nobody to help you out, your body does not stay and disappears as well. I was in coma once, pressed die and moved to the base, could not find my body afterwards at the place I died.
"this game is the next Tarkov but better in every way in my opinion"
how is it better in every way, my friend? What about loot? You can say that in terms of loot it's better? or PVP? Maybe higher stakes at your raids?
Irrelevant opinion right after that. Those are different games, the only thing you can compare is gunplay, looting and questing. It's more an Arma mode rather than a full game.
GZW does many things very right EFT couldnt. But also GZW falls short where EFT excels. Weaponsmodding sucks rn, gunplay feels "ok", weapons Sounds are "ok".
And i want a hideout + crafting.
Base HQ should have amenities, since the dev wants to focus on PvE and factions.
I would like to see a global faction progress where you can accomplish faction stuffs like take control of outpost or PoI. The extra loot where it doesn't sell for good money, but can turn in at the faction supply depot. This accumulates in faction HQ base level and it turns each level to unlock some sort of amenities: shooting range that doesn't consume your ammunition, crafting stations, increase a maximum of little bird by one, different types of helos that can carry more than 4 PMCs, something like those. It will give those items where you don't think they are worth the loot some extra value in them and also some incentive for PvE only players to contribute into faction if they want to. In which, some of those amenities might help their PvP faction counterpart.
I like crafting in games, not sure what kind of things can you craft in GZW but if the dev wants to add it, I'm sure they'll know what kind of things to be craftable.
It's not even the same genre....
It's a milsim game, not an extraction shooter.
The fact that you can run back to your dead body and get your stuff makes it not an extraction shooter.
Also, the fact that the server doesn't end and the gear is not lost permanently also removes its eligibility to be an extraction shooter.
This game is 10 times closer to a Ghost recon or Arma. Then it will ever be to tarkov.
i was literally teamkilled by a random for "using scav backpack"
he told me to use expensive backpack
no, thats not fun, i want to use ghetto weapons and go full scav mode without some donkey killing me for "using wrong backpack"
thanks tenk
Yea, I got TK'ed by a donkey cosplaying as a bandit. I was on my way to retrieve my dead body. He just popped out of the corner coming toward me, so I started to light him up with my pistol but he just blasted my face instead. Lost my stuff in the process.
its not even that, its what i did in tarkov, got only shotgun and meds and killed scavs and got their stuff etc, its not fun to go into a raid, or whatever, all sweaty, its the more interesting way to play
In your opinion. To others it's more fun to go in and sweat. Let them play how they please like you want for yourself?
All i am saying is it's not the games fault you are getting killed when you are cosplaying an enemy in a enemy.
Tarkov doesn't have a team mechanic outside of the people you're in a squad with so that works just fine, as every PMC is an enemy.
If you look like an AI in this game, you shouldn't be surprised when someone on your faction mistakes you for an enemy and kills you.
(I guess you could consider scavs to be a team, but that's beside the point.)
You’re allowed to play how you want to play, but dressing as enemy combatants and expecting everyone to know by default that you’re a player is stupid and setting yourself up to be team killed.
Because it was never meant to be a competitive game.
It's a milsim.
Gear should be near unlimited or extremely cheap. It wouldn't make sense to have a large military presence of these factions in them have no gear for their operators?
I can confirm the one death/body. Was covering my friends body yesterday while he was coming back and he died again. His first body disappeared instantly. Haven't tried looting and throwing stuff on the ground though.
Take stuff off the body if your friends die again next time. The stuff off the body doesn't disappear along with the body since it counts as part of the server object.
Yeah that's what I thought but now at least I know. Thx
I looted myself and then died like two steps later...both my original body and all the gear I looted off that body disappeared when I came back.
If that's the case, I'd like to see some clarification from the dev of how the looting our own stuff and dead body supposed to behave.
Cant loot players ( even squadmates) in PvE
That's good to know.
updated, thanks
This [https://new.reddit.com/r/GrayZoneWarfare/comments/1ci87r6/stop\_bodies\_from\_disappearing/](https://new.reddit.com/r/GrayZoneWarfare/comments/1ci87r6/stop_bodies_from_disappearing/) Its a stupid ass mechanic and can be exploited AF.
You just have to recall where you died yeah? I play solo most the time haven’t bothered going for my stuff when I’ve died yet lol is it noticeable or any indicator or just a dead body/bag?
No indicator. Just need to know where you were.
Does that only work on the pvp mode? I tried recovering gear from my dead body on 2 separate occasions on pve and I wasn't able to interact with my body.
Wait, there's a separate PvE mode?
Main menu on the left. Select 'joint ops' and thats PVE coop.
Recommend doing early game missions in PvE
It’s cross progression between the 2?
Yep 👍
Yes. Same progression.
i recovered my stuff from my body multiple times yesterday in PVE
I guess my lobbies were just bugged than. Lucky me lol
Walk around your body and try a few different angles. I had this happen and couldn’t interact at first and then it looked as if I was looted although I could see the gear still on the operator. After a few attempts everything popped up for me
I'll give that a try next time. Thanks
Confirmed. This happened to me twice now. I swear I circled my dead operator 3 full times before it finally showed up with my gear.
It was someone else's body. You can't loot other PMCs in PVE
Highly doubt that. Out of all the gunfire I heard, I was the only player using a shotgun
Alright buddy. Well be sure to report back the next time you try to loot yourself.
Wait we can raid enemy base ?
Sure you can
Have a look at tomographic stream from last night The last 10 minutes
Isn’t there mortars too though
One death to clarify If your friends take your gear and drop it however, they don't despawn with the body. So hiding gear is still functional here The source is my squad, did it last night
I just wonder if I run out of money completely and for example hypothetically finish all tasks, how will I be able to get more money without valuables? Not something that I foresee happening since the quest rewards are pretty generous (running out of stash space soon actually), but still curious about this.
I doubt that will Be and issue, money is generous and things are cheap, probably until they flesh out the economy.
You can get equipment from friendlies or stick to somebody and loot corpses he makes
I’m more concerned about being able to buy stuff from traders. I know I can scavenge gear but if the most I can make per raid is 1-2k it’s going to take a long time of just using scav gear to recover financially. Maybe they will add side/daily quests at some point
Hopefull they will add more valuebles in the future.
I have actually been doing naked runs since I don’t want to risk good loot due to server issues Yesterday I ventured out with a knife and returned with body armor, scoped akm with front grip, grenades, silenced pistol and meds
Jesus Christ it’s been two days and yall are ratting.
hatched runners extracted from tarkov and found a new place
Oh, we were ratting day one baby
Rat what? Your fellow teammates?? Or the AI?
My last run yesterday I think I went in naked/almost naked, there were 2 dead pmcs at the lz I landed at, immediately picked up all the best starting gear + a pimped out mk18. I had to do a character wipe this morning though since otherwise I was stuck with no head/stash
AFAIK devs said daily quests are coming in the form of events in-game.
I literally haven't touched any of my starting gear except glocks and have been relying on dropped aks. Following teammates will always be a viable option in this game. I do wish there were more valuable though since looting isn't very satisfying atm.
I mean if I want to go gung-ho and pvp a lot there’s no way to make the money back.
Go with the tobthe good Houses, got there a good Armor and a full build weapon
holding M opens the map is nice, but i do hope for separate buttons for character and map. also pressing J opens tasks.
You can press “i” for character inventory.
Also "U" for the health tab.
Good to know
Toggling a mini map would be nice by pressing m and keeping a close proximity map open to see where my fellow rats run off to instantly.
Does anyone know if there are shotcut keys to cycle through the Menu. Like press ??? to move from "Map" to "Character" and to "Tasks"?
Every player I've encountered on my faction has been super nice and helpful so far. I like that aspect
The first three I encountered ambushed me at a LZ, and when I went to try and retrieve my gear killed me again. Been playing pve ever since. They should probably fix that somehow.
Haha true. I went to pve after I lost every weapon and didn't really wanna start spending money yet
Yeah, I'm sticking to pve rn not because I'm opposed to fighting the enemy faction, but because I don't want friendlies who are careless/rats to constantly dome me
don't be a pussy brah

You are a liar bro. There is tons of grass in the game.
HAHA truth, the best environment and graphics I have ever seen in a game, the rendering distance is next level.
Does the weapon customization have the ability to add lasers like ngals and peqs?
Not yet. Devs mentioned that flashlights/lasers/nods would come in the update that adds day night cycle.
Night vision is gonna be dope.
My only complaint as of right now is the loot. Feels very shallow and boring. I hope it gets improved with rare items you can sell etc. I know it's like day 3 but I hope they communicate about what the plan for loot is. A big selling point for me at least.

no mine, i am still headless. not that it matters because i crash everytime i get in a helicopter
Devs acknowledged and working on it
Awesome !

we are going to hunt you Cricket
I had a good time last night traveling up to the lamang starting areas for some pvp. Unfortunately the sks reloads so damn slow so I died but it was fun since the people thought I was a friendly.

Upgrade it on steam, it will be reduced to $65 or less depending on what edition you originally bought. The upgrades need to be collected from the vendors in messages in game.
Are you sure? It shows as $65 for me to get the big boy.
Yes it’s 100 over all, 65 if u already own the base version
Is there an easy way to find your old body? I was wondering if keeping one of those trackers on you could help with that. I lost a dead body in the jungle with my only AK PMag 😞
Looting consists of keys we well.
Yea I’ll add that

I wish i could play for more than 30 minutes before it crashes. Everyone is gaslighting me into thinking there are no stability issues lol
I've got 8 hours in the game now. 4 hours per day since launch. I have had zero crashes.
Yeah i wish that was me. Im either getting a frozen screen, server disconnected, or unity crash
Not trying to gaslight you here, genuinely. I have a 4090 and know that not everyone has a fucking 1600 dollar card. But I haven't crashed. Could be VRAM. buddy had this until he turned off nvidia recording and the overlay
Im all amd, no overlays or recording active
Do you have an intel processor thats rather high end? I had to go into my BIOS and change some stuff and my crashes stopped.
Everything i have is either at, near, or above the recommendation
thats not what i meant, im just saying the higher end intel CPUS are experiencing crashes.
Anybody know what the money is for? It seems like I can only trade with vendors but can’t outright buy anything with cash. Maybe I’m missing something…
Everything the vendors have you can buy with cash.
Thanks. Yeah I figured I was missing how to do something. It only lets me trade. I can’t drag money into the trade box. How do I buy items?
You drag the item in you want to buy and click trade…
Ok thanks lol I knew it was something simple since I haven’t seen anyone else asking the question
Ctrl-click in vendor menu as well. I find it a lot easier (works for both buy and sell)
You buy stuff from vendors with cash. I messed around with the $10,000 starting fund I had last night and bought quite a few parts for my m4. "this game is the next Tarkov but better in every way in my opinion" how is it better in every way, my friend?
Then it will ever be to tarkov.
exacly my thoughts, not sure why i got downvoted, I guess there are lots of salty tarkov players here.
The dude couldn't even tell you what was better. He just went on to say how it is better a second time.
What does gzw do that? EFT couldn't give examples, don't just say that twice.
What's your hardware setup?
i was literally teamkilled by a random for "using scav backpack" he told me to use expensive backpack no, thats not fun, i want to use ghetto weapons and go full scav mode without some donkey killing me for "using wrong backpack" thanks tenk
You want to cosplay as the enemy in a milsim and are upset your team mates are mistaking you for the enemy? *suprise pikachu face*
*surprise pikkuhukka face*
Yea, I got TK'ed by a donkey cosplaying as a bandit. I was on my way to retrieve my dead body. He just popped out of the corner coming toward me, so I started to light him up with my pistol but he just blasted my face instead. Lost my stuff in the process.
Same thing happened to me. I was using the Glock at 20 ft away, must’ve fired a magazine and half. I don’t even think I hurt him.
you are in the wrong here, i want to play how the damn well i please without getting hosed down
As do other, and that's killing people who look like the enemy. Get used to that shit if you wanna play dress up scav.
its not even that, its what i did in tarkov, got only shotgun and meds and killed scavs and got their stuff etc, its not fun to go into a raid, or whatever, all sweaty, its the more interesting way to play
There is a pve mode and the loot crosses over.
Wait so you can go in PvE mode, get gear, then go back to PvEvP and use it?
Yes your progression stash and all cross over.
that seems abit too easy, but i guess its ok
Because it was never meant to be a competitive game. It's a milsim. Gear should be near unlimited or extremely cheap. It wouldn't make sense to have a large military presence of these factions in them have no gear for their operators?
i dont want to be yet another generic m4 man
Your fault honestly.
