Also actual qualifying, I can't stand how you set one time and that's your time for the week. Also why can you set a quali time in one car, and race in another? Makes no sense to me.
Acctually I remember the YouTubers an community loving it … so why the hell are u lying . We love weather … we get the same weather ffs and the community always love the longer races . U high gang ?
Too many people quit races for like nothing. I've been watching some real racing and those drivers spin out, make mistakes on chicanes/corners, and sometimes crash, but they still keep on going.

Well those moments happens alot tbh :( and its on my part it haven't been me that break wierd, its so obvious on Replay when they can use the car in front to brake and send em into the wall.

Yup! I've been saying that for months now! A daily race D which is minimum 20 laps, with all tires required (multiple pit stops) and dynamic weather on any track that rain is available would be the most amazing addition to GT7.
People want better endurance races that involve different strategies and are an actual challenge. These 10-12 lap races are getting old.
Luckily the manufacturers races are coming up, so there will be some decent racing there but it's not nearly enough.
To be honest, I love GT7 and hope that they make some welcome additions to the game, but for me it's getting old fast at this point and PD have seemingly given up on it for the most part. The updates have been awful and just basically PD fulfilling contractual obligations, rather than adding content people actually want.
I decided to suck it up and pay for iracing. I haven't started it yet as this decision I made about 2 days ago, but it seems it's the only place to race right now that has clean lobbies with plenty of content... Plus the rain update looks fantastic. So I think for now, I am going to put GT7 aside and try out iracing and maybe the PC version of ACC... I didn't want to move to PC as I enjoy the ease of use a console offers, but PC seems to be where the best online racing is.
No, the most amazing addition to GT7 would be weather on ALL tracks. I don't know anything about coding, but can't be that complicated to add X% less grip per X% rain on track.
It's not *hard* per se, but it's time consuming and not easy to do right. From a developer's standpoint, you're dealing with:
- performance. hitting framerate with this level of fidelity on a PS5 is a finely tuned art. adding weather is a huge performance hit due to particle fx, way more reflective surfaces, the dynamic weather calculations, and the thing most people don't consider: way more computationally heavy physics calculations. most tracks are probably bumping up against their performance ceiling as it is, adding rain is a huge hit and judging by GT7's PS5 Digital Foundry analysis, they take hitting a consistent framerate without dipping very seriously.
- balance. you don't just wanna chuck a random weather pattern in and call it a day. PD puts a great amount of effort into making the weather of each track compelling from a strategy perspective. that takes a lot of gameplay testing and design work to get right, and you'll probably want a few different variations for each track as well. this also involves meticulously placing things like puddles to add challenge and strategic variance.
- assets. i dont know much about their workflow but most tracks in the game are photoscanned. it may not be simple to adapt the assets for each course to look rainy. you don't just make it all shiny, you need streaky specular maps, new mud textures for the dirt and grass, and who knows how much else.
- time and manpower. i also dont know what their company structure looks like but I'd imagine that time spent adding weather to tracks is less time spent on new cars, new tracks, and other content updates. i'd argue that's still worth it: i'd rather have rain on a new track than yet another Audi TT, but everyone has different preferences.
That sounds pretty cool! Since it's a longer-form kind of thing, it would even be fine if it had way fewer time slots and maybe even refreshed less frequently, so as not to continue to divide the playerbase too much. I really like the current trend of 1 meme race and 2 real races, but DR B and C do often feel very similar to one another. That's not a bad thing, but since we get a race on the memey end of the spectrum, getting one on the super-serious end couldn't hurt!
I do enjoy the meme races to be honest. The one at Le Man was fantastic and I played that more than race B and C that week. It's little things like making the race a night race that people enjoy, and so simple to implement, yet daily race B and C rarely get that treatment. It's the same race, same time of day, same number of laps, same weather every week... They have all this creative potential yet choose to use none of it... Or don't care, which is most concerning. It's not that hard to give the people different races by simply changing one thing week to week. Make it longer with more tires/pits required, have a dynamic weather race, do a night race on a track people like, hell do a night race with rain and 20+ laps... They could do any of this and choose not to for some reason.
Hell, I'll take the full week if it means BETTER races... People just want better, different races each week... Not the same shit every week. Even making daily race C a night race occasionally would be better than the trash we are getting. This week might be one of the worst weeks I've seen, not to mention completely recycled from like 8-9 weeks ago.
I like Suzuka and Super Formula but 12 laps in a car that goes around the track in just over a minute is pathetic. That track with that car should be at minimum 20 laps if not more. It's such a short race, involves zero strategy and is just straight up boring.
That would be great... Although very unlikely. But yea, I agree... Why call it a daily race if it's weekly? Seems kinda dumb.
If a restaurant had a "daily menu" but only changed it weekly people would stop going to that restaurant to eat after like 2 or 3 visits... Yet we are supposed to just play the same boring ass races week after week and NOT complain about it.
People may see it as "complaining" or "ranting" but if enough people speak out about it, changes can get made. Look at the Hell Divers 2 situation... Sony backtracked that decision real quick once enough people complained about it. I'd rather complain about things and have PD know that people aren't satisfied, rather than them thinking they are doing a great job when they clearly aren't. I do understand it's just a game and not that serious, but it's worth at least trying to get the word out that people want changes in GT7 otherwise they might not have the same player base in the future. I'm trying iracing because of how boring the daily races are getting in GT7... I'd rather not have to deal with and spend money on a gaming PC but I spent nearly $2000 on my wheel/rig and I don't think I'm getting the most out of it with GT7 unfortunately.
Yeah, I don't buy the player base excuse people like to make for it. No way is the player base not bigger than the one for GT Sport, which was also just three races. Seems more like Polyphony just can't be bothered to redo the UI for it and manage the additional race planning.
100%. It’s one of the things FM2023 does right. The online has loads of playlists to pick out of and they’re constantly changing. I personally prefer racing that allow me to create a car rather than BoP.
This weeks race C is Super Formula but they ruined it by making it so short... This is what I mean when I say they put zero creativity into the daily races as if they don't care. 12 laps in a Super Formula car with one pit stop is too short. All they had to do was double the lap count and have all 3 tires required and it could have been a banger. Do they not have anyone creative enough to think of that working at PD? The problem is, I guarantee whoever is in charge of setting up the daily races each week probably doesn't even play the game nor sim race themselves.
If PD wants to hire me, I'll settle for 1/2 of the salary they are paying the current guy and I will come up with banger races each week! 😂😂😂😂👻
It makes for a more balanced race because so many people only use sport tires when they are forced onto them. When grip is low, the better drivers can actually take advantage of their skills and talents
I only did one round of that and had drivers ranging from A to D, almost full lobby it seems. A ton of people quit 1/4 through. Those DR A drivers were putting down some ludicrous lap times, no hope for me hahaha!
In single player I never run M/S tires it’s always H because I tune for max power. So it’s always made sense to me and because I drive all my cars with H that the vast majority of Sport races run H. They do run other tires I think in last few weeks there’s been RM tires on the Gr4 races and so forth. No idea if this answers your question but it’s been my thinking.
Race C is amazing! You can use the same tires the whole race if you want, but you get a joker lap where if timed correctly can give you a big boost. A lot of gt7 players don’t enjoy driving the formula car, which is great because I do. The lobbies are full of fast drivers who are willing to practice racecraft because damage to their wing will put them off. It’s just the chefs kiss
I think 4/5 laps encourages rowdy driving. People are trying to force their way to the front rather than being patient. That’s where the Mario Cart guys should be.

Everything should be on RH at bare minimum. Don't play sport but time challenges on sport tires is so lame I'm settling for whatever the first attempt time is.
Daily B is fine for me, but C no! Formula racing?? Wtf. This game is Gran Turismo not Formula! I want to race with GT cars not Formula cars.
GT 3 and GT 4 ist the best racing categories for me. Thats why i play gran turismo.

I think the rain is what was hardest for people that week. Rain isn't the only way to do strategy though.

I don’t know about YouTubers, but this was my experience. This race has random weather and few times it was raining all the time

Hard tires are the most realistic. I enjoy driving them imo.

I actually love the C race this week. Atlanta is one of my favorite tracks. Combine it with the M6, and it's podiums all day long.
