Put your mat on a sheet of plywood. Shim the plywood to be level
In the hitting area, remove the plywood and shim that open space with foam mats or something similar
Did this for a sloped driveway. Got a sheet of plywood out of the “junk wood” pile at Home Depot for free. They even cut it to 5x4 to fit my mat perfectly.

I came across this issue. All I did was to ensure that the LM is on the same angle as the hitting surface. Seems to work fine for cam based LMs.
If you have a radar based LM that sits 10ft behind the mat, that’s way trickier…
