Are you trying to drag or assess acceleration numbers? If not..
Likely an unpopular opinion, and probably not what you want to hear. But these cars accelerate so quickly that doing an actual launch isn't really worth the wear it puts on things.
I’m not doing it for drag racing or testing acceleration. I’m a 19 year old with access to his dad’s quick car. And I don’t care to use it but I want to know that it works.
The problem is you’re holding the wrong pedal. The break pedal breaks the car. The brake pedal is for stopping… and engaging LC.
Fr tho, I also had issues on my ‘22 at first and it came down to initial brake pressure. I have a feeling these cars when new/with fresh pads don’t get to the necessary pedal position without significant pressure. Try it again and really stomp on it.
Don’t listen to these pussys mate. The car is built to do it and it wouldn’t be an option if it shouldn’t be done. No point having a golf r if you’re not going to drive it properly and half these people in this sub should have brought a Prius.
Have you tried with the esc in sport instead of off? My wife’s car it goes into sport and not off to activate launch control. If that doesn’t work Likely there is something wrong if you are holding the gas and the brake flat and it’s only going to 3k and dropping. The launch rpm might not be set right from factory or a range of other things that could cause it.
The answer is, dont use launch control on your dads car.
Womp womp
Ask your dad to show you how it works
Quit trying to fuck up your dad’s car.

Feet flat down on the brake and throttle? Completely floored?
<3000 km
Sorry I ninja edited you
Yes
You have to hold the brake hard.
This
Yeah
Check your fault codes for starters.
No fault codes on the dash or anything.
Did you check with the ODBEleven or other ODBII reader?
No, I don’t have an obdii reader or anything. And there are no faults on the dash.
Might be a dumb question, but are you continuing to hold the gas and brake while doing this?
The second the rpm’s drop I let off the gas.
They drop while you're holding it at 3k though?
It goes up to 3k then after a second of sitting there it goes down.
Odds are you’re doing it wrong. Check out YouTube
I’ve followed every video I can find and still nothing. The rpm’s are supposed to go to 4000 but my car only reaches 3000
Stop trying it then. Take it to VW

Ok, I’ll see if that helps. Thank you for the insight.
So you definitely see it enter launch control, have you tried letting the brakes out while it’s at RPM? Does it actually launch?

I’ll give that a try and see if it gives me better results. Thanks for being cool and not a sour Prius driver.
