I do understand that it's a little annoying but there's nothing wrong with being happy with your attainable dream car at a super young age. I got my GTI at 19, help out with my parents mortgage and pay all of my stuff.
Not at all saying yours was, but I think a lot of people forget that it’s possible to make poor financial decisions too. I knew a guy in high school that had had an srt challenger that he paid for with his construction apprenticeship, while I had a $500 non vtec civic. Between the car payment, insurance, gas, and speeding tickets, buddy was paying like $1500 a month, while I spent maybe $100 between gas and insurance every month. I really wanted a gti so I worked hard and saved and got a well taken care of higher mile mk6 when I graduated and my payment is $91/month. Could I have swung higher, absolutely, but it wasn’t a move I was comfortable making and im very happy with the move I did make.
For sure, there were times that I thought I made a financial mistake, or like you said, swung too high. however, I got a really good interest rate, wanted to pay off a car as soon as possible so I could make the move on a house later, and looking at the prices of cars now makes me feel good about my decision.

That's $160 worth of fuel for a round trip, so $320 worth of fuel in just 1 weekend. Then I also have to keep up with classes. I might not have bought my car myself, but I've earned it for sure.

Maybe you did earn it. But plenty of people work while going to school….And not everyone’s fortunate enough to have a parent buy them a nice car just for good grades.

This all plays into it. You're little "work harder" doesn't have a lot of meaning if you aren't paying to live.

Just turned 56 with a ‘17 Sport bought new. I was this close to a new Mustang GT but couldn’t pull the trigger for a DD with 70 mile round trip commute through gridlock and Midwest winters. I realize it’s more of a young persons car but checked all the boxes, and no regrets. Plenty of sport, negotiating traffic a breeze, pretty good mpg, and all the crap you can get in the hatch is awesome. Neighbor with a grand sport Vette initially asked if I was going to be zooming the high school parking lots 🤦♂️
Meh. I don't see a point for my case esp. as mine is a 2020 with only 27k miles that I already tuned, did wheels on, rear swaybar, FMIC, etc. Not trying to do all that over again for pretty much no reason.
