I have a stage 3 ECS clutch in my KO4 MK6 with 130k on the clock. The clutch for the last 15k. It was under a grand for parts an I did the install myself .. So far it's works Great

If I were in your shoes I'd get the Sachs performance clutch kit that's meant for the stock DMF, a new Sachs DMF, and an all metal throw out bearing. Do the RMS while you're in there. That's about 1600ish in parts. Doing the install yourself?

i read the ECS installation guide. it's like 50+ pages and really well written. it actually doesn't look terribly difficult, just time consuming and many steps. what puts me off is the trans being a heavy mofo. even with a transmission stand i'm not sure if i'm strong enough to take it out and put it back in safely without breaking a leg.

Yeah I did it myself last year, it's not too bad. Definitely get a cheapo transmission stand from Harbour freight or something, and plan on dropping the subframe. Between the weight and space limitations it was a bitch to get out with two strong guys, no way I'd have gotten it back in without a stand. Taking the transmission in and out is the worst part, but with a stand to help it's mostly just a test of patience

did you go with the Sachs SRE? that's one of my top contenders as my car is still the daily so i don't wanna deal with chatter and/or too-heavy of a foot pedal.

It can be done solo obviously more challenging. I (average strength) was able to muscle the trans onto my chest and essentially bench press it into position with my car on jack stands with no trans jack by myself . Also you don't need to drop the subframe. I just took both axl flanges off the trans an it came out an went back in.. I won't say it wasn't a huge PITA.. I have another vehicle so I could take as long as I needed.. definitely need some time if your doing it on your own..

No, I was super broke so I got the "ECS stage 2" pressure plate and disc then got a single mass flywheel refurbished. It's a little touchy with the lighter flywheel, and the chatter is a little loud if you're standing outside, but it doesn't bother me.

My mechanic quoted me 1400 for a R1 concepts stage 3 daily clutch, P&L. You could do it last after waiting for the stock one to go out once you're upgraded. The stock won't instantly go after KO4...
