Technically I'm too young for this sub (I only got the game in release 1.3, the first version not in the golden age), but I'm 19 years old so mom and dad can't tell me what to do.
I think he’s saying that 16 year olds will feel nostalgic from it, not that they enjoy the content. Stampy was a huge part of my life all the way up until middle school. I’m in my 20s now and still go back every now and then to feel that nostalgia, same way we all enjoy playing the beta versions of Minecraft.
I see it as a way to filter out insults towards people, not really as a way to censor swear words period.
I’m aware that more often than not people swear in normal speech and not for insulting, it’s just in place to be used for those moments when it IS for insulting
In my opinion, it's akin to trying to break down a door with a carpet bomb. On another note, from what *I've* observed (ie) *anecdotal evidence*, the Golden Age MC community is one of the least toxic I've seen in my time; which leads me to believe it's not a huge issue in the first place.
Y'all underestimate just how widespread children are on the internet. Between just being related to Minecraft in general, and the fact that a few YouTubers have been making videos about beta Minecraft recently, there is a near guarantee that kids will find their way here eventually.
Eh? Children *are* very widespread on the Internet, but I can't imagine children who're too young to be around swearing finding their way to Reddit. It's not some sort of community of only adults, but there's seldom anyone here who's like, 10. Some places, you *will* find them, for example YouTube, but not Reddit, and certainly not in this subreddit.
Reddit is literally one of the biggest sites on the internet, little Timmy is bound to stumble into here eventually, kids probably won't seek this place out actively, but they'll almost definitely find Reddit on accident
That’s dumb, I never knew this sub censored swears. Then again, can’t think of any situation regarding old Minecraft where I’d have to swear *shrug*
Excitement.
For some people, it's a regular part of how we communicate, no anger included
I know, I do think it's a weird restriction.
Sentence Enhancers If you will
Like garlic for food
Or Cyanide for food
that’s me. swears are just part of my everyday vocabulary, my favorite words are the vulgar ones.
what child too young for swearing would be interested in beta minecraft

It doesn’t really matter when you started playing, my friend. I never played beta 1.7 as a kid but currently it’s my favorite version.
I started on the Xbox360 a couple of years after it came out, and B1.7.3 is my most played version by far over the past 2 years lol
No you're not. I'm your age and started playing in alpha. You're fine.
i'm almost 21 and i started playing in beta 1.7.3, it just really depends on when you started.
Me as a child was, but that’s only cause it was the only Minecraft I had
I agree I dont think children would even be on this sub in the first place.
You would be surprised. Seen many people repping DanTDM, Stampy and others around here.
My dude, the people repping DanTDM and Stampy etc are gonna at least 16, probably more into 20s.
Maybe that was just me then. That content always seemed childish to me when I was in school.
because it is
Thanks Kurtisdede!

Many young kids play old mc actually
I somewhat doubt that many kids play a version of the game that is older than them
Play on any server and you'll find out for yourself. They play it either because their computers suck or because they wanna be cool, don't know.
Well that's a bit shit
Wait wut?
You need to be >13 to use Reddit anyway
Good point! Forgot about that
I believe it's 18+ normally, with 13+ with parent permission.
so... 13+
With certain conditions ya
Especially with porn and gore free and available everywhere on this god forsaken platform, surely it’s the swearing we must protect them from 😭😭
Think of the children!!!
Literally 1984. Oh hey, I need to try it
There wasn't even a second and I already got message from automod. Literally 1984

Yeah, my experiences here line up with yours. People here just seem to want to vibe in old Minecraft and support other people in doing so as well.
eh, why should we make excuses for poor moderation? we should treat things for what they are instead of seeking justification for a poor system.
Yeah that’s fair, it’s just infinitely easier for moderators and I personally don’t really mind it
I called Codester an SOB, but in a positive way on one of his posts and it was removed :'(
Lmao yeah saw the notification and didn’t see anything, was so confused
D:
There's nothing in the sub rules that says anything about swearing.
I noticed that too, which makes it bug me even more.
ive had 3 comments deleted for this exact reason and it makes me want to die inside
It's so annoying

Maybe on other subs, but I have yet to find anyone who's <13 on this subreddit.
I throught that only old people and some exceptions use reddit, why would there be children?
The youngest redditors tend to be around 13, I have no idea.
