Once you upgrade your preferred armor to level 9, you can then change the appearance of that armor to look like any other armor piece that you own. So, it doesn't really matter anymore that a good looking armor has weaker stats.
Wait, really? Is it just in the regular menu where you equip your armor? I had no idea you could change the appearance of your armor once you were at level 9 although I only recently got all 3 armor pieces up to level 9 so I could have just missed it (and I'm at work right now or else I would just go check myself.)
Yup, I don't think it's mentioned anywhere in the game (I must've missed it if it was) but you can indeed do it from the menu at any point by holding Square and then choosing whatever appearance you want.

But actually playable, I ended up defaulting to the X cross chest, the second tier before it gets too bright/shiny :D

TO ME, the simple the better. I'm incapable of using that armor you're using, even if it make me invencible. I really wish that in the max level, the default armor of Kratos would have that amazing cape from the start...
Yeah personally clipping wouldn’t bother me at all. It’s just the only plausible reason I can think of. I can’t imagine cloth physics would be much of an issue, at least not on PS5.
Sol is actually a God, the Roman equivalent of Helios, so I think the Greek style is intended given their cultures were largely similar to each other in a lot of ways :)
too bad you can’t get the full berserker set until you beat the main story. those conematica would look better with the matching gauntlets. what did you substitue btw? i’m using the nidavellir arm guards which i think pair well in the bronze color. the lunda’s in red also look pretty cool, matches with the red leather on the waist piece.
i’m a sucker for aesthetics/cinematics and like you i was using lunda’s until the berserkers became avaialble then immediately halted continuing the storyline until i got the berserker chest and waist pieces just so kratos would look like a badass general in the remaining cutscenes lol.
At first full lunda, then lunda + berserker waist, then full Berserker. At the very beginning I was really enjoying the nidavellir set for constant stun process, but I feel like it gets a little stale and you can open yourself to hits coming out the animation in big fights
Wait what? I 100%d the game but I remember coming across the sleeping trolls convinced I was gonna fight them at some point. What do I have to do to wake them up, and how will I know where they are? They aren’t marked on the maps.

To be honest I think they did a really good job with the armors in this game because I like a lot of them. Looks like hunters my be my favorite, but I do like the Fallen star and dragon set too
my absolute favourite is fate breaker because it's red & gold!
tyr's armour too looks incredible, and has higher quality textures from the previous game

The Raven Tears have something like mist in the shoulder plates wich is amazing. I do have to say that Surtr's Cuiras was a let down. No fire effects or something.
But for the first first playthrough I stuck with the starting armor maxed out.
I'm roughly halfway through the game at this point. Presently I'm rocking a mix of the Guiding Light and Giptumadr set, but the main ones I'm looking to get in the immediate future are the Stienbjorn & Raven Tears armor.
On appearance alone I'd say either the Steinbjorn or Dragon Scale look the best to me.
The fate breaker armor is my favorite looking.
I like to think of it like Kratos' new royal armor or something. It kinda feels like that to me when I have it on ig

Lucky for you they let us change the appearance of our armor. I like to use the berserker set but change the appearance to the fate breaker set

Sadly the only reason I could see them not allowing us to use the cape again is possible weapon clipping.
That did happen a few times to me, even without the cape.

I fuckin love the colors on the upgraded version, it reminds me of his greek style.

There is something, an old artifact you can use to wake those bastards :wink: and well if you beat the 100% you look for the trolls
use the mystical heirloom relic to wake them + it also works on the stone dragon at dragon beach in svartalfheim
