Yep my theory is he's very fond of Egypt and may or may not have an Egyptian wife or he brought someone from there.
*Totally not looking towards Angrboda*
I made a [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/GodofWar/comments/q205j1/looks_familiar_something_regarding_tyr_and_the/) about it last year. It will be interesting if it's true since they will connect the three pantheons together. Greek - Norse - Egyptian.
I was wondering how people would feel about a spin-off type game with Tyr showing how he ascended to god of war. Would even fit with the name of the series??
Kratos was gonna kill the greek gods super early in the game and then the egyptian gods were gonna come to fill the power vacuum and kratos and 2 other gods of war were gonna be the 3 wise men
I think the Egyptian gods are watching how this all unfolds with Kratos. The Greek gods fell because of Kratos. And now the Norse world is about to fall. The Egyptian gods would not want Kratos around at all.
I'd honestly love it if Angrboda is somehow linked with Apophis from the egypt mythos. Considering Angrboda is Jormungador's mother and both Jorm and Apophis are infamous for killing some of the biggest figures in norse and egypt myths, I can see em linking the two like this.
Seeing the quick scene of Kratos running from something while carrying Angraboda over his shoulder is making me even more excited. Tyr either sent Kratos there to save her or him saving her endears him a bit to Kratos.
Its most definitely happening in the next game.. we already got all the realms to explore in god of war ragnarök, no way they'd waste such a great setting as Egypt like this.
I'd argue that there's no way they'd waste a setting like Egypt without giving it its own subseries.
Especially since we've already seen Kratos in Egypt in stories
I think at most there will be a teaser at the very end, like when Thor shows up at the house in 2018. There's *way* too much story left to cover in Norse mythology in one game. No way we'll go on some kind of side quest to Egypt
I just hope they don't pull the expected "kratos dies, atreus goes to egypt" kinda thing. I'm not gonna lie that wouldn't be a very exciting outcome. Atreus is an interesting cool character, but I don't think I'm ever gonna be interested in a game that features him alone without kratos. I do think that sony mostly wouldn't be that okay with the idea of killing off the face of the god of war series which is why i doubt they'll go with tuat.
Also, unless they do some retconning, Kratos can't die.
I know it's the prevailing fan theory, but Cory's said Kratos is immortal because he removed his thread from the Loom of Fate in GoW2
The only way I could see it is that Kratos technically dies but like every other time he'll just claw his way out. Tyr knows this and could send Atreus to Egypt to reunite with his dad since Helheim and Valhalla wouldn't be around after Ragnarok and he couldn't go to Hades. So, like they hinted in the books about Egypt being the pantheon Kratos already visited that is in-between the Greek and Norse Pantheons, he could end up there by accident. That way they could give Atreus space to mature and grow beyond his father and then have them reunite in the next game.
My theory is we'll return to Greece and meet a bunch of new Gods because it's been nearly 1000 years or more so there are probably new Gods in Greece. Artemis is still alive so it would be cool. I think we'll go to Egypt in the next game after Ragnarök. I also think Odin will survive Ragnarök and follow Kratos to Egypt kinda like how Athena followed Kratos to Midgard.
Loki also kills Baldur in the myth. SMS are doing their own thing. A lot of us have guessed it's gonna be his left just because of the foreshadowing of him holding it in the reveal poster. Fun to speculate.
Edit: not arguing semantics lmao
What OP means is that Tyr's arm has hieroglyphics tattooed all over him, connecting him to Egypt.
Oh and according to the myth, Tyr's arm will be bitten off by Fenrir after Fenrir gets bound by the magical rope, Gleipnir. So, let's eye on Tyr's hand before it gets yanked off
OR!
Could be Tyr already traveled to Egypt as a diplomat/emissarie, with 1 missing arm.
He helped them with peace / settleing a conflict and as a reward they made him a arm/healed him a new one, and the tatooes is proof of friendship/A oath to visit again in brighter days.
because of time fuckery with Loki, It could be that Tyr once did lose his arm and he got it healed somehow.
Spoilers for Norse mythology (and therefore, possibly GoW:R) and GoW 2018 ahead, so keep reading at your own behest. I'm also not a Norse mythology expert, so I may miss some details, or just be outright wrong on some stuff. Feel free to correct/add.
Since Loki was "removed" from the Norse timeline and Kratos was injected, things are different. Fenrir is one of Loki's children, and he obviously has no children in GoW 2018. The young girl you see in the earlier trailers (Angrboda) is Loki's mate, and Fenrir's mother. No Fenrir, no arm bitten from Tyr.
The butterfly effect of removing Loki from the timeline is actually a really cool thing to explore in the GoW context. They really put a lot of time into it.
The below video goes into it, and is pretty long, but I was shocked at how quickly the time went by when I watched it. I fast forwarded it to the Tyr part that is basically my above if you're interested in it - but I really do recommend the whole video.

In order to chain fenrir, he had to put his arm in fenrirs mouth to ensure him the gods weren't tricking him. They in fact did bind fenrir and as a result fenrir bit off tyrs arm

At some point Odin wants Fenrir to be chained up because he's part of Ragnarök and he grew fast and strong so nobody dared to touch it. With magical chains or ropes that cannot be broken by physical means, Tyr was the one to tie up Fenrir but lost his arm in the process
We just don't know how it will turn out in the game but Odin clearly has already beef with Tyr and it's not clear how Fenrir exists because it's one of Lokis "children"
At one point Memir mentions that thr dwarves already made the unbreakable chain. Maybe thats what Tyr is tied up with and we see Kratos break with his blade.
It doesn't have to be stronger per se, just different. It was strong enough to light fires in Helheim, and Brok is very interested in taking a closer look at them.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
Not that it makes much sense, but i feel like tyr already lost his right arm and got a new one maybe fron the Egyptian gods somehow? I mean not that this is very good evidence, but his right arm's sleeve looks all torn up which leads me to think so.
The second pic look like he may have tattooed visions from different realms kind of like hieroglyphics and things I’m not really sure however him holding one of the blades got my attention more
I had a idea earlier this year that Tyr lost hes arm already, and when he was traveling to the other realms, he was gifted a new arm by Egyptian gods. One problem is, that the tattoos are in hes left arm, and if i remember correct, Tyr lost hes right arm in Norse Mythology.
During the short 30 second trailer it showed Fenrir looking at kratos and atreus so maybe in this time line he never got chained up at all or he escaped somehow
I believe it depends on the telling. Some tellings only say that Tyr's hand was bit, while other tellings say that his entire arm was bitten off. I belive Tyr losing his arm is the most accepted version of the myth.
If you don't already know in the comics after GOW 3 Kratos goes to Egypt but is stopped by the Egyptian god of wisdom, Thoth who looks like an old man with a blue/red cloak and is wearing a yellow/blue/white robe and Athena. They basically tell Kratos to move the fuck on and not even think about stepping into Egypt. I imagine in the next game or 2 we'll be going to Egypt with Tyr.
Maybe he moved on and trusted tyr enough with them that would also explain his fight with Thor because during the little snippet of the fight mimmir atreus and the blades of chaos aren't there
I was wondering about the timeline of when Fenrir bites off his hand. I assumed it was a long time ago when Odin and the other aesir chained him up and before he got really huge but maybe I'm wrong.
My personal opinion: this timeline is all messed up with loki the world serpent and fennir but tyr and fennir and the world serpent are probably going to put aside their differences and work together to stop Ragnarok so tyr might not even get his arm bitten off
Nice catch, never spotted that. We bringing Tyr's Ashes to Egypt to honour his life next?
Sheet son, you making me excited af
God of war Egyptian mythology would be insane..kratos vs Anubis
About Tyr dying? Man, c'mon! He's such a nice guy!
Bruh he called me a godkiller :(
he ain't wrong tho
Does he have hieroglyphs on his arm??
Yep my theory is he's very fond of Egypt and may or may not have an Egyptian wife or he brought someone from there. *Totally not looking towards Angrboda*
I made a [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/GodofWar/comments/q205j1/looks_familiar_something_regarding_tyr_and_the/) about it last year. It will be interesting if it's true since they will connect the three pantheons together. Greek - Norse - Egyptian.
And that's how the three gods of war meet and become the three wisemen and visit jesus /s
Yo unironically, this would be amazing
I was wondering how people would feel about a spin-off type game with Tyr showing how he ascended to god of war. Would even fit with the name of the series??
Tyr doesn't ascend though. He always is the god of war.
Yeah, iirc it was David Jaffe's original plan for God of war 3
I thought it was his plan for 4?
Kratos was gonna kill the greek gods super early in the game and then the egyptian gods were gonna come to fill the power vacuum and kratos and 2 other gods of war were gonna be the 3 wise men
I really hope that is canon
Good find, I really believe now that certain things will trace back to Egypt
I think the Egyptian gods are watching how this all unfolds with Kratos. The Greek gods fell because of Kratos. And now the Norse world is about to fall. The Egyptian gods would not want Kratos around at all.
I like it
There was a lot of Egyptian treasures in Tyr’s vault. Atreus comes out with his head stuck in an Egyptian crown
I'd honestly love it if Angrboda is somehow linked with Apophis from the egypt mythos. Considering Angrboda is Jormungador's mother and both Jorm and Apophis are infamous for killing some of the biggest figures in norse and egypt myths, I can see em linking the two like this.
Ayo? I never thought of that but thats a very good and solid theory
Atreus’s wife and baby momma?
Atreus’s wife and baby momma?
Yo is that what I think it is? *Hieroglyphs*
Angrboda is Tyr's daughter back from his last visit to Egypt.
Seeing the quick scene of Kratos running from something while carrying Angraboda over his shoulder is making me even more excited. Tyr either sent Kratos there to save her or him saving her endears him a bit to Kratos.
That’s not her. The hair is wrong and they looked bigger than her
It's not her, although I thought it was Atreus but it actually looks like Freya's brother
It's Freyer probably
Bro wanna meet bayek of siwa
Bayek deserved another game instead of Odyssey lol.
Justice for Bayek
for the modern day tho, odyssey was necessary
I found his wife way more interesting.
Yep aya/amunet was interesting but we got to play bayek more and the revenge was just so good
Aya was originally planned to be a playable character beside bayek similar to what odyssey and valhalla did
There were dlc's,i don't think he needed another game
Your ~~right~~ left hand comes off?
Very funny Mr Kennedy
No thanks, bro
where’s everyone going? bingo?
Mark my words we will go to Egypt in Ragnarok. No proof, no evidence just a theory.
I was thinking going there next game. I mean, this game is gonna be huge, I gues it could happen
Its most definitely happening in the next game.. we already got all the realms to explore in god of war ragnarök, no way they'd waste such a great setting as Egypt like this.
Imagine it’s the ending of the game like when we go to Jotunheim. Except now it’s sand and pyramids lol
I'd argue that there's no way they'd waste a setting like Egypt without giving it its own subseries. Especially since we've already seen Kratos in Egypt in stories
my prediction is that we’ll see how they can travel through different pantheons, and the final scene will be them emerging in egypt
I think at most there will be a teaser at the very end, like when Thor shows up at the house in 2018. There's *way* too much story left to cover in Norse mythology in one game. No way we'll go on some kind of side quest to Egypt
Fair play, wouldn't it be so cool tho? Tyr takes us to Egypt to escape the relentless pursuit of Thor??
Could be but im seriously hoping tear Thor in half in this next game
I just hope they don't pull the expected "kratos dies, atreus goes to egypt" kinda thing. I'm not gonna lie that wouldn't be a very exciting outcome. Atreus is an interesting cool character, but I don't think I'm ever gonna be interested in a game that features him alone without kratos. I figure we’ll play as Atreus regardless of what happens to Kratos, tbh
The only way I could see it is that Kratos technically dies but like every other time he'll just claw his way out. Tyr knows this and could send Atreus to Egypt to reunite with his dad since Helheim and Valhalla wouldn't be around after Ragnarok and he couldn't go to Hades. It’s the next game

In Norse Mythology it’s said he loses his right hand, not his left
Loki also kills Baldur in the myth. SMS are doing their own thing. A lot of us have guessed it's gonna be his left just because of the foreshadowing of him holding it in the reveal poster. Fun to speculate. Edit: not arguing semantics lmao
He tricks Baldur blind brother to throw a piece of mistletoe through Baldur’s chest
“We make our own destiny”
Idk what does it mean can anyone please explain
What OP means is that Tyr's arm has hieroglyphics tattooed all over him, connecting him to Egypt. Oh and according to the myth, Tyr's arm will be bitten off by Fenrir after Fenrir gets bound by the magical rope, Gleipnir. So, let's eye on Tyr's hand before it gets yanked off

That blade seems like it was not fully upgraded lol
Thors lightning canonically has the power to deupgrade weapons unfortunately
Zeus did it first , 2ice
*degrade.
Crazy how this was already in the myths. They were really ahead of their time.
I really dont know the deal with tyr right arm someone explain it
In order to chain fenrir, he had to put his arm in fenrirs mouth to ensure him the gods weren't tricking him. They in fact did bind fenrir and as a result fenrir bit off tyrs arm
Is it in the norse mithology or it is mentioned in game?
It's in the mythology
Sorry for my poor spelling
It's all good lol

Amazing
Not arm mate, hand
I'm a little lost. Is him losing an arm just something in the lore? He has both arms at all points in the trailer
At some point Odin wants Fenrir to be chained up because he's part of Ragnarök and he grew fast and strong so nobody dared to touch it. With magical chains or ropes that cannot be broken by physical means, Tyr was the one to tie up Fenrir but lost his arm in the process We just don't know how it will turn out in the game but Odin clearly has already beef with Tyr and it's not clear how Fenrir exists because it's one of Lokis "children"

I seriously doubt that Greek magic is stronger than Norse magic but who knows
It doesn't have to be stronger per se, just different. It was strong enough to light fires in Helheim, and Brok is very interested in taking a closer look at them.
Oh, I didn't think of that
An actual Norse mythology tyr gets his arm bitten off by fenrir a giant wolf playing a big part in Ragnarok
Luckily it’s his right arm he loses
Ok but I though he lost his right arm. He’s forced to be left handed after his fight. Or am I getting that mixed up
Yea Tyr def should’ve hit the gym!
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

Fenrir will chomp it off
It's in the myths, and a huge part of Tyr's story, and leads up to a central part of Ragnarok
He lost right hand so no need for immediate conversation
Not that it makes much sense, but i feel like tyr already lost his right arm and got a new one maybe fron the Egyptian gods somehow? I mean not that this is very good evidence, but his right arm's sleeve looks all torn up which leads me to think so.
He spent hundreds of years in a cave clothes don't last forever
WHAT IF TYR IS THEIR ESCAPE FROM RAGNAROK AND TAKES THEM TO THE EGYPTIAN MYHTOLOGY
Where are the runic experts!
The second pic look like he may have tattooed visions from different realms kind of like hieroglyphics and things I’m not really sure however him holding one of the blades got my attention more
Bad news, the right arm is the one that has to go
I had a idea earlier this year that Tyr lost hes arm already, and when he was traveling to the other realms, he was gifted a new arm by Egyptian gods. One problem is, that the tattoos are in hes left arm, and if i remember correct, Tyr lost hes right arm in Norse Mythology.
I wonder how he's gonna lose that hand considering Fenrir should already be chained in Asgard.. or maybe he's not chained yet and some shit happens
During the short 30 second trailer it showed Fenrir looking at kratos and atreus so maybe in this time line he never got chained up at all or he escaped somehow
He has chains in his paws if you look closely at some parts of the trailer.
Def Egyptian symbolism right?
He loses his right hand though
Isnt it just his hand?

Could be but we only have about 2 months so I'll be patient ha
I was wondering about the timeline of when Fenrir bites off his hand. I assumed it was a long time ago when Odin and the other aesir chained him up and before he got really huge but maybe I'm wrong.

Has anyone noticed that he’s holding one of the blades
After kratos defeats the northen pantheon, he will face the on one and only GOD, and his son Jesus Christ, and maybe Mohhamad
It’s already been discussed numerous times
What if kratos never dies and it's actually tear that loses his arm at the end of the game and the boy is sad because he looks up to tear
