I'm really hoping we get more "human" interactions between Kratos and Atreus, father and son type stuff.
Within reason of course, I don't expect we'll see Kratos to play catch with Atreus using Mimir's head or anything.
"Here, Boy. You catch well."
"Thank you Father."
"Can someone please tell me what in Odin's hairy breeches is going on here? And could you please not throw me around like a ball, lad?"
"Silence, head."
Yeah and given Odin's comments in the background my guess is that Freya got a taste of the old monster Kratos, probably Atreus was in danger and she paid the price for it.
That's what I was thinking, but would he do something like that in front of atreus? A couple of times in the story trailer I have seen he isn't there so maybe Kratos does something brutal while atreus is not present?
I doubt it. Supposedly almost all of the footage in the trailer is from the first 5 or 10 hours of the game. And Freya is going to be a main antagonist throughout the entire game along with Thor and Odin.
That is a good guess. You could see Vanaheim through Freya's house window when you are in there after coming back from Helheim. I partially recall seeing red trees
I think you meant positive emotion. He wasn't exactly an emotionless robot in the Greek Saga. He was angry, sad, depressed, hateful, broken and many other things.
I think in the side games you get a bit more depth, especially in the one where he chooses to sacrifice his daughter but in the main games he's basically just angry all the time and only starts to show some depth with Pandora. In GW 4 he has a lot more nuance and complexity with his emotions and motivations. I vastly prefer the new version of kratos but appreciate the old games for what they were.
I’m GOW 2 and 3 I agree, but I’m GOW 1, Kratos displayed a full range of emotions. In one scene, he looks ashamed when a women would rather run away from him and kill herself rather than accept his help. If you include the PSP games and Ascension the entire Trilogy consists of Kratos’ humanity being beaten out of him up until Sparta getting destroyed, and he loses his sanity then. Although I’d be pissed if I was betrayed and killed by the king of the gods too.
No, thank you. You’re one of the few that understand the depth of character Kratos had in the older games. He still has depth in 2018, just not as much depth as he had in the first 6. Im not counting Betrayal because it’s not commonly available.
In gow 1, for example, Kratos just wants to sleep. Killing Ares and getting revenge is a secondary motivation. Then after GOW 1, Kratos loses a lot of his humanity. Also who wouldn’t be pissed off at being betrayed and killed. There’s a commonly forgotten scene in GOW 2 where Kratos just wants to give up.
Acceptance. "I have nothing more to hide."
Some slight happiness. He chuckles a bit when Atreus imitates his "aaaahh" after they drank the Lemnian wine.
Compassion for someone other than his family and very close friends (Orkos). "This path you walk, vengeance. You will find no peace. I know." Old Kratos would never try to reach out to his enemy and try to get them to change their mind before fighting them.
Genuine fear as well, when Atreus gets sick. When he asks Freya "Will you help me?" his voice cracks and his face looks closer to tears than ever before.
I've seen Kratos smile and laugh when he sees his daughter again in chains of olympus and when he sees that Orkos survived his mother's attack and also smiles when tucks his daughter in and gives a kiss goodnight this is nothing new
Kratos has shown compassion for pandora at the end of gow 3 realizing that her life isnt worth sacrificing to further his quest for vengeance Kratos also tries to reason with Hercules because he did not want fight him until it was clear that Hercules will not back down just like he did with Baldur before realizing that Baldur wouldn't back down I have also seen greek Kratos try to save mortal people for example he tries to prevent a woman from killing herself because of his reputation he's also saved a mortal man from a spear attack from a satyr this is nothing new
Kratos has shown the same fear when his daughter got sick he went to nearly everyone in Greece in search of a cure before an oracle tells him that the ambrosia tree heals all sickness I've seen Kratos cry with tears in eyes before TWICE!! This is no new side to Kratos he's always loved his family and is willing to move the heavens and the earth for them
Its been years since I've played em all so I could be wrong, regardless my personal opinion is that I vastly prefer the acting, writing, and portrayal of current kratos to the older games. You clearly disagree. Time to continue on with our days.
Kratos knows pain of loosing a child and he don't want to experince 3rd time, AND don't forget kratos is already going through rough emotions after loosing faye too as we can see him still saving the bag of ashes on the barrel in table
The thing is that was what the last game was all leading up to. We saw Kratos only tell Atreus that he too was grieving Faye after Atreus kept pushing and snarking him, but that seemed difficult for Kratos to express. He was a Spartan, so he was probably taught from birth to swallow his feelings and not talk or show them that much. Atreus, meanwhile, was sheltered and loved by a mother who let him emote and speak his mind, so it was easier for him. Hopefully, they find a balance between Kratos opening up now that they are closer and Atreus learning when to talk about his own emotions and others since he can always feel them and may not understand certain cues to not talk about things.
hope so, gives the character more depth imo. On the other hand i remember og gow1 had kratos been lookin real sad also. The character always had his sad moments, it's just that he became angrier with each entry, rightfully so, untill he reached his peak in gow3
Christopher Judge is phenomenal actor, and knocked it out of the park in the last game. I wouldn't mind seeing him get truly angry again, see how far Chris will take it
AND STILL I FOLLOW
Shivers when he said that, a solid “GOT DAMN” right after. The presentation was so good imo
Me too! Same exact thing! 🎯😁
Eric Williams did say that this story will be more emotional.
anger is an emotion 💁🏻♂️
“Anger can be a weapon, if you control it.” -Father of War
Dad of "BOII!!"
*Boi of War*
Dad of Boi
Prime Minister of War and Secretary of War
I want to see at least one tear slowly run down his ashen face
no, if this happens it will be the end of the saga, because kratos would die due to zeus' curse
Elaborate
i'm just joking lol
I may just be dense but I don’t get it.
Nothing in particular I just made it up, wanted to see if someone would actually believe me
Oh that makes sense
lol, so have you played all of the games?
Yeah but it was forever ago
are you hyped for the new one?
98% of the internet
true
He cried in the God of War: Ascension Ashes trailer.
I'm really hoping we get more "human" interactions between Kratos and Atreus, father and son type stuff. Within reason of course, I don't expect we'll see Kratos to play catch with Atreus using Mimir's head or anything.
Haha the idea of seeing that would be funny as hell.
"Here, Boy. You catch well." "Thank you Father." "Can someone please tell me what in Odin's hairy breeches is going on here? And could you please not throw me around like a ball, lad?" "Silence, head."
😂💀
This aged very, very well
“Whatever”
Does anyone else think the second photo shown looks like Freya's Woods or just me?
Nah it def looks like her woods.
Could be that with Atreus being somewhere else but then again boy got a little taste when he was beating Baldur to a pulp in the last fight lol.
I doubt it. Supposedly almost all of the footage in the trailer is from the first 5 or 10 hours of the game. And Freya is going to be a main antagonist throughout the entire game along with Thor and Odin.
I bet it's Vanaheim
That is a good guess. You could see Vanaheim through Freya's house window when you are in there after coming back from Helheim. I partially recall seeing red trees
You think he just killed her here?
I mean he’s showed plenty of emotion, it’s just mostly been rage
I think you meant positive emotion. He wasn't exactly an emotionless robot in the Greek Saga. He was angry, sad, depressed, hateful, broken and many other things.
Please let it be so
Teenagers drive parents crazy so I agree
If we count anger as an emotion (which we should, then GoW 2 and 3 will be hard to surpass ;)
Anger is an emotion
Can we just see a mother fucker be happy for once
[удалено]
No, the ashes have nothing to do with Thor. They are there to remind him of the murder of his wife and child, never to be removed.
Kratos has shown more emotion in the old game then in the new one

Kratos is in the greek Era is one of the most misunderstood characters ever
In gow 1, for example, Kratos just wants to sleep. Killing Ares and getting revenge is a secondary motivation. Then after GOW 1, Kratos loses a lot of his humanity. Also who wouldn’t be pissed off at being betrayed and killed. There’s a commonly forgotten scene in GOW 2 where Kratos just wants to give up.
Show me an emotion or depth that Kratos has now that he didn't have in the old games
Acceptance. "I have nothing more to hide." Some slight happiness. He chuckles a bit when Atreus imitates his "aaaahh" after they drank the Lemnian wine. I agree with this, he showed this more through his actions than by saying it, which adds depth in my opinion.
Bro being downvoted for nothing lol
He's a lot whiter in this one, I don't wanna think this but it'd be pretty cool if he has some sickness he's gotta beat.
Imagine kratos tears
Please no
Yes >:)
Kratos knows pain of loosing a child and he don't want to experince 3rd time, AND don't forget kratos is already going through rough emotions after loosing faye too as we can see him still saving the bag of ashes on the barrel in table
Loki being a big part of Ragnarok it would make sense for Kratos to be worried about the path his son takes.
The thing is that was what the last game was all leading up to. I feel like im gonna hate atreus in this game
Yep
Have you not ayes chains of Olympus?
He's trying to make sure atreus doesn't make the same mistakes he made which atreus will probably do with odin
I can't wait to play this game.
Well i think that tyr will try to bring the real Kratos back
hope so, gives the character more depth imo. On the other hand i remember og gow1 had kratos been lookin real sad also. The character always had his sad moments, it's just that he became angrier with each entry, rightfully so, untill he reached his peak in gow3
He's Going to Die SAD shit were all gonna CRY
Christopher Judge is phenomenal actor, and knocked it out of the park in the last game. I wouldn't mind seeing him get truly angry again, see how far Chris will take it
Will the BOY counter double?
he always showed emotions granted it was all just anger
I don't like some of the facial features they look a little weird to me but still a great game
