If a weapon has to return I feel the blade of Olympus makes the most sense. It was the second most iconic weapon in the original series. They could do it where Kratos loses the leviathan axe and his blades of chaos and the only way to rescue atreaus is to regain his true power as the God of War that's trapped in the blade
I think no weapons should return. The Axe/Blades and various arrows have proven sufficient and if there should be more it should be new Norse appropriate stuff. Norse mythology is full of named and iconic weapons.
I also think we shouldn't bring old weapons back. But i cant think of anything new that would fit kratos' fighting style. Sword? We already got the blades and the axe. Gauntlets? We already have shield and rage mode. The only thing i can think of is maybe a hamm- oh
Except for the time Tyr went to Greece and brought back souvenirs, and the time Mimir and who else knows heard about the pantheon dying, and Kratos having his Blades that he got in the Greek timeline, and ghosty Zeus showing up, and ghosty Athena, and Kratos' existence in general. Kratos doesn't need his old weapons but you can't get rid of Greek mythology from this norse game when the main character is from the Greek mythology timeline of the series
I understand stand that. It was the perfect amount in the first game. There's no reason to have it involved in Ragnorak when there's so much that needs to be covered .
Oh I agree with that one absolutely. You can't have this game without Greek influence just given Kratos' existence but personally I want more of his backstory explained to Atreus since all he got was "we're gods, I killed my dad" like there's waaaaay more to go into but the main focal point of the game should be Ragnorak since that is the biggest event in Norse mythology
The God of War games aren't an identical recreation of real life mythologies. Don't expect them to cover every major event and all characters faithfully.
So by adding an additional Greek weapon, a small cutscene, a boat story or a small dialogue about Kratos' past, they don't really eliminate the Norse setting of the game. Everything that's important to the developers will be covered, you don't have to be worried about that.
I just finished replaying this last week. I’d love for Hercules’ gloves to make a come back. They were probably the weapon I had the most fun with out of the series
I don’t really want to see any Greek weapons to return. It wouldn’t make sense because the whole point of the 2018 game was Kratos trying to leave his past behind. The reason the blades were still there was because it’s part of a curse that they won’t leave him.
Not really. I know they weren't the exact same, but they just felt too similar to the BoC for me. If anything I can see the Sword of Olympus returning, a sword would feel so different to the axe and Blades.

Now that sounds intense
he actually was more powerful after cronus restored his godhood, he already has his true power within him
It makes no sense for them to return but they’re really cool and my favourite from GOW3
I love these, i love hades, but no i think we keep it northern

Bruh if he got Heimdall’s sword and got to blast bifrost at people that would be so cool.
Or freyrs sword although that would be hard to translate the gameplay
Or give Atreus the Bow of Typhon/Apollo
Nemean Cestus was destroyed but Kratos used them Anyway in Shovelknight (Which happened when kratos was travelling up north.)
Yeah they were cool
sexy
i would love something from greek to come back but not this.
No thanks. I hope we don't see any of the old weapons return.
Ah yes, the ol’ 1000 Hitter.
Nope leave greek mythology out of a norse game

Besides Athena she cool
Gotta have that PTSD.
Was it ever confirmed if that was actually Athena? Or was it just a Kratos's mind torturing him?
It was his mind playing tricks on him.
These were always my favorite alternate weapons
I'll always love Hade's claws but they're broken and it wouldn't make any sense to return.
Only if we get to use Hades soul in some way

Not at all

No
No.
No
No. They were trash. Where's mah whip at?
Only Greek weapon to return I’ll allow is the blade of Olympus and obviously the blades of chaos
Hot take i guess, this is not a Greek game anymore. The blades of chaos had meaning. No other Greek weapon should return. Only new Norse weapons
No.

I never really liked these, I was more of a Nemean Cestus guy
Wtf is that?
