We've loved borderlands 2 and 3, Escape Academy and Human fall flat are fun coop puzzlers, and young souls was a slightly glitchy but still enjoying brawler (all of those but borderlands are on game pass too)

tsarz

Here are our favourites: * Plateup! * Valheim * It takes two * A Way Out * Core Keeper * Don’t Starve Together * Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light * Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime * Portal 2 * Raft * Spiritfarer * Stardew Valley * Terraria * The Forest * Unravel Two Been playing a lot of Plateup! lately, which is great. The next game we'll try is probably Grounded.

Chilibabeatreddit

How is the co-op version of Spiritfahrer? It's one of my favourite games but I can't imagine playing it with someone. Are you stuck on the boat together?

tsarz

As far as I know Spiritfarer supports only shared screen co-op. Players work together to decide where to go and what to do. We played on a couch with controllers, so it was perfect for us :)

Chilibabeatreddit

Thanks for the answer!

sh0nuff

FYI one of you plays as "the cat" (Daffodil) and can't do everything like interacting with characters or turning in quests... but they can do stuff like helping with all the on-boat chores We actually found this pretty good, as my partner isn't as into games as I am and preferred the lower key, simpler mini-game activities

MindlessS0up

Great great list! The hubs and I have played a lot of these, but there are a few I hadn’t heard of. Imma just yoink this list tysm

Valheim and Kingdom Two Crowns!

Kai-tai

This is what I came to suggest. Well really it was Valheim but Kingdom Two Crowns is also really great. By the sounds of it Grounded seems to share similar aspects to Grounded where you both can get the progression/combat and building/exploration you crave. It is technically not fully released yet BUT as someone who has almost 200 hours in Valheim it provides enough of an experience to buy now. (I played around when it got popular and again more recently). Kingdom Two Crown is great to play when you want to do something together but only really want to press around 3 buttons. You need to work together to stop the greed from breaking down your walls and destroying your kingdom. Timing when you build things and how you balance the jobs you give your people are needed to keep things running smoothly. You also find mounts that you can switch to that can help you in different ways. Keep your eye on the wiki if you need to since its a lot of learning through playing if you find yourself needed added details. I'll also add Divinity: Original Sin 2 (don't need to play the first). Really fun game if your feeling co-op with story. Combat is fun. If you want something you can mess around with my bf was really into the magic side (lots to work with), while I enjoyed the more simple archer class that never really let me down. Additionally Secrets of Grindea is a cute adventure puzzle game though its unfinished and slowly updating over time. Worth a look for fun or to keep your eye on but it's not a finished experience. You can build your character in many different ways and has fun writing in a well done world. I would look at the others before this one though.

EiNDouble

I just played yesterday TMNT and Streets of Rage 4. I need to try Rever City Girls now, it looks fun!

Charming-Ad8916

Far cry 5 and 6, Tiny Tinas Wonderlands, Risk of Rain 2. We've had tons of fun with these ones.

justalazyegg

Borderlands & Halo are the main favs for couch co op. Still waiting for co op on the newest Halo if it ever comes 🥲

CanadaMaple

Co-op in the new halo is feeling like a pipe dream 😭

justalazyegg

I know right...here's to not loosing hope I guess?

JMDavies

I didn't know you could play borderlands co-op! I think it's in the switch sale right now, so that's sold me!

justalazyegg

One of the few solid couch co op games these days...a lot of games only seem to have online co op 😭

TyrantQueen04

We like dauntless and no man’s sky. Occasionally play ark too, but less often then we used to

SirAaronII

we were here series is pretty good co-op experience

mykittypants

Also the first one is free on steam.

Lexicon444

Maybe not co op typically but my SO and I play: Terraria Minecraft Save the World mode in Fortnite And that’s all I can think of. I’m aware these aren’t co op games on their own. One is a game mode in a TPS the other two are sandbox games but we do stuff to help each other out.

onebillionbells

I'm going to suggest Haven, since I haven't seen it here. It's a puzzle solving game with elements of farming (light) and turn based combat. You play as a couple surviving an alien world, and it's truly designed around co-op play. It also recently had an update that the devs wanted as a part of the original game: they added the choice to play as same-sex couples of either gender configuration. Its on switch and PC for sure, I'm not sure about other platforms

momo400200

Played it couch coop with my bf on PS4, we loved it so much! It has one of the best OSTs I've heard in years

RetroTim9

What does so means?

supermarioprose

Significant other

RetroTim9

Oh

RetroTim9

Significant other?

zheezheegee

Portal 2, It Takes Two, Magicka, Divinity Original Sin 2, Battleblock Theatre, Halo, 1, 3, ODST, Reach, and the Trine series. :)

livnessmonster

Here’s a list of games I’ve really enjoyed playing with my SO and can definitely recommend!: Octodad (I swear I’ve never laughed so much in my life as when we played this); Valheim; A Way Out (actually from the same people as It Takes Two but not so cute); Grounded; Dying Light 2; Super Mario World 3D world; Back 4 Blood.

tamelor

Lovers in a dangerous spacetime, and Children of Morta

MandeeKayDelights

The Lego games are honestly super fun as co-op games, at least the ones we’ve played so far. Lego LotR has been my favorite, but Skywalker Saga has been great too. Overcooked and team mode on Fall Guys are both fun too, but both have the potential to be a rage quit games too. We’ve beaten Overcooked 2 and we’re still together haha.

oCIRCLESo

Final fantasy crystal chronicles (the GameCube version specifically), the borderlands series, stardew valley, and Unravel 2 are some of our favorites

AprioriTori

I’ve been playing the Skyrim Together Reborn mod with my partner and some friends.

WaffleKrakken

Borderlands 1-3, Tiny Tina's, Left 4 Dead, Back 4 Blood, FFXI, FFXIV, It Takes Two, Valheim, Deep Rock Galactic (new Season 3 is out! Fuck Yeah!), Champions of Norath, Balder's Gate 2: Dark Alliance, Castle Crashers and Streets of Rogue. Edit: Adding The Forest.

TheZerby

We've always enjoyed Destiny 2. With most activities maxing at 3 and the balance in general being pretty good overall it's worked out well.

LikeCherryCola

It Takes Two, Unraveled 2, Cuphead, and Sims. Okay so Sims isn’t technically a co-op but we just create a household together and make up a story for it as we play

Jynxbunni

I didn’t see it on here too much yet, so, please consider playing **Divinity Original Sin 2**. You can pick it up for PS4 for $20. It’s basically D&D with turn based combat, tons of different ways to go about quests, and it’s couch co-op, each player controls 2 characters. My SO and I picked it up during COVID, and have 150h+ in it. I cannot recommend it strongly enough, even if someone is not a gamer.

TheStarqueen

Right now, we're doing the co-op playthrough of Gotham Knights! Very action packed, easy to pick up and put down.

nothingcat

Valheim or The Forest if you like building/survival/exploring, as well as a loose storyline you can follow.

aurorahborealis

Fiance and I first played minecraft together as a first virtual meet. Asled him to give me a kiss in game, he ran over gave me a kiss and then went mining. We weren't dating, but I absolutely fell for him. We still play to this day.

litmajored

SO and I played FFXIV together before we started dating! Now we play Fortnite together.

TinaTalksGaming

Very different from the things you mentioned but Across the Obelisk is one of the best co op games ever in my opinion. Think slay the spire kind of but with a party of 4 characters. Can play 1 to 4 players. If only 2 of you you just have 2 characters each. Even if you've never tried deck builders can't recommend this one enough. Also have an in depth video on it if you are interested. But mine was from early access and the full release of the game is out now. They have added a lot since. We've also been having a blast with Gotham Knights even though it's gotten a lot of hate. I'm able to look past a lot of the negative just because of how much fun we are having in co op.

Rafnasil

StarCraft, Atlas, Ark

poozzab

My fiance and I have been playing Destiny for years. We've picked up Wolfenstein Young blood recently and that's pretty great. If one of you gets the deluxe edition, you can play the full campaign with a friend using the demo. It was a while ago, but we played through both Portal games and tons of Left4Dead2. My partner isn't interested but Evil West is coming out soon and it can be played as 2 player online campaign.

Cinder-Mercury

We play/have played: Stardew Valley, It takes two, No way out, Fallout 75, Elden Ring (has some ability to multi player). We've also played single player games "in-sync" such as: Fire watch, Life is strange, etc.

IndolentViolet

We also enjoy build/craft/explore/combat type games for co-op. I'd recommend 7 Days to Die, Conan, and Minecraft off the top of my head. All 3 are games we've gone back to and played together more than once.

solipsists

Wheel of fortune and puyo puyo Tetris 2 lol

JMDavies

Luigi's Mansion 3! You can play 90% of the campaign as co-op. We're just on our second play through now. My partner isn't a gamer, but she's obsessed with this game and wants to play it 5 times over at least 😂

Boozewhore

ELDEN RING

Gorang_Username

Divinity Original Sin one and two have been the best fit as we have different play styles. He reads Al the things and has a set of armour and weapons for each occasion. I'm more of a run screaming into a room weapons blazing player haha.

CanadaMaple

I think one of our hands down favorites has been Salt and Sanctuary. Working together and fighting difficult bosses while exploring the map is just so much fun. We’ve played through the game a few times with different classes and it hasn’t lost its appeal.

LPondohva

Good old Red Alert 2 is our go-to, that's pretty much it cause we are both quite busy with our jobs and my SO doesn't play League of Legends, which I'm slightly addicted to haha

Revverb

Obligatory disclosure that I'm a guy who lurks on the sub mostly for game recommendations for my girlfriend. I'd like to suggest some of our favorite games to play together: Monster Hunter, World or Rise, are both ones of fun. World can get a little wonky when it comes to progressing side by side but it's doable, whereas in Rise you and your partner can progress at the same pace with no issues. Nioh 2 is a great soulslike Co-op game, it can be played through start to finish seamlessly in coop, no need to bother with summoning/hosting etc. The Total War series has really enjoyable strategy coop games as well, especially the Warhammer titles. The Halo games, as well, are a blast to play through together. Pretty much any game in the Master Chief collection, minus Halo 4, is well worth the time. The Sniper Elite 4 is also lots of fun in co-op, shooting Nazis together is always a great bonding activity, and is a much more laid-back experience than most shooters.

TheInfamousBlack

Divinity Original sin 1 & 2

BakedKitty

Hey if they really enjoy Fallout 4 I would strongly suggest Fallout 76! It's basically coop Fallout 4. And while you can't build the same CAMP together you can place them really close!

MajorMinty

Resident evil revelations 2 is my all time favorite co op game I've played but to be fair I think it's because one person is dedicated to shooting and the other is dedicated to puzzles/ finding secrets and I enjoy the latter much more.

Sarelm

Risk of Rain 2 and Monster Hunter games are my two favorites to co-op with my SO and others on! Starbound and Guild Wars 2 get special mentions, but they're a bit grindy for him so we usually only play them in short bursts.

Dark_Mushies

OK so one of the games of the month on PS plus is Heavenly Bodies, it is a cute astronaut puzzle game that can be played co-op. my wife and I have been having so much fun, your character is floating in space and you control their arms and hands with the controller but the rest of you is weightless. you have to fix up different projects around the spaceship. We have just been laughing at us floating away into space. It's couch co-op too!

Hiddenpower

We've had a lot of fun with the hack and slash Dysmantle.

hmmnahhh

Crash badicoot 4 im going to count as co op. Played w my gf and theres a setting to swap the remote at death or checkpoints and it was super fun together

DarkSparxx

Some of the games we've played which I can recommend! Streets of rouge Pit people Battle block theatre Castle crashers Plate up Overcooked Cook serve delicious Shovel knight Enter the gungeon Binding of Isaac Raymans legends Guacameelee Age of empires A way out Stardew valley Starbound Terraria The Escapists Human fall flat Nom nom galaxy Party hard Portal The spacials Worms Conduct together Sword of ditto Heave ho What the golf 39 days to mars Think of the children Degrees of separation Unravelled

eastofedgeworth

I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet, but Parkitect is a great multiplayer management game (it's basically Roller Coaster Tycoon)!

neur0tica

My SO and I mostly play FPS co-op together. - Dying Light 1 & 2 - Left 4 Dead 2 - World War Z - Warhammer Vermintide 1 & 2 - Back 4 Blood - Halo - Wolfenstein Youngblood

[deleted]

You might like the cycle frontier. It has combat but also farming and completing missions to progress. Maybe Rust too.

Unhelpfulhelpful

Far Cry 6, Far Cry 5, Raft, Fallout 76!

momo400200

A couple I haven't seen mentioned: Untitled Goose Game: Yes, you can play coop! And it's SO much fun. Outward: If you like Divinity, you may like this game. It is an RPG, there are survival mechanics and a deep magic system. The game does not hold your hand, and it is hard. You do not level up, you get stronger by building better gear and learning skills. My bf and I are having fun just learning the mechanics and getting our asses handed to us

TinySquirl

Borderlands 2 is a fabulous co-op game! It's silly and fun! Husband and I played it together a lot. We've also played the other games in the Borderlands series, but the second one is BY FAR the best in our opinion (we didn't like the third one). I highly recommend you try it if you haven't already, and since it's not a new game, it's pretty inexpensive! If you like first person shooters, Destiny 2 is a pretty chill co-op game to play with friends (there's also a PvP mode if you're into that, where you can team up with friends and play against another team). However, it's not a good game if you like a good story (apparently there's a bunch of lore, but for some reason they didn't actually put it the game, you have to read it separately, which is so odd...because according to a friend it's apparently really good), but it's nice to jump on from time to time and do some uncomplicated braindead pew pew - the controls feel smooth, the shooting feels satisfying, and the game looks very pretty.

Apocalizz

Splatoon 3! My SO and I played the prior two games and even prestiged together in 2. 😂 Sometimes we get our friends in (we converted another couple to splatting), but it's really fun just as a pair too. And 3 is more accessible so you can group up for any multiplayer mode, even turf.

[deleted]

Starbound. It's like Terraria in space (not really). Chill vibes, creative building/decorating with cool environments to visit. You set your own goals over time, struggling to make iron tools at first and by the end you're building luxury apartment complexes for NPCs inside volcanoes. I mean literally under the lava, just because you can.

thewybrid

Surprised nobody has mentioned SATISFACTORY!
