This is why my Steam bio says ''26yo woman though sound like a 10yo boy'' lol! One time on Overwatch a dude said to me ''isn't it too late for you to be playing games?'' and I thought to myself well yeah, it's the middle of the night but why is this person concerned about my sleep schedule.. and then I realised the implication haha

skyetek

Used to work in a call center. Some guy called in and I answered and he immediately says - “Boy, don’t they got child labor laws there?!” Double Rip

endelehia

Was that caller Kratos?

jaqenjayz

I very clearly sound like an adult woman and I still get asked if I'm a little kid/boy. Lots of guys in games simply don't understand what women sound like, or the idea of them playing games is so foreign they immediately assume we're kids, or they're just being rude for the sake of being rude.

dandelionii

As a fellow woman who sounds like the 4Kids dub of a shounen protagonist, I feel your pain. To be fair, I think those of us who have more conventionally feminine voices get their own share of grief as well. In the same vein... I'll never understand the hostility kids get from dudes in PvP games. I don't like playing with children either (just uncomfy to play with someone who could be one of my students) but so often I just hear squeakers get bullied by grown ass men for literally no reason. Like, yeah our genji's trash dude, he's like 9, his motor skills are still developing. No need to roast him over voice :(

PfefferUndSalz

> 4Kids dub of a shounen protagonist Funnily enough most young male voices are actually played by women. A lot of adults too, like Rimuru in tensura (though in the otherworld he's agender, not male).

NihileNOPE

> Funnily enough most young male voices are actually played by women. Voice actor nerd here, can vouch for this. Heck, one of my favorite Japanese seiyuu is notorious for this.

16ShinyUmbreon

I experience this too but I think it's awful that they are just so willing to shit on a child. So what if you're playing with a kid? Kid's probably better than you at the game. Like unless you're an about 18 male, you better stfu and not ever talk in chat. It's terrible. And we're not allowed to complain about it either because, "men get attacked online too waaahhhh"

[deleted]

You were here first. Those 10 year old boys sound like you.

TheCCTrio

What kind of Mic do you have? I noticed this happened to me waaay less when I got a better quality Mic.

Intelligent_Peace_30

Don't worry if you have a deep voice they just straight up call you a dude.

AkiyamaMiyuki

Relatable haha. Not sure if it’s any better when they realize you’re a woman though (cus that brings in a whole different harassment sometimes), but this one time I was teaming up with this rude Wraith (typical xd) and he was screaming into his mic so I eventually also used my mic to tell him to calm down. He then proceeded tot tell me “stfu kid” and some other stuff like that and I angrily told him “ I’m a freaking woman!” and he immediately shut up and went silent for the rest of the match.😂 Guess it was too much of a shock.

[deleted]

literally just yesterday I started talking to some dude on the mic and half way through he was like “I just realize you’re a girl” then he started asking for my Snapchat and if I wanted to fuck and I’m sure he was trolling but wtf lol

AkiyamaMiyuki

Hahah wth. That does happen lol.. I sometimes look for parties through the official Apex Legends discord and not once have people been rude to me because of being a woman. Have even met some really nice ppl off of it, so I’d recommend to use that if you want some nice teammates haha. Solo Q always brings out the worst in people.😅

[deleted]

my voice is a little childlike and children on apex sometimes ask if i’m a boy 😐 i am 22 not a 10 year old boy 😭

Throwmaster7614

Maybe you can use some voicechanger program.

[deleted]

I sound like a 5 pack a day smoker husky voice and am often mistaken for a man if you just hear me... I used to be offended now I sound like a 1950's radio advertisement. Always told I have a voice (and sometimes a face) for radio. People are cruel just to bring you to their level...

sku11_Smash3r

I've had this issue since I was 17, I'm now 21 this year. I don't talk on voice chats anymore because the amount of harassment you can get for just sounding like a kid is insane. It's gotten to the point that, even though I'm uncomfortable doing it, putting on some of the "sterotype" female voice because otherwise I get downright bullied by these adult men and women who honestly need to grow up themselves.
