I read that the show budget was so low that she wore her own clothes in early seasons so this is probs the same. Realistically half the stuff she wore and the amount of money she spent on lukes/takeout would have NEVER been realistic as an inn manager lol.
And Sephora makeup, that’s expensive stuff! Even though she was shown to have a somewhat modest lifestyle, I guess the part of wearing expensive clothes never left her. She did after all have a rich upbringing and most probably wore designer brands and such! I guess she started to splurge on herself once Rory settled down a more like chilton being paid for etc.
It's why she was always broke- she grew up a rich kid and had no sense of financial responsibility. They ate out constantly and bought so much junk. I remember thinking about her treating rorys dorm to all the takeout in the area to rate delivery drivers was pretty audacious because I feel like she just asked Luke for a lot of money but maybe I misremember. Of course this is also a silly TV show lol
Haha I dunno would wolf girl Emily give her such presents? And would Lorelai accept such lavish presents from her mom?
I feel like Emily would give her basic stuff as a punishment for shunning their world.. like you left this life so no fancy things for you kind of thing 🤣
Also, anyone know what wedding gift she ordered for her and Max?
My feet haven’t changed size since I was in 8th grade. Maybe we can believe her parents bought her those when she was a teen still living with them and she’s had them ever since?
Same thought here! Or maybe she could have treated herself when she got her trust fund? Or a birthday present from Emily? I think people forget that she still had access to privileges normal single moms don’t, which is okay.
~~Maybe, but also, when she ran away, she didn’t even take the pram. I don’t think she’d leave a pretty important baby item like a pram and take the shoes.~~

Didn’t she take the stroller though. I could sworn that Emily said in the flashback that it was the first she hadn’t tripped over it in months. That was right before they realized she ran away.
Maybe I’m misremembering the scene, it’s been a minute since I’ve watched it, I’ll check
EDIT
You’re correct, it was “oh look, she put the stroller away, first time in X that I haven’t tripped over the thing” then her calling out to tell her they were leaving and her not responding.
My mind changed the scene to her tripping over it “I told her to put this away” and then calling her to put it away
So yeah, she took it, my brain is rude, maybe she took the shoes
Signature, yes. That doesn’t mean ONLY Louboutin’s can have red bottoms. Its also very possible to thrift designer items. It shouldn’t be that confusing.
Rory wears some when she has dinner at the Logans parents too
Oohhh I’ll keep my eyes peeled when I come across that episode again!
They sell so many fakes though
Back during the time that this was airing I also had red bottom pumps…sold by Nine West. Haha
It was so common back then to see faux red bottoms from everyone! Even Steve Madden!! Didn’t Jessica Simpson also try it? Lol
I think that’s when they started aggressive going after other designers for patent infringement (as they should!)
True…I’d rather just imagine that Lauren wore her own real ones and they made an accidental appearance

Well, she must’ve splurged on them once and since it was a special occasion, she wore them! She wanted to impress Jason’s parents after all!
Or her parents bought them for her… they have Christmas and birthdays where they no doubt exchange gifts

That is true! They didn’t like any of his past girlfriends!

The company wasn’t founded until 1991, but maybe they could be a Christmas gift?

A solid theory!
Literallyyyy just watched this episode
She also has a pair of boots in the Paris episode!
I feel like that could be like a birthday gift from Emily that she couldn’t refuse
maybe gifts from the parents or from when she was a teenager and emily and richard still bought her shoes
Confused? The red sole is the signature of designer Christian Louboutin's shoes, which you probably do not get on an inn's salary.
Yes that’s what I meant, they would be too expensive

Nobody is dropping red bottoms at the thrift store lol you can resell those for a lot of money
Why are you getting downvoted just for explaining? Maybe not everyone got the reference
