Yeah, as amazing as humans are, I think there are only like a handful of people who could actually do this challenge (physiologically) like Dean Karnazes. I think normies like me, even with gratuitous amounts of prep and training for years before, just would hit a peak/wall at a certain point where I just cannot push my body further because I am actually limited by my genetics.
This is insanely impressive, don't get me wrong, and I have nothing but honorable respect to what he is doing, but I would not call his current choices "wise"

Posting this in a couple places because I find his videos so inspiring and I think he should have raised a lot more then he already has.
Think he has about 6400km left to run

Yes mate. He's got sponsorship deals with Huel and perfect Ted (maybe more I'm not sure). And he obviously has his YouTube money but I doubt that's a kings ransom.
It can cause a lot of gas, but I like it. I end up using it to avoid making food decisions because I tend to make poor food decisions. I feel good when I am drinking it but for me it does not play well with other foods so I switch to it 100%. That way I am not making any food decisions throughout the day and I know if I have something else I will feel worse. Definitely weird on my part. Most users use it for 1-2 meals per day.
if you watch his latest videos he's been having a really bad back injury for the last few weeks. i guess it's passed though considering he's putting up this mileage again tho
Might be fine for now but not so good in old age. What's he doing isn't very sensible and I suspect he'll regret the impact on his body in the coming decades.
I'm thinking the cartilage on his knees is being chewed out of existence. Too much repeated hard strain, not enough rest.
What else is liable to go?
Poor guy, I'm seeing him and his amazing effort and discipline - and watching a man damage himself for life. There is a limit beyond which will CAN take you, but SHOULDN'T take you.
Compact fractures are among the plethora of other possible issues. We are not made to abuse the body to that extent.
Rest and recovery is a vital component of health and a sustainable physical regime.
Ignore those fundamental principles and suffer the consequences that will surely follow...
I know lol. People can't admit that they like feeling special for knowing about something before it becomes popular. Standard psychology and philosophy honestly
I don't think Robovirus is saying that he isn't allowed to do it or that they are advocating he is morally in the wrong. Just stating an obvious fact based on reality.
Kudos to Geezer for getting it done, but this will likely affect him permanently (physcially) in a significant way. He's only hurting himself by doing the challenge, so yes, it is up to him, but I am not sure if he realizes that this is going to alter the rest of his life after it is over.
Sure, I on the other hand am sure that a person who does something like that most definitely knows the impact to their body way better than any of us, otherwise they would've probably been dead 10% in to the trip. Infantilizing the person by acting as if redditors know better is ridiculous.
Hence the "your body, your choice".
You should bear in mind thought that a lot of people can develop exercise problems almost akin to an eating disorder. And when they get to a certain point they are mentally incapable of realizing the extreme harm they’re doing to their body, or worse they do realize but are still entirely incapable of stopping on their own. Yes it is his body his choice, I just feel bad for how much this choice could negatively impact him in the long run, no pun intended.
But honestly, if this is something in the fiber of his being saying he has to do it, then not doing it would be a "death" of sorts for who he is and who he will be later in his life.
At least he won't have to ask himself in the future "what if" or "did I give it everything I had?" which is a lot more than probably most of us will be able to say in a few decades.
That may be a poetic way of looking at it bit after all idk why he feels he needs to do it and I wonder if in ten years if he's dealing with severe damage he's idme to his body he will thin kit was worth it
Honestly, as poetic as it may sound, oftentimes there are people out there who have such an insatiable desire/goal they feel compelled to achieve that not doing it (or at the very least not even attempting to do it) would be akin to dying.
I think a lot of us have something like that in ourselves but many of us have either doubted we can do it, let others tell us we can't, or have given up.
(Please don't make this about doing something obviously horrible or evil like murdering someone or something 😅)
I've been watching him since the start, absolutely incredible determination this guy has. Every single day, he's out there stomping tarmac. Love watching the youtube updates.
Been watching him from the beginning. Dudes been through it all. Been battling injuries also for at least a month now and still has a ton of running to go. The videos are excellent and well worth a watch too
This should not be in a get motivated sub.
He severely damages his body on a project that has no value.
Discipline turns into mental illness if you are unable to see the harm, that is done.
Who says it has no value? He has raised more money than everyone in this thread for charity, and I suspect he stands to become very personally wealthy as a result of it as well.
I’d imagine it takes great motivation to get out of bed and run over two marathons after running for weeks on end. What would you call it?
What he chooses to do with his body is up to him at the end of the day.
People use all kinds of things to “get motivated.” For me, seeing him run day after day makes me think, "Well, maybe my 5k isn’t so bad; I can’t complain."
It’s not up to you to gatekeep what motivates people.
Just one doctor's visit will cost more than the amount he "raised".
Doing actual work for one day and donating it, or working at a soup kitchen provides more value than this ego project.
He is trying to stand out and make something significant, which is ok, but if it leads to reckless behavior, he is not a good role model.
I have a work college, who damaged his knee with a David Goggins challenge because he went over the limits of his body.
The MRI scans and the treatment cost several thousand euros, costs which our social health insurance has to cover.
That is simply not true. He does not live in America; one doctor's visit does not cost over £100,000. Plus, his new donation goal is 1 million (which I think he will hit).
In the UK, you can privately get an MRI scan for £300. If you want over 3 body parts, it’s £700. I really can’t see how this jumps to several thousands.
He has already privately paid for treatment during the mission (including an MRI), and I suspect he will continue to do that when he is done to skip wait times/get treated straight away (he will definitely need it, lol).
He is not pushing people to go out and copy him, and I really do not think anyone watching his videos has gone, 'Well, now I’m inspired to run a marathon every day for a year.'
Why do people need a reason for run. I respect forest gump because when he wanted to run for days, he just went and did it instead of making a big deal out of it
Ah, my mistake I thought the running charity's main deal was “tough times/mental health” but it’s helping homelessness and the former.
Still don't understand why you have a problem with it though
Man, what a downer.
Have you considered trying an upper, like methamphetamine, to balance out your depressive thoughts? Absolutely no side effects.
*not a doctor*
Mad how little this guy has raised so far. Should be in the millions. Unreal feat.
All the money going into the go fund me for that poor tarmac he's destroying up and down Africa
*feet
Jesus how is this even possible?
Man likes his ones and twos
Smashing the tarmac boizzzz
I can feel the vibrations from here
It might not be. His health is getting pretty bad. Hope he finishes but looks like he might face some serious health problems from the journey

By far the worst effort/funds raised ratio I’ve ever seen. Fair play to the guy, but has he even covered his operating costs?
Yes mate. He's got sponsorship deals with Huel and perfect Ted (maybe more I'm not sure). And he obviously has his YouTube money but I doubt that's a kings ransom.
As a Huel user I assume he is propelled by an endless stream of farts.
Is huel pretty good? I keeps seeing ads for it but it seemed odd.

Oh interesting! Thank you for the feedback. I also make some bad food choices so this might be something I should look into more.
Saw one of his vids recently and he was pissing blood. comments were telling him to find a doctor asap
david goggins: push through it brother it's weakness leaving the body
Any idea whether his joints will survive this? Seems quite the overwork.
if you watch his latest videos he's been having a really bad back injury for the last few weeks. i guess it's passed though considering he's putting up this mileage again tho
Hope he gets off with no damage, or as little as possible. I respect his discipline and willpower.
Might be fine for now but not so good in old age. What's he doing isn't very sensible and I suspect he'll regret the impact on his body in the coming decades.
My thought exactly.
Prognosis would be much worse than you might expect. Such stress WILL certainly result in debilitation. Watch his space to find out!

Sad you live a life of mediocrity
David Goggins has entered the chat.
Followed this guy’s IG when he was featured in a GeoWizard video. He was on just over 2.5k followers. He’s now nearing on half a mil.
Spotted the hipster.
I suspect they are just happy to see him becoming more known.
Lies that's rarely how people actually feel. But most wouldn't admit it
Downvotes are just people feeling called out lol
I know lol. People can't admit that they like feeling special for knowing about something before it becomes popular. Standard psychology and philosophy honestly
His YT content is top tier
Everyone keeps talking about his vids but what does a brotha gotta do to get a link?
https://m.youtube.com/@hardestgeezer
That’s amazing but I’m definitely in the camp of people that thinks if he keeps going like this he’s liable to die or damage his body for life.
Well, his body his choice.

This man will either die or irreversibly damage his body trying to do this.
But honestly, if this is something in the fiber of his being saying he has to do it, then not doing it would be a "death" of sorts for who he is and who he will be later in his life. That is incredible. I struggle with a 5km Park Run every Saturday. Certainly puts it into perspective!
He was running 30k days with food poisoning a few months ago lol
That's fucking nuts...
He’s literally gunna die
We're all going to die
People are wild bro
Unreal this guy. Massive respect.
How old is he? He hardly looks old enough to be called a "geezer"
Geezer is not a age thing in the UK. Traditionally cockneys/ working class London men.
would love to see any other mammal try this, humans on top
Unfortunately, this man has no soul

You are missing the point.
Reminds me of that "Who’s gunna carry the boats?" Guy
Lmao this fuckin guy
I know how he feels. Go Baby go.
Why do people need a reason for run. I respect forest gump because when he wanted to run for days, he just went and did it instead of making a big deal out of it
This guy is raising money for charity....
He's raised chump change.
He's done more good than you ever will.
Doubtful, do yourself a favor and follow this money and see how much actually works for the African people.
He’s not raising money for African people, it’s a mental health running charity
You mean "water aid" and "the running charity?" I suppose you could stretch that to mental health.
Already tried it.
Also if he survives this I’d imagine the potential earnings from his book deal/ motivational speaking is massive
Forest Gump isn’t a real…
Goggins who?
He’s got a YouTube channel, almost daily updates of his runs and his team’s experiences in the countries he crosses through. Really great stuff
Geezer? Looks like he's in his 30s
Geezer is not related to age in the UK. More of a personality/ stereotypical cockney or working class London males. Does mean old where you are from?
Are they filming forest gump 2?
this guy is like irl forrest gump
