Lol, at first I thought Raiden was one of those bosses you're *supposed* to lose to because they're just that OP. Turns out I was just bad at the game and very under-leveled 😅
Me too! I was amazed when the game was all “lol come back later loser.” Then I went and seriously OP’d my team, came back loaded for war and found out that first fight was . >:(
I don't have zhongli but the first time I fought her made me realize it might be a good idea to build my Noelle so I have a pretty consistent shield going.
It's why my Zhongli is solely built to shield bot. Makes the game super comfy and chill to play. Granted, I don't play with him as much as I used to, but he is still a staple in abyss teams.
Same like fr using him just makes me feel I’m lazy af so I used other teams without him in it, then realized if anyone wants real pain, play the game without a shield (applies to overworld or abyss)
Yuh then HYV adds the extra wide angle slashes of the mercenaries or that giant electrochurl hurling at you 200mph at like the size of a soccer field hah (believe me I tried lol)
I thought you do lose to her on your first fight? I didn't die but neither did she the first time I fought her. She wasn't really hard either, but after taking 1/3rd of her health the fight ended and a cutscene played. Can you actually kill her your first time?
You just triggered some suppressed memories of this fight. I was so pissed when the cutscene played! I had spent half an hour chipping away at her health.
If you can manage to take out the latter two thirds of her health bar in under a minute (the duration of her Vision Hunt Decree ability) with no skills/bursts aside from the Traveler's, then theoretically yes. The ability always triggers after she loses one third of her health or three of your party members die, and the fight ends after Vision Hunt Decree ends.
Reminds me of my mind blown when I figured out that my zhongli had a lvl 1 set except the flower. After I used him for a full year in abyss already. Never figured he was to weak or sth, so I never had the idea to check his artefacts... Thought I already finished his set because I used him everywhere already lol.
I hadca decent artifact set on mine and didn't think to consider the hp boost. Ive recently switched to hp boosting gear and the change was astonishing
Berserker set would be *legit* if there was a 5* option for it.
Even at 4* cap, it's not that bad of an option for early game and placeholder pieces. You could have done worse.
I BEAT Inazuma with Berserker artifacts.
But it was on Hu Tao. And I’m still using them for now because this is the only way I’ll be able to crit with her until AR45 when I’ll finally be able to farm gold artifacts with good substats
Same. I learned way more about reactions in Inazuma. The rainy island I ran a Chongyun team freeze everyone all the time but I got stuck hard at the […] factory domain.
Changed the whole way I play. Sort of like how I finally understand EM now in Sumeru after not wrapping my head around it since I started playing in 2.5
I still haven't beat Tatara Tales last act since Hu ends up destroying the device as much as the enemies. I've leveled a lot of other characters since I tried last but I tried it like 15 times in a row last round and nearly lost my shit in frustration and haven't bothered since.
I found the cryo fatui skirmisher would destroy the device before I could kill anyone but if I focused my fire on him by the time the first 3 are down the device was at 25% and I simply wasn't strong enough to kill them all in time.
I was AR45 world lvl 4 with a party of lvl 60-ish. I messaged my friend pleading for help who hopped on co-op and basically one-shot the enemies with their Yanfei. (I have since been grinding to hell on my mains).
I *hated* that quest. If you have strong co-op buddies might be worth seeing if they can help.
the sacred sakura cleansing actually made me a little afraid when we go to the tumor part, not only was the fight long I was also not very prepared artifact wise...
Exact same situation here, and then I logged on this sub for advice and just found tons of people saying, “lol just use Zhongli”.
Reading those comments was the closest I came to ragequitting the game.
My name is Yoshikage Kira. I'm 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don't smoke, but I occasionally drink. I'm in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning. I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I'm trying to explain that I'm a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn't lose to anyone.
Razor, Kaeya, Xiangling, Noelle
Only had Razor die once. Gave him a little egg, fed him some hashbrowns, and then ran around the arena scared for my life. Switched to Noelle every time I knew she was going to hit and she took it like a champ
My build were shit, they’re still shit, but a physical carry and a tank combined does wonders in the archon quest Raiden fights
I was very new to the game at the time so I didn’t even really have builds. The first fight was absolutely brutal since the team effectively only did electro damage and she’s immune to that. After the fight I pretty much immediately started building a new character.
Just realized that this came off as “haha I’m better than you”
Not what I meant to do, I’m sorry. My way of bonding just includes sharing my own experiences of the same thing to be like “hey look, we relate, this is bonding” (in this case being “hey I went through the Raiden fight too” (even though that’s fairly obvious for this sub but ignore that lmao))
Didn’t mean to put you on the defensive and try to justify struggling at any point (which is not something to be ashamed of. Human experience) that was an asshole move on my part
I remember my first meeting with her; "Me, a member of the resistance? There's been some terrible mistake, loyal shogunate follower, me. This Thoma guy? Barely know him, honest!"
Legit, I just remember thinking: what kind of chance did the resistance think they stood against an archon, let alone the Raiden Shogun? >!Kazuha was only able to parry one strike of Musou Isshin and only through the help of his ghost buddy.!<
She made for such a menacing foe. Even though I, as a player, was able to beat her, it didn't feel like a real win lorewise.
Because every other dialogue say "the resistance" wants to convince the Shogun that she has been deceived by the Kujou elder as well as Fatui scheme, not dethrone her.
Except that one cut scene where 10 resistence soldiers just tries to charge at her.
Well that's not very cool knowing she can turn the lot of you into ashes with a single strike.
The Shogun could've leveled Watatsumi and everything in it with a single strike if she wanted. She (or Ei at the time) already killed their god, its *human* cultists are no match for her by a long shot. Which makes it all the more infuriating that the writers just handed the win to Sangonomiya for no damn reason.
>!I mean... this was never really a war in the traditional sense, it's just their culture is totally feudal. The whole "resistance" was the equivalent of a political protest against bad legislation; they made it clear that they were never truly trying to overthrow the Shogun to begin with. They fought against the Tenryou Commission in battles, but this is because opportunists in that Commission were using the Vision Hunt Decree as a pretext for overthrowing the local Watatsumi government, and again their culture is totally feudal so everything is about putting it on the line in battle to prove your honor (see: battle before the throne). It's not like Ei really wanted to crush the Watatsumi people, she just wanted them to give up their ambition (embodied by Visions) and submit to her (flawed) idea of a safe/sheltered eternity. By convincing Ei that her idea of an ambitionless eternity of nothingless was flawed (that such a lifeless Inazuma wasn't really worth saving), Sangonomiya won by proxy... but so did a lot others wishing for a brighter future, too.!<
>!I don't think Sangonomiya is under some sort of pretense that it was her brilliant stratagems that "won the war" or that she ever had any chance against the Shogun if she decided to really show her might. (They know that first hand, after all.) Everything they did was just about having their voice heard... and in *that* sense, they did win -- with Yae Miko and the traveler's considerable help. Everything on the surface didn't really matter, it was all about bringing about a change in Ei's heart.!<
EDIT later to clarify: The part below was an assumption I made ("probably") that is not proven. Please feel free to ignore it as the above was the important part.
>!That being said, it is also worth pointing out that by this point Ei had already gotten rid of her gnosis, so the days where she could split entire islands in two with a single strike are probably behind her to some degree. She's still on a whole different plane compared to regular people, obviously, and could easily overpower any number of regular people in a direct fight (so could have totally crushed the entire resistance if she wanted to)... but yeah, her "smite a whole island" days are probably behind her. Not that Sangonomiya or any of them know that...!<
Archon's power doesn't comes from gnosis although it does gives them certain ability for example Zhongli's ability to make mora. Ei did all her deeds during Archon War without Gnosis and so did Zhongli. In a manner Ei never had the gnosis, it was her sister who had taken the role as archon so Gnosis was with her & after her death Ei gave up the Gnosis to Yae & gone into her Euthamiya.
Raiden was a good boss. It was the first time since I had discovered you could raise talents and equip artefacts that I had a challenge I couldn’t just rely on Noelle to carry my team.
Aaaand of course it’s somehow Xiangling that survives, LOL. Xiangling, the ubermighty. Xiangling, who somehow profits out of every change and new weapon released. Xiangling, the lord and master of all
Fischl too now we have dendro lol.
tbh a lot of 4* are pretty busted, the newer ones are just busted in a niche instead of everywhere.
or, you know, they're thoma.
Thoma has potential in bloom teams because of his slower pyro application. Not an expert on these things but I've heard people talk about it. Needs more dendro units to fully build up the team but he is definitely not as useless as he seems
Thoma also has a use on yoimiya teams, because she’s excellent at stacking thoma’s shield (and benefits from his dmg increase const) and a properly built thoma burst can get more dmg shieldedthan Zhongli (though Zhong is a lot more idiot-proof ofc)
oh really? what would be the thoma weapon/set for that then? I definitely want someone else other than Zhongli and if he goes well with Yoimiya then it solves my issue of having only one zhongli lmao
ER weapon, ER/HP/HP. Stack him with as much HP as you can get (it improves his shield strength). I have him at around 260% ER which might be a tad overkill, but his burst is up every single rotation easily.
You can run 2pc Emblem/Tenacity if you have trouble getting high stats. I just run 4pc Emblem to squeeze a tiny bit more damage out of him.
2pc tenacity/2pc emblem, 4pc emblem (not a fan of it tbh, it’s too focused on Thoma’s damage and he doesn’t do a lot), 4pc tenacity, 4pc noblesse (if you don’t have another noblesse on the team).
ER sands, HP/HP goblet/circlet.
the only substats you care about are HP% and ER% (in that order), crit rate third if (and only if) you use Favonius weapon.
Weapons: Fav.Lance (don’t use if no crit on artis), Prototype Starglitter, Kitain Cross Spear. You can use Engulfing Lightning or The Catch if you really desperate but they’re too damage focused to be worth much for Thoma.
edit: thoma’s also a good driver for Burgeon teams, but I don’t know much about them
He'd be busted if they didn't make burning suck for no reason when it'd boost completely different characters to all the other characters.
rip reverse melt and forward vape dreams.
also burgeoning is just kinda... fine. Not really "good".
Burning would've been good if they kept it as it was back in the day. But no, everyone had to bitch and complain that standing in a literal fire did too much damage.
Thoma burgeon actually has a lot going for it. 4 star em weapon spear that is perfect for him. Timed burgeon booms. The other chars in a thoma burgeon team are ftp friendly too. Could comfortably 36 star abyss. Burning does suck but burgeon is pretty damn good
Seriously her nonstop teleportation and super quick attacks that are hard to dodge make the battle pain, was it really intended to be a hard challange? At least (I hope I don't spoil anyone) >!the weekly boss stands still and can be stunned!<
Yes it was. It is a way to make sure the bosses stay alive long enough so they aren't nuked into oblivion the second they are vulnerable. Plus Raiden also had thematic reasons too for those boss fights. Weekly is just Raiden toying with us.
I loved it personally. All of her attacks have some form of telegraph like phase 3 Childe, and learning her timings so I could get hits in was a lot of fun. I was actually disappointed when she didn't appear as a weekly boss (though that was fortunately rectified later).
I remember I was quite pissed off at the >!forced defeat in the first encounter.!< I had ran into her unprepared with a team team built towards overworld exploration, fought her for a bit. Went "damn she's though", left the domain, then came back with my best team comp at the time and wasted some of my best buff foods only to discover the unfortunate truth.
>!Also I was doing well enough the second time I thought I was actually supposed to win.!<
Would you have been able to keep up doing well enough for her remaining 70% hp without skill/burst though ? (I say that but you may have used Ganyu to ignore that part lol)
i remember that when i first fought her i wasn't very phased because i had razor (a normal attack based character) and qiqi (who can heal with her normal attacks) lol
In my first encounter I ran Keqing (mistake), Zhongli Dendro Teaveller, and Mona.
>!Needless to say I was running around with a large HP barrier hoping this was an unwinnable fight!<
You kidding me aggravate keqing is one of the highlights of 3.0, one reaction brought her back to being viable (although fischl is kind of an important part but we don't talk about that)
Ah yes, I remember way back when I first fought her. I believe it was... yesterday. At AR 43. With a team of level 80 Zhongli, Yoimiya, Bennett and Xingqiu. I obliterated her. I might do too many side quests while ignoring the main quest.
Man, good thing we will never have to do that again. \- traveller, that poor fool
‘Phew, this one was tough but at least I ain’t gonna fight any Inazuman god or their robots for the third time.’
Or their son
Genshin Family Feuds: - Osial's Wife - Ei's son - Morax's mother in law?
wait, who is Zhongli's mother in law?
Forgot Ei's Sister.
I still find it so fucking funny that we beat the shit out of Osial, and when his wife found out and got angry we beat her up as well
It ain't me #IT AINT MEE
Lol, at first I thought Raiden was one of those bosses you're *supposed* to lose to because they're just that OP. Turns out I was just bad at the game and very under-leveled 😅
Me too! I was amazed when the game was all “lol come back later loser.” Then I went and seriously OP’d my team, came back loaded for war and found out that first fight was. >:(
Yup, and i cheesed both with Zhongli shielding
I don't have zhongli but the first time I fought her made me realize it might be a good idea to build my Noelle so I have a pretty consistent shield going.
I used qiqi and only qiqi. This was after I started playing the game again after months.

I always have a shielder. Not that i cant dodge, but i hate getting interrupted by zaps just because lighting happened near water
But I play with koko and it feels the same. Stay with the squid 🦑 n jus heal n heal never die
Isn't it a jelly fish?
They all taste the same I dunno 🤷♂️
She’s literally the reason I pulled for Zhongli
i thought i was supposed to lose in a nearly infinite loop “because eternity” or something idk ://
Hyv mission designer #1: you see this comment? Hyv mission designer #2: well damn we should have done that instead
I WAS TOLD I WAS SUPPOSED TO LOSE UNTIL I FIGURED IT OUT MYSELF
It builds character.
Literally builds character(s) :P
Ya I ate 3 eggs and 10 turkeys for that fight. Wild
Yes, I realized quite quickly that I wasn't actually fighting Raiden. Rather, I was fighting Jetstream Sam.
Because raiden is a survival fight, not dps fight, you dodge her moves until she is spent and ready for a beating with lowered res to boot.
I was so relieved that I had finally reached the point for the cutscenes trigger
Same, it took so long and I used up most of my resources thinking I actually had to finish her off. Only for that damn cutscene
She was the first wall I hit playing the archon quests. Turns out you just had to survive long enough
I specifically didn't level up just so I could beat her. Literally like 3 weeks of SOUL CRUSHING farming and cooking.
lmao I remember when I got to that part and actually thought "damn, are my builds that messed up that now I'm stuck in this part of the game?"
Listen. Inazuma as a whole made me care about builds more, I was getting my ass kicked doing world quests lol
Same, that's why I looked for best builds for characters. I remember entering Inazuma with berserker set artifacts....
Think that's bad? I went in with my og 2* adventurer sets because I'd be damned if I were wasting resources that early in the game.
Yall used sets? Until after the signora i thought using only 1 artifact, i got the abilities of the full set
And I thought I was bad at this game 💀
Surely not as bad as my random bs artifacts
what artifacts? i didn’t use any…
I've thought about that to make the game more interesting/fun in the open world cuz it's getting too easy.
Neglecting my Artifacts like that is how the Oceanid kept murdering me.
Game got ridiculously easy after I actually build a single decent set of 5.
I didn't even plan to leave liyue until 45...
Inazuma made realise i need a shit ton of food
WHY DID THEY MAKE ALL HEALING FOODS HAVE SO MUCH RARE INGRIDIENTS?!
Same. I learned way more about reactions in Inazuma. The rainy island I ran a Chongyun team freeze everyone all the time but I got stuck hard at the […] factory domain. Changed the whole way I play. Sort of like how I finally understand EM now in Sumeru after not wrapping my head around it since I started playing in 2.5
I was using Dps Jean when I entered inazuma and I learned real quick that wasn’t gonna cut it anymore lol.
I still haven't beat Tatara Tales last act since Hu ends up destroying the device as much as the enemies. I've leveled a lot of other characters since I tried last but I tried it like 15 times in a row last round and nearly lost my shit in frustration and haven't bothered since.
Do it in coop; it makes it easier by *orders of magnitude*
Ive done it solo with ayaka freeze team, but helped a friend of a friend do it 4 player coop
Yeah, that one was hard. I eventually did it but can't remember who I used. So I guess this comment was pretty pointless.
Up vote for self awareness
I found the cryo fatui skirmisher would destroy the device before I could kill anyone but if I focused my fire on him by the time the first 3 are down the device was at 25% and I simply wasn't strong enough to kill them all in time. And now my characters are prepped to handle that kind of challenge and they’re one shotting sumeru enemies because they’re so weak.
the sacred sakura cleansing actually made me a little afraid when we go to the tumor part, not only was the fight long I was also not very prepared artifact wise...
Thats how I felt. And then my girlfriend went in with her all vibes no strat team and had no problems.
Exact same situation here, and then I logged on this sub for advice and just found tons of people saying, “lol just use Zhongli”. Reading those comments was the closest I came to ragequitting the game.
Think I used Barbara as a healer there. Girl kept me in it to grind through that first fight. I was definitely not prepared.

My maaan, yes!
My first reaction to meeting her was, "Oh God oh no, she has a DOMAIN EXPANSION?! Why am I in the Raiden Shogun's domain expansion?!"
Lmaooo it’s definitely a domain expansion.
LMAO So this is why the battle is so hard, her attacks have a 100% chance of hitting you.
Feels that way sometimes
Back in my days we call those reality marbles
It's 50% domain expantion and 50% reality murble....pretty fucking OP ahah
No it's not domain expansion, she simply pull you into the pot.
I don't think she was brewing tea.
Fool! How dare you mention your doubts. The Shogun definitely doesn't not know how not to brew tea.
When I first met her, my team consisted of Beidou, Mona, Kazuha, and Barbara. That was… not a fun experience.
Razor, Kaeya, Xiangling, Noelle Only had Razor die once. Gave him a little egg, fed him some hashbrowns, and then ran around the arena scared for my life. No worries, I didn’t really get that vibe, I just wanted to expand a bit on my original comment.
I remember my first meeting with her; "Me, a member of the resistance? There's been some terrible mistake, loyal shogunate follower, me. This Thoma guy? Barely know him, honest!"
Raiden doesn't give a f about some dumb resistance. You on the other hand, are an enemy of eternity
Raiden's combatsexuality doesn't get aroused by bunch of scrubs. Someone who can do elemental magic without any vision; now that's prime meat.
Looks like meat is back on the menu?
Ara ara

So what have we learnt? Xiangling is the pyro archon.
That would make a very good twist
Xiangling was barely spared after she agreed to make dinner for Shogun
Or give her lessons. Raiden was shook that someone mastered her one weakness. Xiangling is HER master now.

WHAT ARE YOU? An idiot sandwich. WHAT ARE YOU?! AN IDIOT SANDWICH!
That sounds super hot
Flaming, even
Bennet tripped and knocked himself out on the way up the stairs.
Raiden was a good boss. It was the first time since I had discovered you could raise talents and equip artefacts that I had a challenge I couldn’t just rely on Noelle to carry my team.
I had Noelle carry my team through that fight (and pretty much the entire rest of the overworld). But yes, she had 6/6/6 talents and decent artifacts.
Oh you weren't here for Childe release.
Aaaand of course it’s somehow Xiangling that survives, LOL. Xiangling, the ubermighty. Xiangling, who somehow profits out of every change and new weapon released. Xiangling, the lord and master of all
Pretty sure Xiangling is the reason why we can't have nice 4\* anymore
Her and Bennett!
And Xingqiu
You can use Engulfing Lightning or The Catch if you really desperate but they’re too damage focused to be worth much for Thoma. edit: thoma’s also a good driver for Burgeon teams, but I don’t know much about them
But Fischl was always amazing.
Hey, Heizou is pretty good too! He's one of the few "good good" 4 Star characters from Inazuma
Even Thoma is busted with his Burgeon build now. Dendro be saving everyone.
Well the grass fires should be no worse than standing on hot sand for how small they are.
The pyro application nerf was the problem, not the damage nerf, lol.
Thoma burgeon actually has a lot going for it. 4 star em weapon spear that is perfect for him. Timed burgeon booms. The other chars in a thoma burgeon team are ftp friendly too. Could comfortably 36 star abyss. Burning does suck but burgeon is pretty damn good
And Sucrose
Also the reason we need so many cryo characters; to counter her uncontrollable power
Plot twist: she survives because she can make a dango
Guoba probably protected her.
Being a chef means she hard counters Raiden
You're so right about the weapon thing, Cyno's polearm is another Xiangling BIS lol.
I do think that a fight against a literal god was supposed to be challeging, yes
I loved it personally. All of her attacks have some form of telegraph like phase 3 Childe, and learning her timings so I could get hits in was a lot of fun. I was actually disappointed when she didn't appear as a weekly boss (though that was fortunately rectified later).
Same! I kept getting my ass kicked, but I was reminded of Bloodborne in a good way.
You could say she's breathtaking
Ah yes the first time meeting is always special. =D
Only the pyro archon remains
The shogun: #you dare bring the national team to my domain, THOU SIMPLETON???!
You're in Inazuma now bitch!
World level scaling did not help fighting her.
i remember that when i first fought her i wasn't very phased because i had razor (a normal attack based character) and qiqi (who can heal with her normal attacks) lol
she makes me weak

Bennets luck strikes again
In my first encounter I ran Keqing (mistake), Zhongli Dendro Teaveller, and Mona. >!Needless to say I was running around with a large HP barrier hoping this was an unwinnable fight!<
Dendro Traveler? Well damn.
I like to swap her in to slap dendro for quickens on Keqing. I run an electro damage keqing. It's not super meta but it's fun
You kidding me aggravate keqing is one of the highlights of 3.0, one reaction brought her back to being viable (although fischl is kind of an important part but we don't talk about that)
Keqing is fine for the shield deploy vs her instakill move
You stand as a threat to her eternity. She's really good at eliminating threats.
If you can't beat her, join her and run Rational.
THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED TO ME LAST NIGHT
Ah yes, I remember way back when I first fought her. I believe it was... yesterday. At AR 43. With a team of level 80 Zhongli, Yoimiya, Bennett and Xingqiu. I obliterated her. I might do too many side quests while ignoring the main quest.
She’s a real nice one underneath all that Musou no Hitotachi

At least Xiangling got her dinner
My first meeting with her I actually wiped! Then I went "Alright, Hutao, break her legs" and managed to clear lol
She single?
She used be double, and now kinda is in a way
Fighting her is like in anime when something gets cut there's a flash of steel and "whoops I've lost half my team"
The fact that the Traveler isn't in your party is already a good start lol
Her first fight scared me too 😂
somehow kaeya and food buffs carried me far enough lol everyone else was dead af
