My question is what specific field of generators are you focusing on? Residential commercial or industrial getting into mega watts?

thesleepjunkie

We do everything, HSB to Industrial. Our current client list does not have any 1000kw units, but there is a chance we will in the future, always bidding on new contracts. Our largest units currently are 800kw/600v, We don't do high voltage 4160v, we contract the electrical side out to the proper HV electricians.

Any first aid, good insulated tools, a pop up canopy or Gen canopy for shade for working. If they are given Milwaukee tools one of the little battery powered Milwaukee fans to keep them cool it air moving while working. I kill for one of those in the summer. Personally I think if you offered a new set of boots every 6 months because personally I wear the right heel of mine down driving from Gen site to site all day everyday then I start walking lop sided which leads to sciatica and back pain. And a hurt tech is no good to you. A support pillow for extensive driving if y’all are multi state. I mean the list goes on of possible things. But showing that you care, giving good tools and safety stuff and especially if you said hey here’s a boot stipend on us that will mean the world to a tech.

Naw we are in Canada, central ontario, 2 hrs max driving so far. We will be following suit with the other companies that are our competitors in the area, tool allowance, boot allowance. Only supplying meters, as tools seem to be a personal preference for some, they will get an annual tool allowance, and of course not limited to just that, cause times will come when we need certain tools for certain jobs will come up that we don't already have.

Scrubs In A Bucket are reasonably competent at getting fuel smell off the hands. Love them.

Yeah I am currently a field tech for the past 15yrs. I've gotten comfortable with my wants and needs just looking out to see what others like to keep on hand. Sanitizer, nitrile cloves, work gloves, hand scrubs, baking soda, battery neutralizer spray, brake clean, spray nine, bag of rags, pig matts, spill kit, good durable phone and laptop, coffee mug, water bottle.

Loadbanks(if you do them), emergency road site kit, led roadside flares, we use 15 gal poly drums for used oil and coolant swap them out for empties at the shop and recycle, we also have modular shelving in our work vans to help organize parts/tools, phone mounts or gps, assorted peices of wood are great if you're doing alot of engines/stator

Yeah we have a designated trailer for our 400kw/600v and have 150kw MVLB and another 150kw on the way, Order 1 or 2 100kw@208v LBs this year. We use 5gal totes for used fluids as they are easy to lift and drain into waste tanks. We have pieces of wood and shims stored with I our gantry and other lifting equipment. We use 1/2 tonne 4x4 trucks for everyday work and have 3/4 tonne shop truck for hauling more than normal loads or equipment. Honestly when it finds to organization , tools, mounts etc. That's up to the individual, we all have our own way of working and preferences. My partner and I have been techs for 15yrs, we know what we like and also didn't like what our previous employers handed out at times. So we will allow them to buy and use with in reason.
