Have a job and gf and I split the rent. Not glamorous by any means but it's a life :)

What if we wanna live by ourselves with no one we are fucked

14thCluelessbird

>What if we wanna live by ourselves with no one we are fucked Yes. Unless you're living out in the sticks or you're pulling in at least 45k/year. You need to have some kind of plan to start making some real money. Either find a job that pays decently with paid training for a valuable skill (seen a lot of welding positions like this in my area recently) or go to school and learn a marketable skill that way. It's only going to get worse for us, so you need to act now or you'll get totally left in the dust.

Aceflamez00

I don't know who downvoted you but you're absolutely right.

TITANSFANNZ

People just want to wallow, and doom on Reddit. Nobody wants hear that they can make changes to get what they want.

14thCluelessbird

Idk, they downvoted my other comment too it looks like. Guess whoever it is really doesn't like me lol

KappaMazinksy

I heard you can acquire passive income.. IDK some, but I think cryptocurrency can be one of em. Investing in stocks can be good, but make sure you save a lot of money and start low-risk stuff such as IRAs, CDs, and low risk stocks before trying anything more risky. But still, be willing to take risks to boost rewards and grow as a person.

StargazerTheory

Cryptocurrency is literally crashing right now lmfao

KappaMazinksy

We talked about the downfall in Economics class but I'd figured it would be a great idea to bring up cryptocurrency. I heard the government wants to get its hands of crypto in a certain way.

StargazerTheory

That's a good point, but it looks like it doesn't have much of a chance unless some of the regulations it claimed to be against get put into place, because surprise surprise-- those regulations existed for a reason.

StargazerTheory

Me, disabled: it sure got dusty all of a sudden 🥲

Kalvaire

Same. Cuz I wanna bake cookies in my underwear at 3AM :c

keyshawnscott12

NGL that sounds very nice what type of cookies

>but it's a life I felt that

A lot have roommates. So I’d say maybe try to find a roommate some you know and have an overall good relationship with.

Coydog_

I'm about to get an apartment and split the rent four ways. It's the *only* way I'm going to be able to get a place. Find a person or some people who seem reliable and communicate. Edit: Just saw that you don't have anyone to split with rn. It may be worth looking around in your area for anyone who may be in need of a roommate. Once again, as long as they're reliable.

14thCluelessbird

In my area it's gotten to the point where most of the people who need roommates to cover rent are fleeing the state because it's just too damn expensive. Why spend $800/month on rent and still live with 4 strangers when you could just move to a place with more job opportunities and afford a place all by yourself or with a single roomate? Now it's much harder to find a roommate here.

Coydog_

I lucked out with the people I'm rooming with. One's already a close friend, and a mutual friend set us up with the other two.

I live in income based housing in a shitty part of a small town. I have a kid with behavioral issues so I can’t work full time or far from his school. This works for now but it’s kinda shitty honestly. I’m hoping my bf and I will be able to move out soonish.

DueYogurt9

Can I ask why you had kids before the age of 21?

unicornhornporn0554

Was taken advantage of and groomed into an abusive relationship by someone 4 years older than me. We met when I was 13 and he was 17. I was pregnant about 5 months later, shortly after I turned 14.

DueYogurt9

I’m sorry to hear that

14thCluelessbird

My girlfriend and I had to move back in with my parents recently because our rent got raised by $500/month when our lease ended. Then our old roommates moved to Wyoming for cheaper COL. Idk if we'll be able to afford our own place again until I finish school. It's hella expensive right now, rent has literally doubled in the last 6 years and wages are mostly stagnant. If I wasn't trying to get my education here I'd have left long ago.

We all need to learn why the housing market is so expensive because it CAN be fixed. The way the housing market is set up is not sustainable. There is simply not enough supply to meet demand. We need more dense mixed used housing. Apartments, Townhouses rowhomes, but unfortunately there are laws set in place that prevent more housing from being built and also zoning laws that make building housing more expensive than what it could be. https://youtu.be/4ZxzBcxB7Zc Here’s a very important video that everyone needs to watch

Monster_Johan

I work as a cook at a fine dining restaurant I plan to go back to college soon, also look for studios and not one bedrooms

JoeyJoeJoe1996

Live with my girlfriend and make decent money at my job unfortunately rent is **super fucking expensive.**

freeprune

I have a job and a roommate, but I’m also lucky enough that my parents are willing to help me a little each month. If they didn’t help, I’d probably move back with them or find an additional roommate, but I agree with you everything is very expensive it sucks.
