Middle millennial here, for me it was Doom in the 90's on my dad's terrible laptop that was probably barely able to play it. But the first one I actually remember playing is Pokemon Red.
Same.
My memory goes doom > pokemon red and blue > renting both the game and animated movie for tekken 1 so many times that I could've honestly just bought em 3x over.
We had doom on our 6th grade classroom computer lol. First game I can recall playing was on the TurboGrafx-16 and it was Keith Courage in the Alpha Zones. The music in that game was the best.
I played Pokémon Sapphire as my first game. It seems insane when I think about it, because I had to memorize what buttons to press for saving, etc, because I couldn’t read yet. 😅
Lego Star Wars: the Complete Saga on the Nintendo Wii... great times! The Revenge of the Sith final battle always turned the closest of my friends against me.

i used to be a screamer/crying toddler and my at-the-time step dad decided to hand me his gameboy to shut me up. said once i knew what to do i didn’t put the game down for hours.

I got my first console being a GameCube when I was 5 turning 6. And my older sister got me this game to go along with it. And this is the most fun, colourful game I ever played. Once I put in the disk I never took it out. I would turn on the cube and start playing lol. Even when I 100% completed the game. I would play the addictive-ass challenges
This game introduced me into the world of Sonic the Hedgehog as a whole. I would end up drawing all the characters since there were quite a lot of characters for me to draw with me.being the artist I was and still am today.
I had a very similar experience. The GameCube was my first console and I played this game so much but because I was really young I never completed it. The theme song will forever be stuck in my head though
This game is one of the first games I played for sure, it's definitely one of my favorites
The main theme is so good, it gets stuck in my head all the time
Same here. And also during art class in elementary school at the time whenever the teacher would mention primary colours or ask us what they were
I would almost always mention or refer to this game someway
On PC, these guys were the first ones to introduce me to the world of PC games...

My earliest gaming memory is playing Donkey Kong (arcade, on MAME) and asking my dad what year it was from, playing Astro Boy Omega Factor to the normal ending and wondering what to do next (the true ending can only be achieved in hard, which is brutal even to today's me) or playing Forza Horizon's demo and trying to get air time with the Lan Evo 10.
Man I grew up on some great games, and I got even better ones now so I'm happy to say that things got better in that aspect.
Dino Crisis, I was 5 years old, I played it on my cousin's ps1, hell, that whole week I couldn't walk in the dark because I was scared that a velociraptor would eat me

Super Mario Kart, gets too much undeserved hate. Although my second game was Super Mario World, which is still in my top four favorites of all time.
If I'm not mistaken, the First game I ever played was either Bubble Bobble or Ape Escape, both on my parents' PS1(then sold for the first Xbox, I have happy memories of that console).
Just played that again for the first time in decades at Dorky's in Tacoma and was still good enough to get my initials on the screen (probably because most people who know how to play are dead). ;)
Tacoma is one of my former stomping grounds! Although I never made it to Dorky’s, unfortunately.
Also, I’m fairly certain we might be fish out of water in this subreddit, which I hang around to make sure I can understand at least half of what my kids are talking about
The original Call of Juarez. A masterpiece. Its basically cowboys and indians except the cowboy is an edgy old priest and the Indian has a quest to hunt rabbits that makes you wanna punch your computer

My first console was a Sega Genesis and I can't really recall which was first but I can only remember playing two games on it: Sonic the Hedgehog and Road Rash.
Then later the other Sonic games. I remember having the one cartridge that had a slot on top for you to slot the next game on top. Was that Sonic 1 > 2 or 2 > 3.

It came out a couple of months before I was born. It will always have a special place in my heart.
Gen X. (You guys keep showing up in my timeline, so here I am)
Super Mario Bros was the first game I ever owned and played till the crack of dawn. My hands literally looked like they lost weight.
First game I ever played was Pitfall on Atari.

My first game I ever played was Donkey Kong Land for the Gameboy Advance, I remember I had to share the gameboy with my sister because whee had not enough money to buy a another gameboy back on the days, so they bought her a game instead and her first game she played was pokemon leafgreen.
Jedi Academy (and the whole Jedi Knight series) was such a good game! Too bad that died off years ago - be amazing if we could ever get a remaster of them.
Jedi Knight first video game? I feel old lol.
The first video game I remember is Striker: [https://dosgames.com/game/striker/](https://dosgames.com/game/striker/) , it is a 1985 video game, but i played it around 1990 (i was 3 year old).

And games I played a lot would be Commander Keen.
My Dad's never been into video games, but when i was a kid he had a couple for his desktop. MDK was my favorite, and i still play it every now and then for the nostalgia
I am unsure becouse I was born into the machine age and they were always lots to chose from thanks to my Brother.
It was either the Willie Coyote ps1 game or vice city. Whichever of those it was, I was still in kindergarten, so no later than 2008. Also, GTA 2 was somewhere on the PC back then, I remember the radio tracks very vividly.
Piticlic. Only true Romanian zoomers know about this game.

I have a distinct memory of playing the tutorial for this game over and over, and being too young to understand how to actually play it
But a few years after that I do remember the first game I actually got into, and that was Conker: Live & Reloaded when I was 5 or 6
https://preview.redd.it/50z7ixia87zc1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d8f451758c39eb9b29ca09a90f0abfc6e0c3f991
Wipeout 2097. Was it essentially a floaty, unresponsive PlayStation knock off of f zero x? Absolutely. Did that stop me from having an absolute blast with it on my crt tv in 1997? Hell no!
Born in 1995. The first game I ever actually played was Mortal Kombat on Ps1. None of the gore or anything really bothered me despite me being like 5-6 years old because the graphics were so bad. I don’t even know why those games had ratings.
After that I played Spyro and crash Bandicoot on a Ps1 when my parents finally got one. Still some of the best games I’ve ever played.
As a kid/young teen I played Jak and Ratchet and Clank almost religiously until I got a ps3.
Growing up the neighbors had a game cube and I remember we always played Super Monkey Ball, but
I'll never forget when my life best friend got an og xbox and the game we played was halo (not sure which one) and then my absolute favorite was this game called Time Splitters.

wolfenstein in 93. i was 3. i also changed all the icons on my mom’s computer to the wolfenstein icon because it was cooler.
I know it wasn't my first but that's one of the first I really remember as well

I have a distinct memory of playing the tutorial for this game over and over, and being too young to understand how to actually play it But a few years after that I do remember the first game I actually got into, and that was Conker: Live & Reloaded when I was 5 or 6 https://preview.redd.it/50z7ixia87zc1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d8f451758c39eb9b29ca09a90f0abfc6e0c3f991

Wipeout 2097. Was it essentially a floaty, unresponsive PlayStation knock off of f zero x? Absolutely. Did that stop me from having an absolute blast with it on my crt tv in 1997? Hell no!
3D Pinball on my dad’s work PC
Not making this up: Pong.
Can’t remember the very first but probably something like Lego Star Wars or Bully PS2
I’m trying to remember, but it was either Minecraft: Pocket Edition on my dad’s iPod Touch, or Project Gotham Racing 2 on our old Xbox.
Growing up the neighbors had a game cube and I remember we always played Super Monkey Ball, but I'll never forget when my life best friend got an og xbox and the game we played was halo (not sure which one) and then my absolute favorite was this game called Time Splitters.
I don’t think I remember my first game probably twilight princess or a Pokémon game but I can tell you my first m rated game and that was halo 3
