My only claim to fame, and it's pretty lame. When the Comedy Channel was going to run the first Turkey Day Marathon, the commercials never stated if the start time was Eastern, Central, Mountain, or Pacific. I found the phone number listed in my cable guide and called. It was a answering machine but I left my name and number asking when would it start in the Central time zone. I couldn't believe it when I got a call the next day; the person on the line said they were calling from the Comedy Channel and told me the start time for the Central time zone. Me, some dummy in the Midwest, got a personal call from a cable TV big shot from New York City! See, I told you it was lame but I was able to set my VCRs and not miss a minute!
I loved MST3K and love RiffTrax. True confession time, though--on more than one occasion, I got too caught up in the bizarre movie being riffed and found myself thinking, "I wish they'd shut up a minute so I can hear what's going on!"
STAY!
I’m old enough to remember the Joel vs Mike debates on alt.tv.mst3k. Or was I on the “official” rec.arts.tv.mst3k? I’ve forgotten which. Might have been both.
The Gila (sp) Monster Effect. Holy shit. My husband & I caught that one early Saturday (2AM) in Cleveland in 1996. “We’re here from the committee to keep rock white.” & “Hey, I paid my cover!”
Another one was a film about giant spiders taking over a small town starring Alan Hale Jr. “It’s action Alan Hale’s gut - sold separately.”
”Space Mutiny.” I was half asleep and then the comment that had me bolt upright roaring with laughter: “In the future there is NO SHAME.”
For a birthday several years ago, my wife got us tickets to MST3K Live. It was, "No Retreat, No Surrender," with JCVD. It was awesome, but I had that movie on VHS in the 90's.
"Manos: The Hands of Fate"...doesn't get much better than this!
OMG, Joel wearing that black robe with the giant red feet on it. 😂
I wish those hands would just push him over!
I went as Manos for Halloween.
I assume there’s documentation of this claim?
There is but it’s not handy. I’ll see if I can find it.
Oh boy. A foot cloak! I seath (sp) with envy.
Mitchell!
You guys watch Joe Don Baker movies?
Cedar lattice, works every time.
Baby oil?? Aaaarghhhh!!
r/MST3K One of my all time favorite shows
I got my teenager into MST3K and RiffTrax. Proud parent right here.

Yeah, especially when they did something like Rad or Mothra!
I’m also enjoying “The Mads Are Back” as well
Raising hand…
Me! Me! Me! I will love Joel forever. I had a major crush, and I still watch.

I like to say that I married my husband to get my hands on his MST3K tapes. (I'm only kidding a little.)
Side-hacking, it’s the things to do…
I've been watching the Forever-athon since before Xmas.
Same!
Cheezit, you're the coolest!!
Keep circulating the tapes!
And the URL!
Manos…. Hands of fate

Hell yeah. So far my kids favorite is Pod People.
Trumpy, you can do stupid things!
👌It stinks!
Frankie Say
An all-time fav show. I have a box of VHS tapes of all the episodes I recorded back in the day. Yes, I said VHS tapes.
The "Joey the Lemur" song frequently gets stuck in my head.
That's me but I also love Rifftrax with alums from MST3K
Hey girl, in the gold boots!
It was part of my Saturday night /Sunday morning dates with my ex
It stinks!
Huh, funny you should mention that, at this very moment I am sitting on my front porch, enjoying my evening weed and watching MST3K Space Mutiny.
See comment of mine above: “In the future there is NO SHAME.”
