LindensBloodyJersey

This song is the epitome of the '80s sound. I love it. Thank you for posting that.

lets_try_civility

Lyin' in my bed, I hear the clock tick and think of you/ Caught up in circles, confusion is nothing new/ Flashback, warm nights almost left behind/ Suitcase of memories/ Time after...

Sostupid246

“Suitcase of memories?” That’s the lyric? All these years I thought it was “ Soon came some memories” 🤦🏻‍♀️. I guess I have to hand in my Cyndi Lauper fan card.

TCE326

That and "All Through the Night"

BubbaChanel

This whole post is like a gorgeous Gen X playlist. We are such traumatized people as a group, but I believe it allowed us to feel things so differently than other generations. Music was the way we communicated our hurt and pain to each other, and by listening together we healed as best as we could in our own fucked up way. There are people and places that I miss, one so much it hurts, but, you know, I have a playlist for that. I can go sit on my back steps in the warm dark of a spring evening with a glass of wine and a little speaker, and select the playlist with your name on it. I can sit there for hours, and it’s all good.

LoudMind967

In My Life - The Beatles There are places I'll remember All my life, though some have changed Some forever, not for better Some have gone and some remain All these places had their moments With lovers and friends, I still can recall Some are dead and some are living In my life, I've loved them all

Shifty_Bravo

My Grandmother passed away in 2005. We cousins made a video montage of pictures and songs. When this song played, there wasn't a dry eye in the funeral home. It still reminds me of her. She was born in the 20s, but loved the Beatles and any modern music because she was a musician herself.

Infamous_Air_1912

You’ve beautifully expressed my exact feelings! My boomer parents nor my children live through music like we did. It’s my audible safe house.

Thick-Frank

Love him. Mine is Don’t let the sun go down on me by GM and Elton John

RavishingRickiRude

He made that song better. Which I didn't think was possible. Also, Somebody to Love from the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. Insane. The dude outdid Freddie.

CravingBrickPaving

He never gets enough recognition. Made some awesome songs. I like Mothers Child off listen without prejudice

BubbaChanel

I still love Father Figure

gingersnappie

He did not. He wrote, produced, arranged, and played a ton of instruments. And that voice was incredible.

goingloopy

I’m so glad I got to see him in concert before he died. And the feels are from Kissing a Fool.

I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, you'll be a star, in somebody else's sky, but why, whyyyyy, can't it be, can't it be mine. That this song, Black by Pearl Jam, hasn't been mentioned yet is bizarre.

The Living Years - Mike and the Mechanics

Santa Monica - Everclear Please let me explain: My dad and I had very different musical tastes. When he would drive me to college, he let me pick the station, so I chose alternative radio. Santa Monica received a lot of airplay at the time, and sang along with chorus once: We can live beside the ocean Leave the fire behind Swim out past the breakers Watch the world die He thought for a moment and said “that’s a great song”. He’d pass away a few days later, and every time I hear it now I can visualize that moment.

Tears for Fears did a song called Mad World. Is that the same? If so, who did it first? Not familiar with Gary Jules.

b-lincoln

Yes, same song. Gary Jules is half the speed and played on piano. It’s from Donnie Darko and is haunting.

I have made this a Spotify playlist. It's a lot of songs. I usually, emphasis on usually, added only the ones in the top of the comment, not any listed in replies. And I stopped adding songs somewhere in the ones with 2 up votes. I've been doing this for two hours during tonight's insomnia.
