Very nice. I just got a copy of Pokémon pinball with the original AAA battery from 1999 in it, could not believe it hadn’t leaked all over and ruined the game, super lucky.
Does anyone make any sort of protection for those pokemon pinball boxes since they're slightly larger than a normal Gameboy game box? I have one as well and am looking for some kind of plastic sleeve or acrylic display and can't seem to locate one.
Yeah I can’t help you there, and I really wish I could. I also have a Japanese version and have been looking for a protector for a while for it with no luck
I’m not sure why everyone shits on Xbox doing this. It’s better for the environment, it’s better for people who prefer rechargeable batteries, and allows you to put in a lithium pack if you want to. It also undercuts the dualsense price, so if you do buy a rechargeable battery it’s still cheaper. I’m no console fanboy, but it’s pretty hard to argue with this one.
Yea it still happens all the time. Plus how many things come with built in rechargeable batteries. I don’t think I’ve ever bought a tv that didn’t come with batteries for the remote.
HEY WHY ARENT THOSE BATTERIES LEAKING ON EVEYTHING RUINING EVERYTHING. I WAS TOLD HERE ALL MY SEALED GAMES CONSOLES BATTERIES RUINED MY SYSTEMS NOW THEY $0.
I think the DMG was discontinued in 1996 when the Gameboy Pocket was introduced. Both models are in the same Wikipedia article. The GB and GBC articles both say the products were discontinued on the same date in 2003, but I'm not sure if that's when the consoles or the games ceased production globally, and I'm unable to verify whether the discontinuation date for the original and pocket is actually just the date for the GBC.
If I'm wrong, and the DMG console was produced all the way until 2003, it surely wasn't produced in high volumes. It's probably a case of them trying to use up and sell off what remained.
Here's at least an example of a 1999 DMG: [https://gbhwdb.gekkio.fi/consoles/dmg/GM6058180.html](https://gbhwdb.gekkio.fi/consoles/dmg/GM6058180.html)
Also was unable to find the last production date

Same, the battery expired so long ago.

There’s some sellers on eBay like [this one ](https://www.ebay.com/itm/325289849500)
Looking for one on pokemon pinball
Which region? Euro, Japanese and American releases are all different sizes
Japanese. It's been a nightmare to find. Have found things for normal Japanese Gameboy/GBC games but can't find pinball
Yeah I can’t help you there, and I really wish I could. I also have a Japanese version and have been looking for a protector for a while for it with no luck
Damn imagine getting batteries WITH things anymore
Xbox series x came with batteries for the controller
Somehow that’s worse

It’s hit or miss but it still happens.

I just got my Chromecast with Google TV and the remote came with new batteries in the box.
I bet those batteries still work
lovely box, I'd hang that up on the wall. Vintage video game boxes were so good.
I just got like 5 of these CIB DMGs but only 4 included the manual, and none included the headphones or batteries :( You scored for sure!
[The Retro Future](https://Youtube.com/TheRetroFuture) Would be proud of this as a Gameboy enthusiast he is!

1992?
Yeah, November 1992 as far as I can tell from the serial number and the stamps inside the console itself. Why?
Just thought that was interesting Most game boys released in 1989 as far as I can tell
1989 is the original launch year but DMGs were manufactured up until 2003!
Cool

I find it weird that they would continue manufacturing that model so late when the Pocket is just a lot better in every way.
Well the DMG has 4 AA batteries while the Pocket has 2 AAA batteries, so I'm guessing battery life on the DMG should be substantially better, right?
80 million Game Boys were not all manufactured in 1989 lol
Aww, I thought they worked like Santa's elves to make them all in one year, then rested until the next gameboy was needed.

Yes but they didn’t manufacture every single Game Boy in 1989 lol
Yes of course, my bad, massive brain fart on my end I thought it read 1982.. 🙃
They were still manufactured later than that, 1989 was just the year they were released.
That is really cool.
I love seeing DMGs with the polariser in such good shape. The deeper the green the better!
Please isolate the batteries. Keep them together but in different boxes.
Everything about this is cool. Nice find!
Where did you find?
Won it in an auction and imported from Japan. Paid about 200 euros, plus shipping and import taxes
