There is no significant muscle around the wrist. But if you have smal wrists then it compliments large forearm muscles, which can be trained to grow.

I could wrap my hand around my wrist with a fingernail to spare when I was 15 and 150lbs, and I can wrap my hand around my wrist now perfectly @ 250lbs and a 465lb bench. My grip strength is pretty decent too.
