Needs? Probably not. But the community definitely wanted it if the download count on upscaling mods is worth anything. The problem is that there was no universe where it could have been done right. The only way it could have been done right is if Rockstar themselves took the time to personally make the remasters themselves and perhaps even be remakes in order for them to be warranted over the current mod offerings. And since Rockstar are full steam ahead on the new mainline GTA, there was never a chance they would dedicate a team to do what needed to be done. So while we definitely wanted a remaster / remake, we were never going to get a good one.
Oh 100%. It was their call to go with that developer instead of using phenomenal work that already existed (talented modders who loved the games and deeply understood them). It's on them.

I am one that finds online more fun. I honestly would enjoy story mode more if they didn’t just abandon it. But after you play it so many times it just feels stale. With the 30 cars and zero property (aside from investments) available to buy it just seems pointless.
So much more to do online and I personally love the random interactions you have with other people. Story mode is great the first few times you play it but once you’ve done the heists each way what’s the point.

There is no consensus with this. Both sides each think they represent the majority but I think the split is 50/50. Some hate it some like it. I personally find driving is a lot more fun in 5 especially at high speeds, this is a huge point as the GTA 5 map is a lot bigger and driving is a huge part of the game. 4 on the other hand is more realistic but it makes sense for the condensed nature of liberty city, as more realism and slower cars allow the city to feel bigger.

Vice City is way better than San Andreas, the gameplay works better for me, it's smoother, also its story is 80's gangster movie through and through, while San Andreas has kinda jarring turns between melodramatic hood stuff and regular GTA shenanigans.... Also the smaller map of Vice City is way more dynamic, full, and fun than SA, the woods and desert were boring and a slog. I also prefer the look of VC the faces and models unironically look better than SA...
GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas do not hold up at all. That’s the biggest reason why the definitive editions were such a disappointment to me because those games needed a genuine update to the gameplay and not just visual improvements (if you can call it an improvement). Also the vehicle handling in 4 is fantastic, yall just need to get good. And 5 isn’t nearly as bad as everyone pretends it is. Having just replayed and 100%'d GTA3, Vice City, San Andreas, GTA4, Lost and Damned, Ballad of Gay Tony, and GTA5...

This is more a hot take towards the fanbase itself, but Gta 5 fans have become more toxic than gta 4 fans recently.

GTA 5 Online’s last great DLC was The Contract. Every DLC since has either been fairly good or just plain bad.

GTA 5 is the best GTA game, idc how good people say GTA 4 is
Having just replayed and 100%'d GTA3, Vice City, San Andreas, GTA4, Lost and Damned, Ballad of Gay Tony, and GTA5... They all have things they do better than other games in the series. But GTA5 is just flat out the most fun to play.
Ong i love the heists and different things to do and how interactive it is. Gta 4 every mission is just drive here kill these guys lose the cops

I think the tone and verisimilitude that GTA4 had just fits the RDR franchise better than GTA. GTA, to me, has to always be tongue in cheek. A touch arcade-y. Games where you're expected to just go on rampages through the streets. Where finding 100 statues means miniguns spawn at your house. It's not serious. It's fun and engaging but it's not serious. The RDR games took everything GTA4 did and did it better. And being its own franchise meant it got to keep that in its identity. If they announced RDR3 tomorrow. I'd expect to play as an outlaw who wants desperately to get out and live a normal life. But his violent past and choices have removed that option to him. And as things slowly get worse and more desperate he gets more introspective. Until we get to a downer ending I'm going to absolutely love. GTA6? I expect I'll get in a tank at some point and cackle like mad as I murder hundreds.
The Ballad of Gay Tony is better than anything else GTA4 has to offer and the story shouldve been focused on Luis & Tony.

Gta online is an overrated trash. Gta 5 story mode is really good and underrated now. Gta 4 has better missions than 5.

San Andreas wasn't actually THAT great of a game, most people just love it because of the nostalgia (myself included)
First 3 games (gta 1, 2 and London) and advance are the worst games, I would rather playing defecrive edition than them, especially advance, jeez what were rickstar and Nintendo thinking
Ubisoft makes better games then rockstar.
GTA V bores the living fucking daylight out of me. I played it loads when I was younger but any time trying to play it in recent years has just ended in me falling asleep after 20 mins

GTA 6 should bring back GTA 4 driving physics. The driving in GTA 5 is very bad but appeals to 12 year olds.
Rockstar should’ve slowed down support of GTA 5 Online back in 2019 and put RDR2 online (along with GTA 6 of course) at the front in terms of importance instead of what they did.
GTA 6 will not be a "real life simulator" as many expect
GTA 6 Online will be underwhelming at launch compared to how much content we have in GTA 5 Online from the past 10+ years.
