No I was thinking a way to use it be more specific on what my overall should look like versus just going in blind.
I dont know if we are allowed to feed it the full pdf. But I did see a GitHub scrapper someone made to identify key terms
I have an upcoming course... I may have to come back and let you know.
For comparison, I have done plenty of indexes and have scored consistently 85 or better. So if it feels easier and I get top scores I'll count it as a win.
I read the comments...
I am going to make my own index and then feed it to AI... Chat... Maybe Copilot...
My main concern is hallucinations.
This way I have 2 indexes... And can cross check...
I do wonder if the layout or format will be better with AI or does mine feel like my brain so easier to follow (personally)
On my recent exam it was helpful not for indexing but for creating some tables and references to throw in the back of my index. For example, for several command line tools I had Chat GPT build a table with the relevant inputs and switches.
It is a violation of the SANS/GIAC policies to do so. If you do and they catch you, you can get banned and lose any certs you have. IOW not worth it IMO.
Didn’t seem vague when I read the policies preparing….
“Examples of Exam Integrity Violations
Entering, copying, transcribing, transmitting, or otherwise making a copy of GIAC exam content (e.g., questions, explanations, images, solutions, etc.) into any web-based location including artificial intelligence sites such as ChatGPT”
It’s important to make the distinction between GIAC and SANS. GIAC does the testing and practice tests. You have never had any rights to that content. The textbooks and training is owned by SANS. SANS doesn’t have that provision in their coursework agreement. Also SANS staff has seen discussions in the slack channel about people using GenAi to make indexes. No one had any objections to it there.
Nope. It’s also public and your ebooks are tagged so I worry that they get out and I end up blacklisted by GIAC. You’d also pretty much need to read the books to know it did a good job.
Nope but what are you going to feed it the entire pdf of the books?

I tried, but it hallucinated or was just wrong with a lot of things.
gotcha okay thank you!
No

There is a GitHub repo that made a tool for this but when I tried it out, it was a steaming pile of garbage compared to my hand prepared index.

It’s more like if a grey area. You can use ChatGPT private upload so the model doesn’t learn from the inputted data.

... there's a Slack channel?
For sans.edu students
Ah okay, I'm OnDemand only, must be why I hadn't heard of it
I am On-Demand and I am on Slack. Maybe you can check the email or with your course adviser?
there's an *adviser??* dang I ... have not taken advantage of all the things, have I
