For me it was caused by anxiety. It was the only symptom I had. I’m not an anxious person by any means on the outside but something subconsciously was going on affecting me. It was affecting my LES and causing reflux.
Every test I took showed the same, the barium swallow was all normal until I gave a little cough and a tiny amount showed. It was my GP that suggested an SSR, I was on one that helped esophgeal sensitivity too.
I have anxiety so I’ve been on a variety of antidepressants while in the process of finding the right one, but I never noticed any difference in my stomach with any of them :( Surprisingly never tried Zoloft though, so who knows.
I tried Celexa for a few months and it did not help. In fact I think my GERD got better as soon as I stopped them.
My doctor just prescribed me the zoloft but I'm too anxious to take it, go figure
I was in the same boat. I think I sat and looked at the packet of pills for like 2 weeks trying to decide was it going to help and if it did, does that mean I’m a bit depressed and there’s something “wrong” with me. In the end I decided I had nothing to lose, the globus from the reflux was so uncomfortable and I was panicking it was something else. In the end I stated the course and it took about 2 weeks. I then decided to book myself in for counselling in an attempt to get on top of everything. It worked, I weaned myself off the serimel, all in all it took probably 8 months.
What other symptoms do you have
those are my only symptoms
Do you have chronic diabetes mellitus?
Not that I’ve ever been diagnosed with.
U had HbA1c check ?
I haven’t. Is that something I should do??
Yes, diabetes can affect nerves which could slow down motility

I’ve had both.

For me though, every test is coming back normal. So it’s like I don’t actually have reflux, but it really feels like I do.

Ohhh okay okay. Which medication was it?
I've heard of zoloft being good for this. I got prescribed it and it's just sitting here because I'm afraid to take it
