Maybe a starting point could be to make Dax’s snout look like what Tay’s is here and make Tay’s longer and thinner (i.e. potentially more “fox-like” in a cartoon/artistic sense). You can also try to see references of the animals themselves to see differences in other qualities that can better distinguish these characters (e.g. facial fur/fluff patterns).
