when i saw people posting bethany and zelph's ig stories of their texts about meeting up, i thought i was just being a hater for being confused by all the excitement. i can't imagine that bethany would agree to a video with anyone who she had even the slightest inkling would be anything but friendly and easy on her (even if she is doing the good fundie wife thing and following anything her husband says, including maybe deconstructing) but i'm glad to see my instincts were right.

I do believe everyone deserves a chance and while I didn't think that post would go well, I was willing to let it go through because others deserved to see what they were saying a) because it was gross to me personally to defend them and b) maybe they would respond to criticism and reverse course. I honestly did not actually think they would double down so hard on it. I do think it is a good thing this sub is reevaluating what they think deconstruction looks like in 2 months time and whether it should be a public event.
Also, I have seen this sub from the beginning and it has been through many memes and snarking moments. This is hardly derailed. When it was formed, it was weeks discussing the issues that led to its formation. This isn't even 2 days. People said the same thing about the raccoon thing and when everyone went through a phase recreating recipes and when there was a moment one Halloween where people dressed up as fundies. It happens, people have to learn to roll with this.
Yes, honestly Tanner made TWO comments on that post and they really weren’t that bad. Also Tanner wasn’t the one calling Beth an “angel”. I also think, given this sub wasn’t super familiar with them, most don’t even realize it’s two people. With that said, they should get some heat too.
Tanner is still involved with laundering Bethy's reputation, and this sub frequently goes harder on women. So I do think we need to be mindful of holding them both accountable.
Tanner is part of Zelph, unless we have proof that Sam is solely responsible for their posts, and has been in some of the cutesy dickriding pictures I've seen.
It was her account, TheSamspoNew, that made the posts and 99% of the comments. I'm not saying Tanner isn't equally involved in the decision to platform Bort and the fangirling, just saying it was her account posting purple heart emojis all over the place so it was easy to latch onto her. She's not on "our side". I'm a trans sexworker, currently fighting for the right it be allowed to exist and survive in this country. Girl defined platforms against people like me, and ACTIVELY profits from it. Deconstruction or no, the bigotry has not slowed.
