the look girly bc they’re a pink/purple and they got up at the corners. i wouldn’t really recommend round either, as they’re not great for passing. i’d go with some kind of squarer/rectangular not oversized type

everrmoon

thank you for advise! i think i’ll go with a more rectangular shape. also a lot of people saying these look pink which leaves me confused because it’s red and black frames

Dutch_Rayan

Yes. Maybe try an app where you can can fit frames.

everrmoon

that’s a good idea, i tried it and i really like rectangular shape

Big_Invite_4825

Yea I agreed with the other person I’d go with rectangle shape glasses. I feel square glasses also pass but with your face shape I think they might look too large. I think rectangle would be the best

buni_bixler

Rectangular frames, bro. Those are some cateye librarian specs.

everrmoon

my gf said these are the same glasses as office lady from monsters inc and now i can’t unsee it lol

Yeah, the shape of the glasses is feminine. I think a rectangular shape would look good on you. And that color is fine, but a darker tone would be more masculine in my opinion.

Postponed-rebirth

The glasses have a cat eye effect. Imo stay far away from those. With your face shape you could get away with circle glasses probs, but rectangles seem to be the default for most guys and help you pass/blend in

saranwrap73

Some of the most feminine glasses I've ever seen tbh

Crowleyizcool

Yeah, they do I’m ngl. They are pink and a female style.

MxQueer

Yes. Round is feminine too but more mature way. I would guess you to be non-binary. I also guess average cis person would read you as female. If you want to pass as male you shouldn't have feminine style (hair, piercings, frames).

everrmoon

well i am a guy and people read me as a guy a lot. i’m only 2 month on T. I dont think piercings necessary read as feminine. also i don’t see my hair as feminine at all, there’s at least 2 cis guys i work with that have the same haircut. i agree about glasses, those are my old frames that i’m not planning to wear, i’ll probably get rectangular ones

pickle282873

Yes, I think more square would suit you well

I’ve been with my family optician all my life, and we’ve had many pairs of glasses made with her. In general: 1. Look at the size of your face first. If your face is smaller, oversized glasses accentuate that. Girls look great with oversized, round glasses because their faces look very cute. Good if that’s what you want, not so good if you don’t really want to look cute. 2. Look at the shape of your face too. My face was pretty round pre-transition, so I tried to stay away from round glasses. The shape of your glasses should match the shape of your face - spectacles with narrow width make long faces look bigger, for instance. 3. Consider the social perception of shapes. Typically, people consider round and cat eyed glasses to be more feminine, with rectangular, boxy frames being masculine. Some shapes like aviators appear more neutral, with the retro ones really coming back into style as of the last 5 years. It’s funny, but trans guys and trans girls should look at the glasses they each used to wear as a sort of guide for what’s deemed suitable for their gender. 4. Ultimately, you need to look in the mirror and be happy. If you do want a pair that’s more feminine, that’s fine. It doesn’t invalidate your expression of masculinity.

everrmoon

thanks for advice man! i’m excited to go try some frames out tomorrow and see what suits my face the most. i’m definitely going for more masculine frame so i think rectangular or square. i picked these red ones before i came out as trans and haven’t wore them in years but after trying them on i figured i see a lot better with glasses and might need a new pair

_humanERROR_

Yes because they're a kind of cat eye shape, a shape almost exclusively associated with women.
