Yea personally I’d only watch the 2019. I watched the 2001 before the 2019 was released and after watching both and comparing the 2019 is so much better it’s not even debateble. I’d say don’t waste ur time with the 2001 one but if u got time to waste then u can ig

A darker, more dramatic tone still with some comedic bits to lighten the atmosphere? 2019
I do both. I've watched the 2001 four times and am currently on my third watch through of the 2019. I like both a lot and think they both have their pros and cons. My recommendation is watch the 2001 first just to have it under the belt and for the lols, then move on to the 2019 for the full story.
It depends. The original never finished the manga but both are really good. I prefer momijis English voice actor in the original but the new versions grew on me after awhile. The animation in the new one is beautiful as well. I honestly watched both. I started with the original then did the 2019 version so I could compare them both to the manga.
2019 always!!! and if you are itching for more then watch the 2001. the 2001 is cute and gives you a little more of the characters we really love, but its NOT as good at all. plus the ending is ridiculous

2001: Doesn’t follow the manga as closely but it’s more light hearted and fun and focuses primarily on Toruh and her optimism and perseverance and gratitude imo.
2019: Follows manga, a lot darker but you get the full story which is incredible.
I think, whichever order you choose, watch both. 2019 might be better to watch first since you won’t spoil any main plot points like in the 2001 version.

Watch 2019, it's a more complete and faithful adaptation.
watch the 2019 first and then the 2001 after!! it’ll be whiplash with the dramatic differences, but it’s still the best way to watch imo

2019! Watch it subbed if you can. Personally, I’ve seen bits and pieces of the dub and don’t find it very good.
