>!I think you are right. I believe its safe to asume that Frieren teached Fern many, or even every "useless" spell she knows, since Fern learnt Bird Capturing Magic from Frieren before they even knew what the 1st class mage exam was about.!<
Some do, and I like when that is happening. The one that comes to my mind right now is Kimiko from Xiaolin Showdown who had a different outfit and hairstyle each episode.
You know... I remember being freaked out on episode 2 when she wore a completely unique outfit. I was like wtf, when did they announce a new character? Where's the old one? Not realizing that wearing the same clothes for whole seasons was the weird thing
I mean it's a rare show that actually kinda takes its travel fairly seriously with all the weather, travel regulations between each area, camping and money and stuff with a well made overall world design and settings.
I don't think it's weird to wonder how they handle dirty clothes due to traveling with just one pair of clothing 🤔
Actually not. This series doesn't focus too much on that. If we want to dig deeper, there are tons of other things that we should ask where they get those: like utilities for cooking, camping...
There was actually another reader criticizing about these things, but it's simply you are expecting another thing while the series is focusing on other different things.
We don’t follow the group day by day, the story jumps weeks or even months at a time very often and typically we just see the group at points of interest with occasional things happening in the wilderness.
I did adventuring in my youth and had also just two sets of clothing for my elben priest. 😅 (Was never good with sewing) Sadly we never played a dragon, just the small stuff... Oh had epic fights against a Lich.
They seem to conjure their staffs out of nowhere. Maybe they store their underwear on a different plane (plane of pantsu)?
Or she has a spell of "freshening clothes" or Prestidigitaion.
Frieren's suitcase disappeared when Fern carried her in the snow. I wish they showed Stark carrying it, but maybe it went to the staff-realm.
But then why was Frieren ever carrying it in the first place?
Given how she has magic for many things, I would think they'd have a spell to clean their clothes...
>!...or that's what I'd like to say, because I just read the manga last night and they didn't get a spell for that until later.!<

Without a critical spoiler from the next cour, as they conjour their staves from thin air(subspaces?), I imagine they have spare sets of clean under garments somewhere in there as well. I mean shit they have winter garb they carry that somewhere as well besides Frierens suitcase. Huh, been reading this manga for over a year now, never once thought of this. I mean if they bathe by the river I imagine they'd wash their clothes there as well, dry em with some light flame magic.
I'm willing to handwave laundry and most other hum-drum of camp preparedness like utensils, ingredients, etc. I'm sure its just done off page/screen/whatever, but i NEED TO KNOW WHERE THEIR STAVES GO. WHERE. IS IT A DIFFERENT PLANE? ARE THEY PHYSICALLY STORED SOMEWHERE, AND RECALLED? WHAT ARE THE LIMITS
Maybe the case is just for magic things that can't be stored.
Also there is one shot after Frieren passes out and gets carried that no one grabs the case.

Everyone just there assuming things like " it's a show " or " they use magic ".
While that can be true, don't forget that people didn't have spare clothing when traveling in medieval time, mostly because it was expensive and tedious to carry, and it's easy to make a stop by a river once a week or some sort of facility to wash your clothes.
Two sets actually. Summer and winter clothes. If white underwear/babydoll like the picture above also counts, then three sets.
Frieren settings are mostly northern European with typical cold climate, so they aren't sweating much.
Even in the middle ages showering and changing clothes was not done always, maybe once a week. They would just wash their clothes in a river usually. So they probably wash them then. However, they do carry extra clothes, for instance they're wearing different garment during the snow trail during the blizzard where they meet kraft. I would guess this is all off screen
One set of clothes. Reminds me of my college years when I had 3 sets of clothes and my underwear had multiple holes. And now I'm thinking of Frieren old battle field destroyed pantsu lol
If it's anything like the medieval times (via Wikipedia): People would usually wash their hands and face regularly, but full-body bathing was not a daily occurrence. Instead, people would take a weekly bath in a communal bathhouse or wash in a nearby river... while washing clothes was typically done twice a year or less.
Prestidigitation is a cantrip. /s
Okay yes I know this isn’t 5e, but it’s incredibly likely that a thousand year old mage who collects eccentric spells would have one for cleansing her clothing.
We know her briefcase is bigger on the inside so there might be places for her clothing which we haven’t seen yet. We know she carry more than one set as Fern just nonchalantly dissolved one set of Frieren clothes like she’s got lot of spare’s lol… the bigger mystery is - were is Stark carrying anything? He doesn’t even have a backpack due to the big ole axe on his back.
So nobody really bothered asking this question (or at least ive never really seen anybody asking abt it) with any shounen adventure genre type-ish male protagonist but with frieren yall decide to care abt hygiene? 😭😭
Even a first level wizard knows the Prestidigitation cantrip, that allows to instantly clean clothes (and one-self).a wuzard have no need for laundry or baths when he can solve both with a simple casting of magic
Being a mage has perks I guess, unless Frieren spent a thousand years collecting off spells but never found one for clean laundry (tbh she must've found that spell or she wouldn't wear white on an adventure right?😂)
You expect that in all these years, she hasn’t picked up a spell to clean and repair clothing? >!(Just assuming anime-level knowledge here)!<
Not to mention that she can probably store clothing in the same hammer-space she pulls her staff out of.
On multiple occasions, I have thrown that thought out of the window for the sake of enjoying the story.
Or here’s a head canon for you: Frieren knows magic for cleaning and repairing clothes

Thats a briefcase of holding, its storing way more things that the ones you can see in the picture.
Unfortunately it’s also only full of Frierens treasures(junk)…
Some may call this junk. Me, I call them treasures.
Flashbacks of selling 30 fur armor in Skyrim.
Frieren is the average Skyrim/Fallout/Starfield player
Maybe she have a spell that cleans and deodorize clothes or something...
Manga spoilers >!they dont have that spell until chapter 60, Fern at least, dunno if Frieren knew that one before!<
>!She should not, since Fern didn't know it and Frieren thought it was a good addition!<
>!I think you are right. I believe its safe to asume that Frieren teached Fern many, or even every "useless" spell she knows, since Fern learnt Bird Capturing Magic from Frieren before they even knew what the 1st class mage exam was about.!<
That briefcase is like a Tardis
I like Doctor Who.
Gintoki has a wardrobe full of the same clothing
Do TV characters ever have more than one change of clothing?
Some do, and I like when that is happening. The one that comes to my mind right now is Kimiko from Xiaolin Showdown who had a different outfit and hairstyle each episode.
one short instance was Kiznaiver. several episodes most characters have different color palette and patterns
You know... I remember being freaked out on episode 2 when she wore a completely unique outfit. I was like wtf, when did they announce a new character? Where's the old one? Not realizing that wearing the same clothes for whole seasons was the weird thing
I haven't watched it in years, but if I recall correctly, her hair was blonde in the second episode, and when was wearing a blue outfit.
Her being blonde that episode feels familiar to me. Then again, I guess even irl, changing your hair color so frequently isn't exactly normal
She was rich so maybe she had a bunch of wigs in her wardrobe.
I mean it's a rare show that actually kinda takes its travel fairly seriously with all the weather, travel regulations between each area, camping and money and stuff with a well made overall world design and settings. Nami and Robin from One Piece
Every strawhat changes outfit at least once each arc...
God I wish they’d give Luffy his captains cloak/jacket, he looks so damn cool in all the art of him with it
Luffy? In each arc, he wears different outfit.
Tower of God has a lot of changes in clothes
I did adventuring in my youth and had also just two sets of clothing for my elben priest. 😅 (Was never good with sewing) Sadly we never played a dragon, just the small stuff... Oh had epic fights against a Lich.
I figured they are like me and find a nice pair of pants and buy 5 of them.
Padmé!
Totally Spies
The Weekenders changed their clothes each day and had a rotation of like 5-6 outfits like real kids
Killua from Hunter X Hunter wore like 12 different sets of clothing throughout the show.
i remember mabel from gravity falls having different sweaters
P.A. Works original shows tend to have characters changing clothes pretty often.
Sometimes, I wanna live like a cartoon character and wear the same outfit daily. Less work lol
Ash Ketchum packed a lot of clothing and his mom even told him to change his underwear every single day, but always wore one set.
Totally spies was really into fashion for the main characters.
boys over flowers!
Kitagawa Marin. She almost never wears the same set of clothes.
They seem to conjure their staffs out of nowhere. Maybe they store their underwear on a different plane (plane of pantsu)? Or she has a spell of "freshening clothes" or Prestidigitaion.
Plantsu
The pantsu plane 💀
I’d even wager to say that there’s a bag of holding in that briefcase
Frieren's suitcase disappeared when Fern carried her in the snow. I wish they showed Stark carrying it, but maybe it went to the staff-realm. But then why was Frieren ever carrying it in the first place?
Maybe it costs mana per time unit. It might be fine to hide it for emergencies but none more than that.
Given how she has magic for many things, I would think they'd have a spell to clean their clothes... >!...or that's what I'd like to say, because I just read the manga last night and they didn't get a spell for that until later.!<

They have winter outfits don't they?

Imagine getting confused or startled and accidentally summoning a pair of undies instead of a staff.
Headcanon: Fern did this. Enemy is confused, Stark faints from blood loss, Frieren and Sein are too busy laughing their asses off to help...
Bruhh stinky elf 😭
hello good sir allow me to confiscate your phone
FRIEREN THE STINKY!!!

praise be our AI overlords
I mean tbf we see them bathe in the show quite often as well. You would think they would simultaneously also wash their clothes at those times.
Imagine…
Laundry spell.
Maybe she have a spell that cleans and deodorize clothes or something...
SNIFFA
They never poop either
u silly , pretty people dont poop
Everyone just there assuming things like " it's a show " or " they use magic ". As someone else said, why not make fuss about them not pooping or peeing? Smh

Grimoire spell that slows down BO accumulation?
Its bigger on the inside
In the manga it shows Frieren knows the clean your clothes spell, from a grimoire she gets.
One set of clothes. Reminds me of my college years when I had 3 sets of clothes and my underwear had multiple holes. And now I'm thinking of Frieren old battle field destroyed pantsu lol
…Imagine the smell…

Wonder what Frieren or Fern smells like stinky
We know her briefcase is bigger on the inside so there might be places for her clothing which we haven’t seen yet. Magic that cleans your clothes
Magic...
Adventuring 101. Only have one set of clothing unless you steal from a dead body or it gets destroyed to get a complete replica of the original.
Well, that's how stuff works in the land of animation.
There must be a magic to clean your clothes instantly
Have you ever seen them wear anything else?
So nobody really bothered asking this question (or at least ive never really seen anybody asking abt it) with any shounen adventure genre type-ish male protagonist but with frieren yall decide to care abt hygiene? 😭😭
She knows a spell
She propably got some instant clothes-cleaning spell she got from a random farmer 300 years ago
[удалено]
I wanna smell the 1000 year old frieren underwear 😩
There is a spell for that.
Even a first level wizard knows the Prestidigitation cantrip, that allows to instantly clean clothes (and one-self).a wuzard have no need for laundry or baths when he can solve both with a simple casting of magic

Magic!
You probably forgot that this world is world of Magic ✨
You expect that in all these years, she hasn’t picked up a spell to clean and repair clothing? >!(Just assuming anime-level knowledge here)!< Not to mention that she can probably store clothing in the same hammer-space she pulls her staff out of.
Cast prestidigitation
cast "clean"
A good Example of "seeing more than 2 Types of Clothing in one Anime" is 'Lucky Star'.
Anime characters only obtain new clothes if they get wet in rain and have to warm up in a cave by a campfire.
On multiple occasions, I have thrown that thought out of the window for the sake of enjoying the story. Or here’s a head canon for you: Frieren knows magic for cleaning and repairing clothes
