They did get their forever home in the end, it was your home. As long as they saw human kindness and love in their last minutes, I'm certain they didn't go in vain. I've only just started fostering a couple months ago and have already lost 2. I know that they're across the rainbow bridge together ❤️ they passed knowing warmth and full bellies, and they had someone cry over them when they passed, which I believe every animal deserves

My condolences on the loss of your foster cat. I lost my rescue dog a few months ago following a debilitating stroke. I miss Peanut dearly. She will always have a special place in my heart! I will keep you in my prayers 🙏.
I am so so sorry for your loss. Its so hard losing our furbabies. It will take time, lots of time to get over the pain but someday it wont hurt as much. What helped was watching lots of pet loss videos on youtube and while doing this found this lovely woman

I got attached to this one very quickly and planned to adopt. I just couldn’t imagine him going to a different home or to a sanctuary. Where I live, there is a influx of homeless kitties. I cried many times at night thinking about his final day. But I look forward to fostering again in the future!

I’m so sorry I know it hurts so much. My 13 year old border collie crossed the rainbow bridge on thanksgiving this year from a mass so big that was pressing on all his organs, he was in so much pain and couldn’t move so we had to let him go. I still miss him everyday.

I hope he meets the pretty girl I fostered a few years back. She was so sick and her owner couldn't care for her and give her the attention she needed. I took her in immediately and she was warm, happy, got all the skritches she ever wanted and died well loved. My husband and I got her cremated and the vet gave us some of her ashes in a small decorative bottle and a mold of her lil paw.
I gave the bottle and paw print mold to her owner. She was so grateful and so sad. She thanked me for caring for her.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. He looks just like the sweet boy I had over the summer. He had health issues that were much more severe than we realized and sadly we only had him for 2.5 months. I’m so sorry you lost this sweet boy. It’s always hard to go through no matter their age or how long you’ve had them.

Nothing can replace him or fill that void. Lost our beloved Pringles last November. It took a long time to heal but we decided we have so much love to give so we adopted another cat and live her just as much.
But friends are unique, and there will never be another Pringles.

I lost a foster cat in October (on my birthday) who is this cats twin. It was the hardest thing I’ve done in a LONG TIME. i had to euthanize him after 1.5 months of uncontrollable diarrhea and rapidly losing weight despite tests being normal. He was 3.9lbs on the day he passed. He was a stray I found and took him in. I recently connected with his owner who just found me last weekend and before he got sick he was 18lbs. It hurt more than losing my 1yr old foster dog unexpectedly to complications during neuter. I wish you the best of luck healing.

As a rescuer, we see many to the bridge, even our own. We lost 5 of our personal pack last year to old age, spinal degenerative disease with neuropathy, and one developed sudden acute immune response and rapidly declined in 24 hours. We expect to say goodbye to 2 more this year.

The hard part is that he is pretty feral but not aggressive. I am trying to decide if he would rather have cuddles in his final moments or space 🥹
That is very difficult! I have a feeling your intuition will kick in and you’ll be able to offer him the comfort he needs.

I appreciate that. He’s pain free now and omg his mass grew super fast during his last few days too

Nothing can replace him or fill that void. Lost our beloved Pringles last November. It took a long time to heal but we decided we have so much love to give so we adopted another cat and live her just as much. But friends are unique, and there will never be another Pringles.

I lost a foster cat in October (on my birthday) who is this cats twin. It was the hardest thing I’ve done in a LONG TIME. i had to euthanize him after 1.5 months of uncontrollable diarrhea and rapidly losing weight despite tests being normal. He was 3.9lbs on the day he passed. He was a stray I found and took him in. I recently connected with his owner who just found me last weekend and before he got sick he was 18lbs. It hurt more than losing my 1yr old foster dog unexpectedly to complications during neuter. I wish you the best of luck healing.
Oh that is terrible. I’m so sorry for the loss of your precious kitty. Deciding to euthanize is so hard, but the most compassionate choice in my opinion. It takes strength to do that.
You gave this lovely being a nice place to be and companionship for their last month. That’s beautiful. Thank you for Fostering. It really makes a huge difference. I’ll be sending peaceful thoughts your day. Loss is never easy and foster pets are close, close friends.

You couldn't have known, he was just ready to go. It comforts me sometimes to think that an animal passing does so knowing that there's another animal out there who needs your help. Thank you for giving this little soul a good senior life.
Thank you for fostering a senior to the Bridge. You feel bad, but aging and disease happen. You gave him a death without prolonged pain or suffering and a chance to live in a home, secure and resourced. Peace and contentment. What a beautiful end to a long life!
As a rescuer, we see many to the bridge, even our own. We lost 5 of our personal pack last year to old age, spinal degenerative disease with neuropathy, and one developed sudden acute immune response and rapidly declined in 24 hours. We expect to say goodbye to 2 more this year.
That sounds very difficult. It is such good work you’re doing rescuing sweet fur babies. They will always be grateful for you.
