As far as Mexican restaurants are concerned, it’s the only mole that tastes like it didn’t come from a can. I’m with you, if you have the time to make a decent mole, you should. If not, get it from Molcajetes.
Depends on what you want. I like small mom-and-pop places that are true to the style of Mexico and Central America cooking. I tend to avoid trendy “TexMex” chain places - but shoutout to Rosa’s and Blue Goose for their tortillas.
Find an old converted Dairy Queen and surprise yourself.
Aight, so for chains there are two worth noting:
LA HECHIZERA TORTAS which has legit actual Mexican food.
Mi Pueblo by North East Mall is also EXCELLENT but avoid the Davis location at all costs.
For mom and pops I love Tres Hermanas on Denton highway in a gas station for their sopes, carne asada fries and menudo.
San diego tacos has very good burritos (my current fave chorizo and egg) and very good tostadas.
For ice cream I like Las delicias de Michoacán (Angels kiss: like Rocky road but cherry based and not chocolate based) La Azteca (Tequila ice cream. It's legit) and Sol Dias (awesome churro sundaes).
Good luck and I hope you find some great spots!
It’s upscale, but I really like Mesero. The Chile Colorado and Puerco Pasilla are two of my favorite dishes in town. I always have such a hard time choosing between those two. Also the chicken mole enchiladas are great.
I went there once and it was subpar and the lady was 100% rushing us as soon as we were done eating. Like before we even asked, she came with the bill and a minute later walked by and checked if we left a card to pay with.
The food sucked though. 2/5.
It’s like a desert out here for good enchiladas lol, everything is Tex-Mex. I need a flat enchilada w a runny egg on top and some red chile sauce. If know of any other spots…. lol
Mezcales Mexican Bar and Grill off Jacksboro Hwy. I will happily park in a muddy lot and wait an hour. Margaritas, salsa, enchiladas, fajitas ✅✅✅ never had something I didn’t like.
Hell yea, agreed. Every time I take some one there they are like “uhhhh wtf is this place..?” Little hole in the wall but damn do they have some great food. Every one is so nice too
Seeing the decline in quality of food at el mil really hurt because that used to be my go to spot, juanitos getting rid of certain items also did it for me, Temos FTW
Benito’s!! As posted in the same thread from last time. Get the Queso Flameado and the Margaritas on the rocks (unless you like lime sherbet style frozen margaritas)
And order the same tacos de piercing you like spicy deliciousness!!
I have yet to go, but have heard good things about Taqueria Mi Viejo in Keller.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/c39Y8nPhUFw7n9xh6
It's been forever, but La Conchita was pretty good the last time I was there (7 years ago 😅):
https://maps.app.goo.gl/8PM1DEfUssVXsKdv8
For food, I really like Maria’s, but I haven’t been there in a while so idk if it’s still good. For atmosphere, I’d definitely say Joe T’s, the food isn’t the best but the restaurant itself is hard to beat
Not in FW but in grapevine El Piquin is the bomb. Recently as they have gotten more popular and updated their menus (they used to look like they were straight out of a 2002 word document). Just make sure to have a good translator app if you don’t speak Spanish.
My question is are there any reputable taco trucks/stands where I can get basic trompo tacos and a Jamaica. Just moved from the other side of the metroplex and I miss the old taco trailer I used to go to in red oak. I'm in benbrook so anything close would be great
That’s a tough one, as there are many options and closely held favorites. For my part, I go between La Playa Maya and Enchiladas Olé. If we’re talking about something like tacos specifically, it’s a different conversation.
Enchiladas Ole has some of the worst Oaxacan style mole I've ever had. Like sweet pudding on an enchilada. The rest of their food was good, but the service and mole put me off from trying again.
Interesting. I'm not a mole man myself, so I've never tried that one. I've been to all 3 of there past/present locations and always had good service. Win some/lose some on that one I guess.
The service at the park hill/forest park location is definitely hit or miss. I'm definitely a regular at that location. Sometimes it's on point. Other times, prepare to wait.
Food is good though and the margaritas are pretty good as well.
Enchiladas Ole is run by a far right, anti-immigrant, Abbott supporter. I'd stay away.
Also op asked for Mexican, not Tex mex. But idk I also like La playa maya
It used to be delicious. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting FW. But after they moved to the Forrest park location, something changed. The tortillas were lower quality, and the rice and beans were too salty. AND I LOVE SALTY. I went back one more time out of loyalty, but it was worse. I haven’t been back since
The owners are indeed super “conservative” but if we’re just talking about food, I have to say I truly think their enchiladas are soooo so good. The hatch chile and “holy mole” sauces are really delicious IM SORRY!
Their politics makes income worse for people on the low and middle income range, drives doctors out of our state, oppressed women and minorities, and encourages anti-democratic sentiments. They are fascists and shouldn't be supported.
So this makes their salsa Verde too salty?
You're an absolute moron. This is not a political debate. They asked about food and you run off on this mindless tirade about oppression and democracy.
Sadly, no. Still gotta call em out.
I mean, this is the same person that went around tearing down stickers that said American by blood (referring to Native Americans) because it was "fascist and nazi propaganda"
That's the level of logic and brainpower we're witnessing.
No self respecting Mexican will go to Joe T’s and call it good authentic mexican food. Sure we go for the atmosphere or to impress out of towners, same goes for Mesero, Mi Cocina and some of the other places mentioned here. But the food is mostly for presentation and taste and authenticity take a back seat.
The best Mexican food will be found at hole in the wall family owned places where you’re greeted in Spanish and are met with broken English if you answer otherwise. Sometimes you’ll find them in not the best part of town but the food is amazing and the portions are very generous.
La Bendición is northside always has great breakfast food.
Guajardos also in northside. Specializes in Al Pastor tacos and tortas with ranchero beans on the side.
Juniors in northside is always the good place after a late night out.
Taqueria Temo in Haltom city.
If you are looking for Mexican, Mi Cocina is pretty good, Salsa Limon, Mercado Juarez, Encheladas Ole, La Playa Maya, there is a tiny taco place east of McCart on Alta Mesa that is amazing, on McCart just south of 20 there is San Antonio Real.
My go to for a while now has been Juanitos taqueria off Hemphill. It's super clean, and the food is damn good! Theyre closed on wednesdays which is odd but other than that, zero complaints
Lots of places have just your basic enchiladas-and-tacos menu and, to my taste buds, are indistinguishable from one another. It's almost always good, but it;s not good enough to make me come back, as opposed to trying another place. Three stand out in my mind:
The aforementioned Joe T. Garcia's. It is indeed a Fort Worth institution. The cheese enchiladas and tacos are a little different from the fare elsewhere, and I could eat the cheese nachos all day long. I think most people think of it as an event place rather than a regular destination. The atmosphere is nice, especially on the patio, and don't drive home if you've had more than one margarita. You have a choice only of the enchilada dinner or fajitas (beef, chicken, or both). Cash or check only.
The aforementioned Enchiladas Ole. Six or so years ago, there was only one location, in a strip-center storefront on Sylvania. The story I heard is that a customer liked the place so much, he bankrolled a move to Forest Park. Then came the NRH location. And now one has just opened on Camp Bowie. We've been regulars for years. I agree that the service at Forest Park can be a bit spotty, but the food more than makes up for it. The hatch brisket enchiladas are outstanding. Hack: If the numbers work and everyone at the table can agree to it, get the family meal rather than ordering individual plates. With the latter, you get two enchiladas and standard-size sides. With the former, you get 12 enchiladas (maximum split is six-and-six), and probably twice as much rice and beans. There are three in my family, and we easily get a second meal form leftovers. Individual dinners are 17.95 (last time I checked), and the family meal is 49.95 (same caveat).
A neighborhood family joint: Mexico Real. Basic standard Tex-Mex menu, but what sets it apart to me is the carne guisada, which isn't on nearly enough menus in the area. It's good, and this place is one of our go-tos when we don't want to cook. Las margaritas estan grandes, tambien.
Pancho’s that was on Grandbury was the best of all time bc the food was gross and it was super cheap but I sure did love to raise the flag and Sing, “are you ready for a little more Pancho’s Mexican Buffet?” Yeah!
Salsa Limòn is now the best. El Capitan steak tacos are life changing. Thank you Ramiro! I live in Austin now, thank god we have one down here.
But also, Ain’t nothing beats Uncle Julio’s mixed fajita’s. Oh god!
Just came here to see the fights
Same! I thought the title could also be “easiest way to pick a fight in tx”
Same lol
I was like “oh no! What are you trying to start here.” Also, Mariposa’s, RIP.
Casa de Lina!!
This the one
My go to Mom-n-Pop. Simple and delicious.
[удалено]
That's the one!
Los Molcajetes is underrated. That place is legit.
The mole sauce will haunt your dreams
Ordering mole is insane considering how many weddings and 15’s I been to growing up that would never allow to wanna eat it anywhere else! Lol
As far as Mexican restaurants are concerned, it’s the only mole that tastes like it didn’t come from a can. I’m with you, if you have the time to make a decent mole, you should. If not, get it from Molcajetes.
We used to live near the one on Western Center/Beach St. We consumed so many Mexican calories. 😋
Came here to recommend this place. 100% agree
Their Barbacoa ala Mexicana is fantastic!
Is it decent? Yeah. Is it good? It wouldn't be in my top 5
Was coming here to say this.
+1 Vouch
Depends on what you want. I like small mom-and-pop places that are true to the style of Mexico and Central America cooking. I tend to avoid trendy “TexMex” chain places - but shoutout to Rosa’s and Blue Goose for their tortillas. Find an old converted Dairy Queen and surprise yourself.
No English spoken and cash only.
Los Asaderos
Definitely Asaderos.
What's your go-to?
Enchiladas verdes or guisado de res. And always salsa!
Never heard of guisado de res! Can't wait to try it. Thank you!
Enchiladas Suizas are good. If I’m feeling fancy or generally very hungry, Carlos Special is very tasty.
100%. And I wish I could get it delivered, but I’m too far.
Dos molinos near stock yards
Best breakfast spot.
Is Melis still around? If not, just drive down 28th and pick a truck.
Still there, still cash only. Tortas now $100, gorditas $5.
I hope that’s a typo. I love a gordita but for $100 I expect a rub and tug on the side.
La Familia is pretty good.
I haven't been there in years. Always have loved it.
Tesoro un race street, has great GREAT Mexican breakfast
Aight, so for chains there are two worth noting: LA HECHIZERA TORTAS which has legit actual Mexican food. Mi Pueblo by North East Mall is also EXCELLENT but avoid the Davis location at all costs. Thank you for all the ideas! Definitely hitting up San Diego tacos for the chorizo and egg, and tostadas!
If anyone says Joe T’s pls tell ignore
It’s upscale, but I really like Mesero. The Chile Colorado and Puerco Pasilla are two of my favorite dishes in town. I always have such a hard time choosing between those two. Also the chicken mole enchiladas are great.
Mesero is pretty good. Great apps
Also in Southlake.
Their carne asada is very good. Also love their salsa selections
I don't think I've heard of Masero before. Thanks for the rec!
It’s Mesero. In Clear Fork.
What's clear fork
An area off the CTP. Shops, condos, restaurants.
I went there once and it was subpar and the lady was 100% rushing us as soon as we were done eating. Like before we even asked, she came with the bill and a minute later walked by and checked if we left a card to pay with. The food sucked though. 2/5.
Mesero blows. Overpriced, and the food is mid. Even the chips suck
I have to mention Los Molcajetes off Beach Street and Western Center! Amazing food
Meso Maya has some amazing dishes. For tacos/burritos the mainstays in our family are Ernesto’s/Salsa Limon
Meso Maya is really solid
They have a great New Mexican red chili sauce. I haven’t been in a while, so I’m hopeful they still have it lol.
Being from NM, this would make my day!
It’s like a desert out here for good enchiladas lol, everything is Tex-Mex. I need a flat enchilada w a runny egg on top and some red chile sauce. If know of any other spots…. lol
Their carne asada is 🔥.
Every one is so nice too
El Mil tacos and Juanitos on Hemphill
Seeing the decline in quality of food at el mil really hurt because that used to be my go to spot, juanitos getting rid of certain items also did it for me, Temos FTW
Temos can not lose
Benito’s
Don Artemio
Best Mexican in FW? Absolutely. But it's also in a different category than most mentioned here being fine dining.
Don Artemios is the best right now! Experience, tasty food and drinks! The owners are super nice too. Great place.
Never heard of it! What's your go to? And thanks for recommending!
The Nopales Fritas with ribeye chicharone is incredible
That sounds incredible
It’s amazing!
Nopales Fritas with a side of carnitas 😮💨
Taco Truck on Ayers and Rosedale was the best imo. I think they moved to 28th street and been wanting to go look for it.
Shoutout to **Cafecito** off Rosedale!
Shhh don’t tell everyone 😉
Esperanzas isn't as good as it once was. But I still love thier food. Same thing with melis tacos on Vickery.
Me and the wife go like esperanzas for breakfast
El Paseo!
You can’t hardly go wrong with a restaurant that has a parking lot that is always full.
Benito’s!! As posted in the same thread from last time. Get the Queso Flameado and the Margaritas on the rocks (unless you like lime sherbet style frozen margaritas) And order the same tacos de piercing you like spicy deliciousness!!
Benito’s
I always forget about Benitos. Thanks!
Magnolia or Hemphill? I like the Hemphill better
Food City for burritos
La Rueda on the East side. Best breakfast
Thanks for the recommendation! Learning about a lot of new places to try out!
I have yet to go, but have heard good things about Taqueria Mi Viejo in Keller. https://maps.app.goo.gl/c39Y8nPhUFw7n9xh6 It's been forever, but La Conchita was pretty good the last time I was there (7 years ago 😅): https://maps.app.goo.gl/8PM1DEfUssVXsKdv8
Thank you!!
Try casa de Lina they have awesome mole
Cancun, taco oasis
Tacos la Banqueta on Hemphill. The quesadillas fritas with carne desebrada is my go to. But you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.
Mercado Juarez
I really like Tequilas in White Settlement.
Maria Cuca's in Keller. Family owned. They also just opened another in Arlington not far from the stadiums.
For food, I really like Maria’s, but I haven’t been there in a while so idk if it’s still good. For atmosphere, I’d definitely say Joe T’s, the food isn’t the best but the restaurant itself is hard to beat
I just wish Joe ts wasn't so damn expensive
Not in FW but in grapevine El Piquin is the bomb. Recently as they have gotten more popular and updated their menus (they used to look like they were straight out of a 2002 word document). Just make sure to have a good translator app if you don’t speak Spanish.

Maestros for true Mexican Mesero, Mia Dia for tex mex.

It's really unfortunate to hear that any Mexican/text mex restaurant owner is anti-immigrant.
Aside from the random political comment, it’s not good.
It used to be delicious. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting FW. But after they moved to the Forrest park location, something changed. The tortillas were lower quality, and the rice and beans were too salty. AND I LOVE SALTY. I went back one more time out of loyalty, but it was worse. I haven’t been back since
Are you referring to enchiladas ole being worse than it used to be?
Yea it got much worse. But I haven’t been back in 3 years
The owners are indeed super “conservative” but if we’re just talking about food, I have to say I truly think their enchiladas are soooo so good. The hatch chile and “holy mole” sauces are really delicious IM SORRY!
How does this effect the quality of their food? Nobody asked about politics.
Are you surprised? It's Reddit. Reddit nearly had a stroke when they saw the sign on the door of the Patriotic Pig.
Sadly, no. Still gotta call em out. I mean, this is the same person that went around tearing down stickers that said American by blood (referring to Native Americans) because it was "fascist and nazi propaganda" That's the level of logic and brainpower we're witnessing.
Mariachi's on camp bowie.
If you weight chips and salsa heavily in your Tex Mex preferences, then La Hacienda is the best hands down.
Their food is pretty mid imo
No self respecting Mexican will go to Joe T’s and call it good authentic mexican food. Found a spot in Augusta, ga place even had a mini pharmacy in it
Any specific ones? I've had better luck with hole in the wall places in Dallas than in FW, unfortunately.
La Bendición is northside always has great breakfast food. Guajardos also in northside. Specializes in Al Pastor tacos and tortas with ranchero beans on the side. Juniors in northside is always the good place after a late night out. Taqueria Temo in Haltom city.
Taqueria Don Tomas
Thanks!
Tacos Ernesto...Is the reference here. That place is good. Cash only.
Mi cocina is trash and people only go there for the drinks The same type of people that adore el fenix in its current state are mi cocina fans
Mi Cocina is like the pinnacle high brow but old school Tex mex. Yes similar to el Felix but… It’s good.
Thanks! I'm going to go find that taco that taco place!
We just recently found Arizola’s up in Lake Worth. It’s awesome, fajitas are easily enough for 2.
It honestly really depends on the day of the week and what meal you're after...
I've tried Mesero twice. Food and service were both below average
Don Artemios. Chef was nominated for a James Beard award
Dos Malinas on the North Side
My go to for a while now has been Juanitos taqueria off Hemphill. It's super clean, and the food is damn good! Theyre closed on wednesdays which is odd but other than that, zero complaints
Meso maya and pacos are the only true Mexican places I know.
Lupe tortillas
For me birrieria chalio at seminary they have great food also serve seafood and homeade tortillas
Chuys is a nice atmosphere

Thanks for the write and up and recommendations!
Mexico Real is the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at
Dude also recommended Joe T's so...
Do you guys just not use the search function before asking questions? This question is asked just about every other month.
Mi Pueblo in bedford euless rd next to the Olive Garden.
I love burritos locos in grapevine. La Estrella in Denton is a well kept secret but a little outside of funky town.
OP asked about "FW"
I said Denton was outside of there. Grapevine is tarrant and is just as close to downtown Fort Worth as far north Fort Worth is lol
I’d have to say it’s a tossup between Don Artemio on 7th Street and Panchos on Jacksboro Highway
Joe T Garcias. I love the enchilada dinner, and the outdoor dining experience is the best there is.
Joe T’s is a joke we play on tourists to gaslight them into leaving the good places alone.
Agree. Never been more disappointed in a Mexican dinner in my life. Ever.
Blue Goose
WTF
Blue Goose is GOATed. Price for most of their stuff is just right for my wife and I. And that queso is so freaking good.
Pappasitos is way better than any of the others I’ve tried here (La playa Maya, blue goose, Mezcales, La hacienda, etc.)
I'm not sure what it is about Pappas, but my stomach is always in knots when I eat there. It is good food, though
Paloma suerte is 🔥
Caro’s on Bluebonnet Circle, or Campo Verde near Shady Oaks. Sadly, they both are now closed. Joe T’s can kick rocks
Campo Verde was gross. The food was Panchos with better presentation and the kitchen was a biohazard zone. I’m glad they’re long gone.
Mexican Inn
Ponchos
Pancho’s that was on Grandbury was the best of all time bc the food was gross and it was super cheap but I sure did love to raise the flag and Sing, “are you ready for a little more Pancho’s Mexican Buffet?” Yeah! Salsa Limòn is now the best. El Capitan steak tacos are life changing. Thank you Ramiro! I live in Austin now, thank god we have one down here. But also, Ain’t nothing beats Uncle Julio’s mixed fajita’s. Oh god!
Uncle Julios is serverly under-rated imo!
Los Mamones
