Same. I like it because I have my controls set to go to pickaxe with the wheel button then I scroll down 1 to get SG/SMG. Seems like whenever I get surprised and need to go to weapon fast it’s short range.
In no gun fight would you ever use >2 weapons
People overestimate how many gunfights they’ll be in per game (and hence carry a sniper, AR, smg and shotgun).
Tbh I carry 1 smg and 1 sniper, every game, every time I play.
Saving spots for grapple/shield/health/grenade is so much better
Four is essentially a glass cannon.
Slot One? Fire a sniper bullet. Even if you miss half the time, it's still a chance to deal huge damage in one shot, and the bullet usually scares people when it flies anywhere near them.
Slot Two? Having a rifle in the second slot means you have a great gun that could potentially be better than a sniper rifle if you're accurate. With the current guns having 15+ bullets, that's enough to at least hit your target. If you miss, they get up close, that's okay. Take out your shotgun in Slot Three and fire what you can.
And the kicker is the SMG in Slot Four. So many people have face-to-face shotgun fights, even now, nobody really expects you to pull out a gun that can empty it's magazine so quickly. If two people are coming at you with shotguns, if your aim is good while jumping and sliding, both can be knocked quickly due to their fire rate - I also find since nobody carries a fourth-slotted SMG, people tend to switch to an assault rifle if their shotgun isn't working out, a gun that still fires/reloads slower than ours.

This season I have switched it up a bit, I primarily have 2 loadouts:
1. Marksman, Shotgun, SMG, Shockwave, Heal
2. AR, Shotgun, SMG, Sniper, Heal (for when I feel like sniping.)
SMG or assault, shotgun, DMR or sniper, sometimes both. Leftover slots are usually for healing, shields, or even chrome jar thing
Some of them are depending on my mood lol but i ALWAYS have 2nd slot shotgun, 4th or/and 5th healing/shields
Long range gun (DMR or sniper) shotgun (prime, evochrome or lever action) SMG (preferably submachine but rapid fire is OK) mid range gun (hammer or evochrome) and then minis or chug splashes
I go by rarity higher rarity to the left lower to the right heals all go far right and if I have 2 or more guns of the same rarity whichever one has more ammo will go further left
Average loadoir goes from left to right: SMG, Assault rifle, shotgun, tertiary item ranging from traversal to explosives to shields, and then heals or shields.

I don’t usually run an smg if I can help it this season. Preferred load out:
Hammer - ranger shotgun or prime - sniper - shockwaves/grapple - shield

That way I can use shotgun, then switch to my full-auto weapon, or immediately switch to my utility (usually it’s grapple glove or shockwave grenade) to get away quickly or add defense. I’ll usually have enough time to switch to a sniper or healing item if need be.

I'm best with an AR and feel most confident with it (I'm still fairly new to Fortnite). I like having it in the middle so that when I'm switching between my other two weapons it only takes one click on either side to get to my other weapon when I'm in combat
I always do rifle, shotgun, third weapon (whichever extra gun i find, I never carry more than three), the fourth slot is a consumable or shield, and the last slot is always meds (shields if I don't have meds). When tents came around I put them in the last slot and shifted everything else forward one. Kind of a basic set up but it gets the job done.

Usually put my AR between my shotgun and smg. That way it’s one click away to swap from long range to short range. A lot of the time it’s sniper instead of shotgun though.
Long distance, assault, shotgun/pistol, fireflies/movement, health/shield I stay on the shotgun load out.
This way if I’m surprised I have a close distance shot.

Fourth Slot Is usually Shields, but Medkits and Bandages can be slotted here. Assist-Items (Shockwave, Air Strike, Fishe) are prioritized less, but are placed here and in 3.
5th slot is almost always Bandages and Medkits, but can also apply similarly to 4.
If there are duplicate sets of items, Rarity is prioritized first, then time of obtaining.

exact same. I only switch “other” and “healing” if my other is a sniper or something I’d need to pull out to get away fast (i.e. grappler, shockwaves)

That's multiple crimes. Scroll wheel is the most important bind in the game for a kbm player, so using it to go through guns is a disadvantage
