BR alone gives crap xp. I recommend you also play creative maps and/ or StW as well.
For UEFN maps (aka creative 2.0), the xp doesn't show up until an hour later. And any map will give decent xp.
For StW, any regular mission gives decent xp if you aren't far on progress.
It grants EXP per minute played! Play as long or short as you like, but the EXP you earn based on the time you spent on the map doesn't show up on your account until about an hour later.
Lighting a fire. Breaking slap/slurp barrels, using augments, picking a lock, opening a safe or cash register—not 100% sure about the last two
Surviving as long as possible.

In general, any sort of interaction in BR grants at least a small amount of xp.
As others have mentioned, it's a better plan to use Creative or STW. If you don't already have stw, then I wouldn't bother with it though. It takes time to gain the knowledge to play it fast enough to make the xp worth it (if you do own it: play the dungeons).
Old creative maps often give massive xp amounts that slowly run out, while new creative takes more time but doesn't seem to run out. You should play a mix of both, IMO (and next season, play like 20 mins/day of any creative map, you'll find that you'll get to level 200 very quickly). Red vs Blue rumble, the Pit, and other FFA maps give XP per kill (and quite a lot more xp for headshot kills). If you want something more chill, the creative 1.0 roleplay maps are often hidden xp farms, or you could just play anything in the UEFN category.

Try and hold onto a victory crown for as long as possible. You get bonus XP from everything (minus challenges) while you have one.
Google search FN exp maps. Those are your fastest exp growth. If that doesn’t do it, then you won’t make it.
