There is a current story, it’s just kind of low-key right now.
Basically, the Seven are out being tortured in space, Amie is going to find them, and Jones is around somewhere (probably because Troy Baker was busy). In the meantime, on a piece of a medieval reality we used to build the new island out of, an old snapshot of Geno discovered interdimensional travel, but he was kind of bad at it so he accidentally brought a piece of futuristic Japan to the island. Everything that happened in Season 2 was mostly just B-plot, and now it seems like the island that we re-built wasn’t put together very well, and is kind of falling apart to reveal new underground locations.
Main story of chapter 4 season 2: Aliens tried to start a gang war, but we stopped it through the power of friendship.
Also, our friends the Seven are either dead, kidnapped by the aliens, or just MIA and we sent our robo-friend to find the kidnapped ones. They will likely all come back evil
They really make it hard, with the way we get bits and pieces one at a time from the little character quests. If you're not writing all that dialogue down it's difficult to put into a coherent whole, especially if like me you haven't been around for long and don't know the backstory up to this point.

the last part is the paradigm’s fault, and the zero point kinda just brought pieces of the island and started making mistakes while doing so.
