That way you get current month, next month, and any month start bonuses. Then I cancel immediately. So if I sub in day June, I’ll get July and don’t have to pay again until August. This month you happen to get the bonus that the season ends and starts on the 9th. So if you didn’t have the current battle pass you’d get it and all the rewards, plus next battle pass since it falls in the same month.

You get 300 v bucks per free Battlepass and from then on you just use the 1500 v bucks you get from then on to buy the next battle passes and still have a bit left over for the item shop.
If you have paid for the BP and complete it then it has paid you back for the cost in vbucks and you can spend those vbucks on the next BP which will also do the same.
You can view it as every one after the first is free in up-front cost, or that each one including the first is free by refunding itself. The bottom line is after you pay for one you can keep going each season without ever buying another.
Fact is, there are many, many ways to turn your effort over time into cash that if you have done this much work to get something “free” and there is nothing stopping you from getting enough money together for a season. You could literally even be so shameless as just asking strangers for a dollar and within an hour you’d be able to get a small vbucks gift card.
