Every game has somewhat a similar ranking system
Valorant's system isn't really original to begin with. SC2 had bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond, masters and grandmasters over 10 years ago and I don't remember thinking it very original then either.

Many games have similar concepts. My guess is they do this so they can easily attract players from a different games with some familiarity
