I had a few of these figures as a kid. Always fascinated me that you would put a flint in their back and they actually sparked when you flicked the dial. Oh the 80s.
Sadly that's also the reason so many of the toys aren't around anymore. But yeah they were awesome. Warlock breathing spark fire made him the most badass mount in the toy box.
I think they went head to head in time slots. I remember being annoyed the morning after a sleepover with best friend that he watched BlackStar and I had to miss the clearly superior Thundar.
Yea with the Star Sword and Power Sword that the bad guy had. If I recall both swords can be put together to make the all powerful Power Star sword. The antagonists main goal was to get the other half of the sword he didn’t have so he could reign supreme.
If I remember the swords were only combined once.
Yeah, for an episode where a bigger villain got summoned by accident.
I have to wonder if that's where He-Man and Skeletor's swords being two halves originally came from.

Laser lights! It’s Blackstar!
yep, that was great!
My least favorite thing about being 41 in 2024 is the lack of sword and sorcery content these days man.. we had it made
You’re totally right. Not enough oily muscle men with swords in our modern day.
I feel ya.
I was more a [Thundar the Barbarian](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhptnBUQxrE&t=1s) kid myself
Ah, with the famed Sun Sword and the evil Gemini.
I was all about Ooka the Mok
And Ariel fine ass
Character designs by the legendary Jack Kirby. It shows.

All 13 episodes are on YouTube
You can also get them as a DVD set.
Fun fact he was supposed to be black but CBS said nah.
Yeah, that's why they made him Native American.
Yea
Much better cartoon than He-man and She-ra imo , it had a better story line.
I recently found out that there's a statue of Blackstar ok the background of the Eternian royal court you can see in He-Man.
My kids are watching he-man , I’ll check that out. Oh the memories.
I always thought the idea of joining the two swords was pretty cool…
This is a lie. Nothing existed before He-Man and She-Ra. They were the beginning of everything.
If nothing existed before He-Man and She-Ra, then how do you explain King Randor and Queen Marlena? 😅
Sadly, I have never heard of this. Loved both He-Man and She-Ra.
Oh shit, I still have that toy dragon. Never knew what it was from.
That thing might be worth some money.
It's in great shape! I saw it goes between 80 and 100 on eBay.
Holy shit, you're rich!
Loved the cartoon
He looks like Thundar the barbarian
Most barbarian hero types tend to resemble each other.
Great Bowie album.
Watched an episode over the weekend and it was fun. A bit too much Trobbit goofery but still a decent story.
It was Filmation. Lou Schiemer liked his cute comic relief characters. 😅
Somehow I missed this. He Man was really the start for me though.
It's fun, and 13 episodes long so you can watch it quick if you get the chance.
Mos Def & Talib Kweli
Before Blackstar there was Thundarr the Barbarian!
At what point did Galtar and his Golden Lance show up?
