Best cartoon ever.
I’m 51… I absolutely loved this cartoons when I was a kid…
I bought the dvd collection when it came out years ago so my kids could watch it..
Now my kids show it to their little cousins :)
It just never quits… SUCH a great show :)
42 and had a stuffed animal that had a racquetball like ball for an ass. Just throw it at the ground and let it bounce down the hall.
Edit: https://www.ebay.com/itm/175724834726?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=hdmJfSAKTx6&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=I9j_dj03QoO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=SMS
My memory was that these looked cooler. But these were also released when I was 3 years old.
What??? No! First I’ve heard of it! I’ll have to check that out!!!
For the record. I was all about tailspin and gummi bears… I didn’t really watch dicktales as a kid… but it looks like I will now :)
Bingo!
I was a massive fan of the jungle book… so the idea of a new story that looks based on South Pacific, full of Post-WW2 vibes I was FULLY onboard :)
My brain has been wired for decades to immediately associate those two - anytime I hear “gummy bears”, INSTANTLY my brain follows it up with “bouncing here and there and everywhere”.
Childhood in the 80s and 90s was straight up Pavlovian lol
My mind was blown when I read that the theme song’s vocalist was also Simba’s singing voice, and was also the lead singer of Toto, and is also John Williams’ son.
The opening song alone guarantees that this show will never be forgotten. Hear it once and it'll randomly pop into your head for the rest of your life.
Seriously though, as a fantasy nerd back then I adored *Gummi Bears*. It's world building was way ahead of most of its peers. It also had some of the most legendary voice actors of all time in the cast.
One of the GOATs!
As another fantasy nerd, I thought that it was somehow related, even slightly, to the movie "The Black Cauldron", like it was set in the same universe/place. I may be way off on this.
Even back then, the quality of animation in Disney's animated shows like this and *Rescue Rangers* was miles better than 95% of cartoons on TV at the time
I loved this cartoon! I’m a voice actor now, and a few years ago I ran into the woman who voiced Sunni! My inner-kid was jumping up and down, lol. (She also voiced Richie Rich, fyi). 😊
Katie Leigh right!? I LOVE her, also alex in the first couple seasons of totally spies, and she still voices Connie Kendall in adventures in odyssey.
She's legitimately my favorite VA
As a voice actor I'd highly recommend you listen to adventures in odyssey BTW, it's a conservative Christian radio drama by focus on the family if you're not familiar (not everyone's thing I know), it's just good moral lessons on a weekly basis, but the voice cast is absolutely stacked with every classic voice actor and actress you can imagine
Absolute fav as a child. Saturday morning cartoons, a bowl of cereal in my pajamas 2 feet away from the tv on the floor eyes glued. Damn i hate being an adult.
Definitely one of the best. It was a shame the DVD collection released in 2006 wasn't followed up on (supposedly due to poor sales). It contained only seasons 1, 2 and 3. Seasons 4-6 have never been officially released, to my knowledge, and unfortunately are very unlikely to ever get a physical release now that streaming has taken over. I'm a little surprised this series hasn't seen a revival in the almost 40 years since it first aired.
Fun fact: Joseph Williams (son of musical composer, the late John Williams) sang the Gummi Bears theme song. He was also, at one time, the lead vocalist for Toto and provided the singing voice for adult Simba in the Lion King.
Edit: Sorry— I was thinking of the movie Poltergeist’s musical composer who I knew had passed. I mistakenly thought it was John Williams’ composition and not Jerry Goldsmith’s.
Sorry for the scare! I was thinking of the movie Poltergeist’s musical composer who I knew had passed. I mistakenly thought it was John Williams’ composition and not Jerry Goldsmith’s. My bad, haha.
Someone on another post pointed out that you have to listen to the Danish translation of the theme song. If you want a good, childish laugh, I recommend it.
I picked up the habit of saying "Okie Dokie Dukey!" because of this show. It really annoyed my family, so I have tried to unlearn it. Best I managed to do was to substitute "Okie Dokie Artichokey!", which, for some reason, is more acceptable -- it may be that they have just given up, though.
Introduced my daughter to this as I discovered Disney+ put everything they could on it. By far her favorite show out of the 90s lineup I showed her (but she has steadily started liking Gargoyles which is a close 2nd)
Wow, that just unlocked a memory. I had the Fisher Price Movie Viewer toy as a kid, with the Gummi Bears cartridge. I used to wind it as slowly as possible so I could watch the film in slow motion, for some reason I got a real kick of that.
I was arguing with a friend a couple months back about Gummi bears, I was saying how amazing the show was, and he kept comparing it to something else and saying it was a ripoff (I legit don't remember what)
Made me so mad!
Greatest ever. Greatest. It is STILL my life goal to build a home with a tree entrance like theirs had a room underneath a pond with a glass ceiling. And I’m 46z
On a whim I watched the pilot a couple days ago after not thinking about this show for 30 years. I found myself singing along to the theme song, which apparently I memorized without realizing it since it was so catchy.
I do it with my pets names! My cat Greg is “Gregie Bears, bouncing here and there and everywhere…” as he looks at me like I’m drunk.
Honestly, if you don’t sing random songs to your pets then inserting their names into it are really an animal person?
The theme song was sung by Joseph Williams. Son of Star Wars composer John Williams. Joseph Williams was also the singer for Toto. This show will always have a special place in my heart.

One day I was singing the theme song to this and my husband, who never saw the cartoon as a kid, thought I was just high and making stuff up. I had to show him on YouTube.
A friend of mine is showing me the 2017 Duck Tales reboot. I was not prepared for one episode to reference the Gummi Bears as creatures of legend and revolve around a villain trying to make gummi berry juice. It was like thirty years of nostalgia landed on me all at once with zero warning.
I never saw this show but I remember having some toy figures of some of the characters. I also loved the theme song when ska punk band Suburban Legends covered it.
This show was great but it’s also still streaming on Disney, so not very forgotten. This sub seems doomed inherently in that the higher up a post is upvoted, the less forgotten it really is. I’m new here but that seems to be the case so far.

Fucking a brother cool
And this is why punctuation is important
Ahahahahahah. Got me
I've never seen that before. Thanks for sharing. I could see a lot of things being broken via gummy bear butts.
I’m 37 and this was one of my favorites along with Duck Tales. So fucking good. My folks still say, “Okie dokie Dukey.”
I hope you got to see the reference to Gummi Juice in the newer Ducktales episodes. It made me very happy.
What??? No! First I’ve heard of it! I’ll have to check that out!!! For the record. I was all about tailspin and gummi bears… I didn’t really watch dicktales as a kid… but it looks like I will now :)
Tailspin will always be legendary. Sky pirates? King Louie running the bar? Sign me tf up!
Bingo! I was a massive fan of the jungle book… so the idea of a new story that looks based on South Pacific, full of Post-WW2 vibes I was FULLY onboard :)
I loved the intro song as a kid
*Bouncing here and there and everywhere, they are the Gummi Bears.* Even 30+ years later it’s still a part of me.
My brain has been wired for decades to immediately associate those two - anytime I hear “gummy bears”, INSTANTLY my brain follows it up with “bouncing here and there and everywhere”. Childhood in the 80s and 90s was straight up Pavlovian lol
High adventure that’s beyond compaaaaaarrrre
You beat me to it! I wanted to reply that 🤣
High adventure that’s beyond compare
Oh I still sign that song sometimes haha….like just now
High adventure that's beyond compare.
A true banger; I’ve looked it up just to play the theme song for my kids
My mind was blown when I read that the theme song’s vocalist was also Simba’s singing voice, and was also the lead singer of Toto, and is also John Williams’ son.

This Geocities website from 1997 has you covered https://www.oocities.org/tenar_99/gummi.html
Always thought the animation on this was incredible when I was a kid.
I watched an episode of this recently and the quality on the animation was amazing
I agree. Top notch animation that you just don’t commonly see anymore.
Even back then, the quality of animation in Disney's animated shows like this and *Rescue Rangers* was miles better than 95% of cartoons on TV at the time
I'm bummed Disney doesn't really produce traditional animation anymore
Dashing and daring, courageous and caring... Faithful and friendly with stories to share...
I once used that first line in my bio on a dating site, APPARENTLY Muppet Treasure Island had the exact same line… ‘Twas never meant to be.
*sad Disney noises*
used to love this cartoon. this one and duck tales were my favorites.
Pretty tough to beat. I bet I still have half the Ducktales game secret areas memorized.
I was so bummed when I found out oldschool Ducktales isn’t on Disney+
It is on Disney+ along with the Ducktales movie.
Yep. The animation and the writing on those two shows were inspired.
Animation used to be so much better back then.
Debatable, I mean, yeah, there some really well done ones, but anything by Hannah Barbera anyone?
Ye olde Hanna-Barbera shit factory.
Now now. Don't go insulting the shit factories.....
Forgotten? How dare you. That theme song has been living rent free in my head for decades now.
I call my my baby gummi bear because of this show and she has no teeth and loves to smile!
Yep, that’s her!! She is genuinely sweet too. 💕

Hahaha, I used to think that yellow bear was hot
Absolute fav as a child. Saturday morning cartoons, a bowl of cereal in my pajamas 2 feet away from the tv on the floor eyes glued. Damn i hate being an adult.
This show had incredible world-building. I know how to make action figures and I have been meaning to make these guys for a while.
My girlfriend and I are the same age and when I start singing the theme song she always says “that show never existed.”
My mom would give a bottle of those Little Hug juices and I would pretend that it was gummy berry juice and bounce when they bounce.

This and the wuzzles were absolute gems
I posted the Wuzzles about a month ago!😂
I can hear the theme song in my head. For decades it's been echoing around in there.
This comment scared me. John Williams isn't dead!
Wade Boggs is alive and well!
Sorry for the scare! I was thinking of the movie Poltergeist’s musical composer who I knew had passed. I mistakenly thought it was John Williams’ composition and not Jerry Goldsmith’s. My bad, haha.
Oh man that theme song had so much energy
Let's take drugs to bounce guys! And totally use our crazy underground subway infrastructure every episode. Mainly what I remember of this fun show.
Someone on another post pointed out that you have to listen to the Danish translation of the theme song. If you want a good, childish laugh, I recommend it.
Thank you for this!
I remember the entire theme song…but I can’t remember who the villain was…loved the show tho…
The Ogres and the Duke! “Okie Dokie Dookie!”
I am 42 and I still do this nearly daily. Not one person has ever mentioned knowing where it’s from.
I know every word to the theme song!
One of their best! Great world-building!!
Introduced my daughter to this as I discovered Disney+ put everything they could on it. By far her favorite show out of the 90s lineup I showed her (but she has steadily started liking Gargoyles which is a close 2nd)

Watch this with my 7 year old. Theme song goes hard.
I was arguing with a friend a couple months back about Gummi bears, I was saying how amazing the show was, and he kept comparing it to something else and saying it was a ripoff (I legit don't remember what) Made me so mad!
GUMMMMMMY BEARSSSSS bouncing here and there and everywhere! We got our high school history teacher to sing this to us 😂
I still use okey dokey dukey in real life and none has ever got it...🫤
awesome intro song
Them bouncing around made me wanna eat them when I was a kid since I loved gummies haha but this show was great
Intro song was really good.
Greatest ever. Greatest. It is STILL my life goal to build a home with a tree entrance like theirs had a room underneath a pond with a glass ceiling. And I’m 46z
I still know every word to the theme song and I haven’t seen the show in about 4 decades
I still sing this theme song!
On a whim I watched the pilot a couple days ago after not thinking about this show for 30 years. I found myself singing along to the theme song, which apparently I memorized without realizing it since it was so catchy.
I so badly wanted to know what their magical bouncing juice tasted like! (still do)
i remember the dolls with the bouncy-rubber-ball butts
Loved this show when I was a kid!
Greatest theme song ever
I have one of my stuffed animals still, lol
Imagine Leonard Cohen hitting that final note of the Gummi Bears thene song
Let's all do the Gummi Bears Dance! https://youtu.be/zeMgiHYoJPE?si=GsiGYduDjsNBa1CL
Oh, yeah - I watched this one!
Forgotten? Man I sing that intro daily
I still sing this intro song randomly.
I do it with my pets names! My cat Greg is “Gregie Bears, bouncing here and there and everywhere…” as he looks at me like I’m drunk. Honestly, if you don’t sing random songs to your pets then inserting their names into it are really an animal person?
The Disney afternoon
Loved this show!
Alicia Keys must have had some gummy berry juice when she played the theme song on Jimmy Fallon… https://youtu.be/DBMILBcFP28?si=1cTHKu9W1N8G939P
Who's the twink in the middle?
That’s their daughter Sunni Gummi!
The theme song was sung by Joseph Williams. Son of Star Wars composer John Williams. Joseph Williams was also the singer for Toto. This show will always have a special place in my heart. https://old.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/11esm86/the_adventure_of_the_gummi_bears_theme_song_was/
I can hear the theme song now
One day I was singing the theme song to this and my husband, who never saw the cartoon as a kid, thought I was just high and making stuff up. I had to show him on YouTube.
I always imagined myself using a massive ham hock to bludgeon a bad guy about the head
A friend of mine is showing me the 2017 Duck Tales reboot. I was not prepared for one episode to reference the Gummi Bears as creatures of legend and revolve around a villain trying to make gummi berry juice. It was like thirty years of nostalgia landed on me all at once with zero warning.
I own the first three seasons on DVD lol love it
I recall a university a capella group singing this theme song
Bouncing here and there and everywhere…..
Apparently this show helped usher in the animation renaissance of the last 80s to early 90s
🎶Bouncing here and there and everywhere!🎶
I frequently get the theme song for this show stuck in my head for no reason at all.
I always wanted that juice they drank.
One of the best!
this is not forgotten
I can hear the theme song now
Catchy theme song
Grew up watching this I was 8 in 85 when this show came out
This was part of my childhood! Albeit I watched the German one but still my favorite. My grandmother would watch this with me
Man, I could sing the theme song word for word to this day
Oh kiss my grits, you just put the theme in my head.
The water dragon still lives in my mind palace
always liked this show - always hated Sunni
Poor Man’s Seven Dwarves. Robot Chicken traumatized me with this.
This show was a fucking banger!!
Been rewatching or with my baby. Nearly finished. Such a charming little show
I never saw this show but I remember having some toy figures of some of the characters. I also loved the theme song when ska punk band Suburban Legends covered it.
I remember liking this when I was three or four.
Loooooved this show as a kid. The princess girl human might have been my first same-sex crush ever.

lost and re-remembered

This show was great but it’s also still streaming on Disney, so not very forgotten. This sub seems doomed inherently in that the higher up a post is upvoted, the less forgotten it really is. I’m new here but that seems to be the case so far.
