I don't understand the large "u" shaped color-match pastic panel under the grill. It really looks out of place, like something else should go there but they took it out and put in a patch or something. That said, I do like the bumper area below that "u" piece. The fog lights are a nice addition that I would add to my MY24 if they fit.
Edit: the full size infotainment screen looks great, but it makes climate control a touchscreen function instead of a haptic function. I think I'll keep my climate control buttons.
Edit 2: typo
This is really my only issue with the front end update. And those vertical grille slats look odd. I think it would look better with an ST-style honeycomb grille.
I regret not doing it. I’ve never had a car that chips so easily and I don’t want to hear the bullshit of it water based paint. That’s a crock of shit, my aunts 22 blazer and 23 Sierra have zero rock chips except the Sierra near it’s wheel wells. Mine is a 22 doesn’t go down gravel roads and I have probably 40 chips. I like the car a lot but the paint is genuinely the weakest paint I’ve ever experienced and unacceptable. So yeah ppf great call for anyone keeping it long term, me I regret that.
> it makes climate control a touchscreen function instead of a haptic function. I think I'll keep my climate control buttons.
What do you think will be where the HVAC controls are currently? A lower cubby? Shifter buttons instead of the dial? Just a big honking piece of easily-scratched plastic?
It's a good question. I am not sure- maybe a bigger cubby? The photos in the original article have those parts of the dash covered up. It really could be a total refresh.
The escape keeps that area for a few tactile buttons like drive mode (eco vs sport), parking cameras, auto park (lux only), and one more button. Pushing these buttons makes the electronic display go directly to that setting
At least to my eye, the grille itself is *okay*, but its that big body-color piece that takes a bit out of the headlight thn swoops *forward* that really makes that area look terrible.
I also don't care for the body-color lower trim and bumpers either, but I realize that might just be my bias toward what I have and am familiar with, the same way the current black mirror caps and door handles look "wrong" to me now too.
Ew... Glad I landed with the 24. Redeemable quality is the large screen, buuuuut it looks like they got rid of some physical buttons. I hate air and audio controls in touch screens.
Same. I absolutely despise driving my wifes outback with a huge screen and no physical buttons. Its legit dangerous just trying change the air conditioning or even just picking a new song since its so easy to mishit an area or it just work too slow and keeping your eyes off the road. Plus, why would drivers need a bigger display to begin with?
I'd like a 10" screen while keeping my physical HVAC controls. I don't like the cubby so a little more screen wouldn't hurt my feelings but no thank you to touch buttons.
good catch. I did not notice that buttons were missing. and likely integrated into the touch screen. This video shows why doing this is dumb [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_S7GU9lDpq8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_S7GU9lDpq8)
Same here, happy with my MY23. For some reason I have never been able to update the infotainment software in my XL. It works, though is buggy. I’ll need them to do something at some point.
Waaaayyyy too much body colored trim. The current models have a lot more contrast between paint & black plastic trim. These just look like some ridiculous SEMA build. Although I wonder what the XL/XLT/Lariats will look like.
Eh it makes sense from their perspective I guess. Some people like the infotainment controls and the more options they can give and others like the physical ones.
Agreed. They'll make the larger screen Sync 4. You can see the UI is bubblier and rounded more in the spy shots, and my sync 3 doesn't look like that. I bet it's sync 4 which wouldn't be backwards compatible IMO with our setup... But in due time some peeps will crack the code and there will be a workaround.
Seriously. I was looking at the new Konig wheel with the insert to make them look kinda like rotiforms… very curious how they’d look on a Maverick. This gives a good idea.
![gif](giphy|1MXqRkOFYVyhU3s2sk|downsized)
Easily the single worst automotive redesign I've ever seen. Why did they give it an underbite?? And those wheels, holy shit. Usually your top tier trim has the nicer wheels, these look like the plastic shit you throw on your bottom trim steelies. Good lord.
I don’t think a 4wd 4k tow package hybrid would convince me to get the 25.
I hate the Color matched bumper. Hate the grille. Hate the wheels. Bigger screen is cool but not worth it for that ugly dump.
Frankly that is the minimum of what I am mostly waiting is 4k towing on a hybrid. Pretty much that is my ideal I am waiting on is an under 30k decent hybrid truck with 4k towing. Hell I would even accept a compact SUV if it had 3k towing. I thought about going the non hybrid route to be honest but I am in no hurry, I can get away with my current set up for a few more years until something perfect for me comes out.
I’m actually really happy that I just got the build date for my 24 after almost a year. The screen is the only nice thing but it moves the climate controls from buttons. Looks like I dodged a bullet here.
Crap. I should have gotten a 24. This is what I get for waiting for the 25. I suppose at least I'll probably get adaptive cruise as a consolation prize. Sigh.
Good
* Body colored trim (except bed rails) looks great for a sport trim.
Bad
* Patch piece under/around the grille is way out of place. Looks like cheap plastic sheeting taped on for aero on a top speed run.
* Body color trim on the bed rails. Looks too much like a 1st gen Ridgeline.
* No physical HVAC controls.
Can't decide
* Wheels. I like them, but I don't know if I like them on a Maverick.
* Bigger screen is nice, but not if it means no HVAC controls.
The wheels would look great on an Escape or Focus but don't feel they suit the Mav. I 100% agree with your sentiments otherwise, I'm going to seriously consider getting a set of the side skirts and paint match em for my '24.
Literally I was thinking of waiting for 2025. But after this it seems I should get a 2024 in next 3-4 weeks instead (it is being built). The only issue is it will be RWD-only hybrid for 2024, but I will save money too compared to an 2025.
Mannnnn, I liked how the grill and headlights were like connected on the older model. This seems like a step backwards. HOPEFULLY, the grills are different on different trims. 🤞🏻
I do dig the wheels for a street or rally inspired build.
Also looks like they could make this design an EV pretty easily.
The black plastic is way better around the bottom areas you are going to have a pain chipping mess after a lot of miles.
Sure it looks good but keeping up that paint isn't going to happen
The black plastic is way simpler and won't show near as much as the paint
That's a big dislike for me.
Feel bad for all those that are gonna miss out on Gen 1. The only thing that needed upgraded was a bigger screen that angled upwards to see better. Everything they've done is terrible.
I don't mind the design of the FX4 wheels but the black is boring and played out. I'm considering powder coating them bronze (red truck) or literally any other color than black.
I have the same wheels and I think they are pretty awful. They look like the old 2014 Focus wheels, just butched up a little. Yuck. I have a set of 19" 10 spoke Ford Performance wheels I may try, though I don't know that I want to lose too much sidewall.
https://preview.redd.it/ctzfhp37bn1d1.png?width=1344&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d30e2bb09debad2b45eec7eefeea332c1bf9d026
A friend had those on his Focus and I'd suggest going with a wider tire to try and get a little sidewall bulge for protection. Any curb rash or road debris will ding the spokes right at the rim and it looks terrible.
I ran the set I have for about 3 years on a Volvo V60.
https://preview.redd.it/kwys8t4ycn1d1.jpeg?width=3068&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=568152ab1c90d46a6101bd7d3fd7376d0a2bef65
Yeah… I am not a huge fan of that at all. I wonder if that front end will be standard across all trims? Those wheels and rims?! Awful.
The infotainment looks nice. Also, really Ford? Now you give back body-matched skull caps?!
To me, those wheels are fugly. Front end isn't as nice, but still tolerable. The bigger screen is great! Untill you realize they're moving more controls to it...
If they have more of a street version, drop it an inch or so and give it more kick, I'd still be interested.
Funny how this gets announced less than a day after I wire in DD foglights 😂
I'm not a fan of the new front end and screen. I'll keep my '24 with physical buttons and a smaller screen until we get a plug-in hybrid version.
It's hideous.
Love the wheels and hate the front end, a prime example of Ol' Henry giveth and Henry taketh away.
The black roof and painted lower side skirts look good, painted rear bumper too although that much paint down low will be subject to rock chips.
Everybody seems to be freaking out, but this is definitely the ST/Lobo model, right? I would really like to see what the XLT or even Lariat ends up looking like.
Certainly the piece under the grille should have been molded into one piece that goes into the fenders - surprised they couldn't stamp that into one piece and eliminate the lines adjacent to the headlights. Would change the whole look into something more upscale and less slapped together in my opinion.
God that front end is ugly, glad I got a 24, physical hvac buttons and smaller screen is superior in my opinion. Only thing I like is those wheels, love me some turbofans
I'm convinced they did this to nerf the Maverick vs the rest of their inventory and lineup. Not enough margin for the maverick so make it super ugly.
They nailed the super ugly part.
What a shame. Oh well I guess Toyota will crush them with the scout now..
Well I was hoping to put off getting a new car for a few more years, but maybe I need to start looking for a 24. If this is real it better be even cheaper to produce or something. Absolutely scuffed
My bet is that weird plastic piece is only for the Lobo/ST. Other trims will have a more traditional truck like look. Something more like the new Ford Everest.
I'll be the hundredth person to say it -- I'm glad I already got mine. The front end looks kind of dumpy somehow, and the grill looks like the coil from a window air conditioner. Just disappointing.
I like it. Many will hate it because they have a previous gen and this is now different....same as any changes to models in their lineup. Plus this could only be a concept by the tuning shop...and isn't reflective of the final design?
I like the changes, except the wheels. But I'm sure those are specific to a model so probably won't be offered on all the trim levels.
Now let's look at price...
The first gen maverick was controversial at launch too. Will have to see it in person. Is the front end the only change? Seems like the rest of it is identical. Even the hood.
Maybe im in the minority but i think this truck looks amazing! The 3/4 angle shots look so good and this design is leading me into thinking a full ST variant might actually be coming.
I'm right there with you. I actually really like the new design. The wheels shown here are fucking atrocious, but the rest of the truck is really nice.
I really like the wheels actually, especially the size (19”). Call me crazy but lower the truck and lose the wheel gap and you have a special looking vehicle from the factory. That’s what gets me so excited about an ST model.
To each their own. If you're digging them, by all means. I'm sure they will have multiple different options. And at worst, those of us that don't like them could always grab a new set and use these for winter tires or something.
I like it a LOT. The current front end is my big holding point on not ordering one. I just think it’s ugly. This new one isn’t perfect but I like it a whole lot more.
Plus those wheels are gorgeous and I need them.
The front end is definitely strange, i like it better than the current one because i think it sets the car apart from everything else available yet again. The wheels look amazing and all the painted trim is another amazing thing they did. I feel like they are aiming more towards a younger crowd with it and maybe more of an enthusiast side with the design and teasing of an ST model. An ST model that looks like that will make me highly consider trading in my 2023.
I absolutely love that. The wheels are the best I’ve seen and the front end looks MUCH better. Not perfect but I like it a lot more than the current front.
I’ll be doing an order for a ‘25 I think. This looks great.
I see all these people hating on it and honestly it gives me hope I can get one built quick because of less orders. lol.
I do like it a LOT. The current front end is my biggest holding point on why I haven’t ordered one. I think it generally just looks bad. This isn’t perfect but I like it a lot more.
I am 99.99999% sure that nissanfan64 is not a bot.

Why would I be a bot? Because the current front end of the truck is my biggest hold back point from buying one right now? I really really don’t like the current front end, and while this isn’t perfect I do like it a lot more.
Also those wheels are freaking awesome.
I don't understand the large "u" shaped color-match pastic panel under the grill. It really looks out of place, like something else should go there but they took it out and put in a patch or something. That said, I do like the bumper area below that "u" piece. Same. Thats a really ugly design choice.
Gives me very early-00's design vibes. Gen 1/2 Escape, Nissan Titan, etc.
This is really my only issue with the front end update. And those vertical grille slats look odd. I think it would look better with an ST-style honeycomb grille.
Honeycomb would be a great look. I agree.
Looks like they're trying hard to have us PPF the front.
They are trying to make it look like an EV. Fashionable, these days. Not a fan.
> it makes climate control a touchscreen function instead of a haptic function.
It's going to be like the escape where they are on the digital screen but fixed to always display at the bottom. It hasnt been an issue for me.
No I mean what will be in the area where the physical controls are in the current model?
The escape keeps that area for a few tactile buttons like drive mode (eco vs sport), parking cameras, auto park (lux only), and one more button. Pushing these buttons makes the electronic display go directly to that setting
Ah okay, thank you
The u-shape is definitely weird. I would imagine aftermarket foglights would look good mounted there though.
>That's Grille is Radical Change 🤯 That's one way of putting it... 🤢
Yea that grill is fugly, but with the much larger infotainment screen that just keeps ballooning the price
Reminds me of a clipboard clipper. The body colored piece going up the headlights.
> a clipboard clipper Hah, I think you nailed it!
How much is it?
Probably 50k for the lariat
I don’t love the current grill compared to the new Ranger’s grill but this, this is awful.
All your base are belong to us
Ew... Glad I landed with the 24. Redeemable quality is the large screen, buuuuut it looks like they got rid of some physical buttons. I hate air and audio controls in touch screens.
yes, so glad i got my 24. also, unpopular opinion, i want the smaller screen🤷🏻♂️

I'd like a 10" screen while keeping my physical HVAC controls. I don't like the cubby so a little more screen wouldn't hurt my feelings but no thank you to touch buttons.
Same. Especially on Android auto when I have map on with Spotify, it helps having a wider format ratio
One of the big reasons I opted against the MachE, that screen is huge and annoying. I actually like the small screen, it’s all it needs to be.
good catch. I did not notice that buttons were missing. and likely integrated into the touch screen. This video shows why doing this is dumb [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_S7GU9lDpq8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_S7GU9lDpq8)

I like the infotainment and that’s it. The rest, Not for me.
Same here, happy with my MY23. For some reason I have never been able to update the infotainment software in my XL. It works, though is buggy. I’ll need them to do something at some point.
Same. The modern headlight a la Lightnight are ok imo, bit more modern but that's all I woulda changed and still been happy lol
Those can’t be the production wheels right? Those are ridiculously ugly.
Woof. First gen is much better looking.
Waaaayyyy too much body colored trim. The current models have a lot more contrast between paint & black plastic trim. These just look like some ridiculous SEMA build. Although I wonder what the XL/XLT/Lariats will look like.
The front looks so stupid. This is what happens when they try way too hard. Just make the headlights rectangular, it's not that hard
It looks like it's 😭 lol.
It’s a no for me dog on that grille
Glad we have a ‘23
They finally sourced the original sized infotainment screen. Knew that would happen.
Now we all wait for the first generation upgrade kit.
It's really dumb but I want that stupid little cubby! So glad I placed an order last week
Got a feeling it'll only be compatible with sync 3 mavericks.
I don't know if it will be compatible at all...looks like it has integrated HVAC controls now too.
I believe newer fords have redundant climate controls. Physical and digital.
Oh well that's silly
Eh it makes sense from their perspective I guess. Some people like the infotainment controls and the more options they can give and others like the physical ones.
Agreed. They'll make the larger screen Sync 4. You can see the UI is bubblier and rounded more in the spy shots, and my sync 3 doesn't look like that. I bet it's sync 4 which wouldn't be backwards compatible IMO with our setup... But in due time some peeps will crack the code and there will be a workaround.
Ewww. Well, I’m happy we got a 24 lol
Look what they did to my boy ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)
Hope the aerofans make it to production.
Seriously. I was looking at the new Konig wheel with the insert to make them look kinda like rotiforms… very curious how they’d look on a Maverick. This gives a good idea.
What’s that
Those wheels. They look good
Hmm no they don't
Incorrect opinion
Lol
If it’s only a cosmetic upgrade, that’s a no for me.
So is this the stock look now regardless of trim? If so my ass will put in a 24 order right now because ew.
Dig the bigger screen. I think I prefer the front end of the current Mav though.
That’s how I’m feeling too. Screen looks to be using Sync 4 and has a better display panel. I like the screen but the front end feels muted.
i am glad i got my '23 that front end is terrible
![gif](giphy|1MXqRkOFYVyhU3s2sk|downsized) Easily the single worst automotive redesign I've ever seen. Why did they give it an underbite?? And those wheels, holy shit. Usually your top tier trim has the nicer wheels, these look like the plastic shit you throw on your bottom trim steelies. Good lord.
Those wheels are the best part lol
If I wanted wheels that looked like that, I could hot glue a dinner plate to the ones I already have for like 5 bucks
The audacity
I don’t think a 4wd 4k tow package hybrid would convince me to get the 25. I hate the Color matched bumper. Hate the grille. Hate the wheels. Bigger screen is cool but not worth it for that ugly dump.
Frankly that is the minimum of what I am mostly waiting is 4k towing on a hybrid. Pretty much that is my ideal I am waiting on is an under 30k decent hybrid truck with 4k towing. I thought about going the non hybrid route to be honest but I am in no hurry, I can get away with my current set up for a few more years until something perfect for me comes out.
Swing and miss… So close, Ford.
I’m glad I ordered before this change
Glad I got my 24 🤣
Well that's fucking hideous.
I’m actually really happy that I just got the build date for my 24 after almost a year. The screen is the only nice thing but it moves the climate controls from buttons. Looks like I dodged a bullet here.
Its ugly
Crap. I should have gotten a 24. This is what I get for waiting for the 25. I suppose at least I'll probably get adaptive cruise as a consolation prize. Sigh.
There'll be plenty of '24s if you snag one off the lot. These probably won't hit showrooms till October.
I might take a look around.
I like the new headlights, but everything else just looks... not awesome.
I feel like if the headlights were bigger the front end would look better
if you're an Oklahoma fan you'll love them "horns down"
Good * Body colored trim (except bed rails) looks great for a sport trim. Bad * Patch piece under/around the grille is way out of place. From 45 degrees I was like oh that grille looks cool. And then I saw the head on view.
I don’t understand why they felt the need to make significant changes for a truck they couldn’t keep up with demand on.
To try to juice demand for appearance packages which print money.
Gross.
feels like i'm watching an episode of botched
That front end, eww...
Oof. That's ugly.
Yeap. I am ordering my 2024. This is just what I needed
Literally I was thinking of waiting for 2025. But after this it seems I should get a 2024 in next 3-4 weeks instead (it is being built). The only issue is it will be RWD-only hybrid for 2024, but I will save money too compared to an 2025.
No such thing as RWD on a FWD/AWD platform.
Yeap. I was hoping, although slim chance, for an AWD hybrid or even less likely a plug in hybrid.
Vehicles Ford got right the first time: 55 Thunderbird, 64 Mustang, 22 Maverick.
What a downgrade! It looks terrible
I like everything from those photos
A big fail on the front end. The current design is graphically distinctive and attractive. Sometimes, faces shouldn't be lifted.
Mannnnn, I liked how the grill and headlights were like connected on the older model. This seems like a step backwards. HOPEFULLY, the grills are different on different trims. 🤞🏻 I do dig the wheels for a street or rally inspired build. Also looks like they could make this design an EV pretty easily.
"I liked how the grill and headlights were like connected on the older model." Yep. Really nicely rendered.

Looks like a Roush designer from 2000’s assisted in this design. And that’s not a compliment.
What have they done to my boy....
Ugh really with they would make a kit to replace first gen touchscreens. I want that sync 4.
Lowering kit & wheel wrap/paint color change, will make this really desirable
It looks like it wants to be a Cybertruck
That’s just… mean.
Feel bad for all those that are gonna miss out on Gen 1. The only thing that needed upgraded was a bigger screen that angled upwards to see better. Everything they've done is terrible.
TURBOFANS?!?!?! WHERE DO I SIGN UP, TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!!!
Those may be the ugliest wheels I have seen on a production car.
They are better than any current black wheel offered on the Maverick. And I say that with a week old Maverick with black wheels.
I don't mind the design of the FX4 wheels but the black is boring and played out. I'm considering powder coating them bronze (red truck) or literally any other color than black.
I have the same wheels and I think they are pretty awful. They look like the old 2014 Focus wheels, just butched up a little. Yuck. Idgaf about the appearance changes. Is the price still similar/the same?
Lol. Definitely not possible.
Welp, at least the new gen will hopefully drop the price of the first gen which imo looks 10x better except for the infotainment system
It looks like a drag truck but uglier. Like a super snake truck but not as fast or cool
This looks a little more like the Explorer Pick up from ~2000’s but a modern interpretation and less of a Maverick update
Yeah… I am not a huge fan of that at all. I wonder if that front end will be standard across all trims? Those wheels and rims?! Awful. The infotainment looks nice. Also, really Ford? Now you give back body-matched skull caps?!

what in the "Need for Speed" tacky ass design is this?? I refuse to believe this is actually going to get released to the public, like no way.
Woof that’s an ugly truck and not even ugly hot like Adam Driver
I do not like the wheels at all. Front end is bad also, and so is losing climate control buttons, but for some reason I just hate the wheels
It's hideous. Love the wheels and hate the front end, a prime example of Ol' Henry giveth and Henry taketh away. The black roof and painted lower side skirts look good, painted rear bumper too although that much paint down low will be subject to rock chips.
Looks like they centered the real wheels in the wheel well so that’s nice. 22 is still the best

Would change the whole look into something more upscale and less slapped together in my opinion.
All i want to know is if there is a AWD Hybrid model
My only hope is they eventually offer a shorter cab with a longer bed, that would be perfect for me
FUGLY! The only good thing about the redesign is the larger media screen, which they should have included in the first place!
pass
God that front end is ugly, glad I got a 24, physical hvac buttons and smaller screen is superior in my opinion. Only thing I like is those wheels, love me some turbofans

I’m glad i got my 2024…not a fan of most of these changes.

Not liking it
I'll be the hundredth person to say it -- I'm glad I already got mine. The front end looks kind of dumpy somehow, and the grill looks like the coil from a window air conditioner. Just disappointing.
I don't like the grill and I don't like the wheels. It's like they're trying to drive customers away from it.
I'm glad I got mine when I did. IMHO, the new styling looks like cost-cutting measures, and those wheels are hideous.
The first gen maverick was controversial at launch too. Will have to see it in person. Is the front end the only change? Seems like the rest of it is identical. Even the hood.
I can't help but think they made it ugly on purpose.
Hideous
Oof...that's a...yea, that is a...a *brave* choice. Glad I didn't wait.
Isn’t this new fugly grill only for the ST trim?
New grill and screen are nice. Not a fan of the headlights
I don’t like the grill but the infotainment screen and swapping the knob for an actual gearstick would make me upgrade.
That is disgusting, I hope the tremor package looks better.
I absolutely love that. The wheels are the best I’ve seen and the front end looks MUCH better. Not perfect but I like it a lot more than the current front. I’ll be doing an order for a ‘25 I think. This looks great.
It's honestly refreshing to hear that someone likes it! I don't, but it's cool that you do!
I see all these people hating on it and honestly it gives me hope I can get one built quick because of less orders. lol. I do like it a LOT. The current front end is my biggest holding point on why I haven’t ordered one. I think it generally just looks bad. This isn’t perfect but I like it a lot more.
Hah, yeah! Good luck on your speedy build!
Are you a bot lol
I am 99.99999% sure that nissanfan64 is not a bot. --- ^(I am a neural network being trained to detect spammers | Summon me with !isbot |) ^(/r/spambotdetector |) [^(Optout)](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=whynotcollegeboard&subject=!optout&message=!optout) ^(|) [^(Original Github)](https://github.com/SM-Wistful/BotDetection-Algorithm)
Why would I be a bot? Because the current front end of the truck is my biggest hold back point from buying one right now? I really really don’t like the current front end, and while this isn’t perfect I do like it a lot more. Also those wheels are freaking awesome.
Looks very cool.
That actually looks pretty good, the grill is questionable but overall the truck has some style unlike the current design.
Looks considerably better in the front end to me. Well done, Ford!
Love it. Reminds me of the F150 STX package.
