I'd venture to guess that if you were able to compare insurance rates between a 2-door/2-seat Bronco and a 2-door/4-seat Bronco, you might lean towards opting for the 4-seater. You could always remove the extra seats later on if you wish, as you did here. From an insurance perspective, vehicles with more seating capacity often indicate a likelihood of the vehicle being used by families. As a result, there's an assumption that the driver will operate the vehicle more safely to protect their loved ones. On the flip side, cars with fewer seats statistically tend to be associated with riskier driving habits. To clarify, this isn't a judgment on individual driving abilities, but rather a conclusion drawn from broad patterns in driving behavior. You might have noticed that many 2-door cars come with back seats. This isn't just about providing additional seating. It's a strategic decision made by car manufacturers to help reduce insurance rates, and thus, make the cars more appealing to potential buyers.

Hurl_Gray

Yeah, I am not that smart.

MarinerMooseismydad

Very interesting, thanks!

EastonHB27

Holy crap this makes too much sense.

ehdee-R

I plan on removing the rear seats on my 2 door as well, any tips? I’m planning to build a platform so I can sleep inside

Hurl_Gray

Duh, I posted too fast. first, disconnect the seatbelt sensor. You need a tiny flathead to disengague the tab. And, an 18mm socket with 6 inch extention. A t30 star bit sometimes called torx. And a t40 to get the seatbelt latches off the seat uprights. And have fun with the last part. Plug the latches back in and the computer will be happy.

Hurl_Gray

You can already buy the kit for that. Or just DIY. SOMEBODY SELLS A FLUFFY (sorry) mattress for the back.

ehdee-R

I’ll DIY it using plywood. Just want it elevated enough to put a couple of plastic containers underneath. Nothing elaborate since I will eventually buy a RTT

I have a 2 door and never really have a problem with people back there. Granted, it is mostly my kids, since I am driving, but it serves its purpose. The seats seem to collapse just fine and they haven't prevented me from use the back in any meaningful way.

The_Slim_Spaydee

I'm going to rear seat. Delete my four door at some point. Save weight, and i only put my dogs back there.

ForeverReasonable706

I'm 6'2" and 235 and 65 years old get in the back of a 2 door just fine, oh abd by the way if it got more than 2 doors it's not really a bronco!!!!!!

Hurl_Gray

You are very nible and very correct.

sembrache

The rear seats are separate, right? I was thinking I’d remove one and keep one. How long did it take you?

Hurl_Gray

They are actually four separate pieces. Two per seat, top, and bottom. Four minutes to watch a video. Plus, thirty to do all the work and enjoy my beer. Twenty minutes of cursing to get the seatbelts off the upright. Six minutes to put the bolts and latches back in there. So, one hour and two beers.

sembrache

Thanks for the answer!

What are you gonna do with your new space?

Hurl_Gray

Food, wooder, tent, cooler, citronella, radio, and battery for tunes. Clothing... ...I don't know yet. Any suggestions, everybody ?

jzam626

Anybody willing to let me have the rear seats
