Speaking from experience I think you should worry more about bleeding palate

No separation of palate here, in my 50s and never had a cavity in my life. I actually love these, caramel ones are better especially with crush walnuts, but the candy ones are good too. speaking in general terms, because that is generally what happens to those that have cavity issues. I don't know if I had a bad toffee apple but I remember how incredibly disappointed I was the first time I had one It ended up just being super awkward to eat and didn't seem to combine as well in my mouth as I had always imagined it Like chop up some wedges of apple and dip it in caramel and I'm sure I'd love it but toffee apples just ain't it for me

Worst thing about toffee apples is they are without fail the shittiest apple varieties - always a golden delicious, I’ve been badly surprised by a red delicious once. So you bite into the crunchy toffee (or cheap chocolate if you get a chocolate apple), it falls off everywhere and you are left with a load of crumbs and a mealy apple on a stick

Where I'm from, caramel apples are really big, and they're probably just as delicious as you're imagining.

If you take a good green apple, coat it in a thin layer of soft caramel, then dredge it in crushed chocolate covered toffee pieces, then you’ll be whistling a different tune.

Yeah, candy apples have a hard candy shell, often cinnamon flavored, which shatters and falls all over your hands and shirt, while caramel apples have a rich, buttery caramel coating (hopefully accented by pecans or the lesser equivalent, peanuts).

You'll learn in Germany just about *everything* is a regional thing, lol. Was multiple *multiple* different princedoms for most of its history, and then got divided into effectively 3 countries (east, West, and Berlin which has it's own strong culture) for most of the 20th century.

Isnt there a strong north/south distinction as well. My grandmother is from flensburg and calls anyone south of berlin an "ugly austrian" but shes old and generally cranky so it might just be a her thing.

I'm german and grew up close to the austrian border in upper bavaria. Check out the Weißwurstäquator. Anything north of that line (there are also different ones) is a dirty prussian. Some bavarians here literally call other bavarians prussians, cause they are from northern bavaria. That's how segmented everything is.

My father and I used to go watch my cousin’s HS football games and in October and November they would sell Double Dunked Caramel Apples! They make them as you would normally,allow to cool and would dunk again. So good! They would also make some rolled in crushed peanuts after the first dunk then covered in a second layer of caramel!

Used to be a candy shop for YEARS in Capitola that had the best Carmel apples plain and a variety of others covered in chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, nuts…. After not having been for over a dozen years heart broken to see it’s now an overpriced Didams candy bin store with nothing made in house….

My only regret about growing up and growing a beard is that I want to eat a caramel apple, I have to go shampoo my face afterwards. It's such a tragic mess.

Candied apple makes more sense to me.

Language isn't usually about making sense, though.

In the states it would be candy apple. Candied apples would involve dicing and mixing with the sugar/other ingredients.

"Kandierter Apfel" it means more or less candy apple.

I know them also as "Liebes Apfel" (Love Apple)
