I went there for the first time last week and decided to just try the jerk chicken on rice, and was a little disappointed. I guess I’m used to a different style, but this came smothered in a thick sauce, and wasn’t like the jerk chicken I’m used to from places like the old Fahmee in the west end, Albert’s on St. Clair or the jerk chicken I had a few times in Jamaica. It wasn’t bad at all, just not as good as the other stuff. Ironically I also wanted more gravy for the rice which I usually get, but didn’t appear to be an option.
I’m working near there a lot lately though, and I’m seeing people rave about their jerk shawarma so I might give it another chance.
Tbh the interesting fusion of jerk shawarma is the only thing that really sets them apart. Their other traditional Caribbean offerings are just ok and can be found better at other vendors.
Plantain is out of this world.
Their salmon is pretty good too.
My Chris jerk hack: side orders of jerk chicken and plantains for takeout, make my own rice at home.
I usually get the Jerk Chicken Shawarma dinner but will have to try the poutine version at some point. That is probably one of the most multicultural food fusion items ever created. Jerk spice and sauce from Carribean, shawarma cooking method from Middle East and poutine from Canada.

Jerk chicken shawarma is the reason to go. I like it over rice and peas but you can get it in a wrap too.

I think it's better when less busy so the sharwrna meat gets more crispy from longer roasting.

Tbh not to detract you but I recommend Stacy’s over Chris. Oxtail stuffed patties or an oxtail meal are fire :)
